Partially correct. The idea that you would say "no" to yourself when you're deciding to judge against the idea you've recorded introduces negativity. "So what are you saying?" you may ask. "Am I to say 'yes' to myself even as I negate myself?" Yes! "What do you mean?" you may continue. "Then my writer's block is back!" So close to the truth, but untrue. You say "yes" to even your "no." You say "yes, and..." as any improviser knows. Yes, this is not a good idea, and it is made better by "..." Know that the simple "no" is not the way forward. The "no" that is encapsulated by a bigger "yes" wins. Try it. Say "yes" to even your "no." Things become complex, but say "yes" to the complexity as well. "Yes, and..." Keep the "yes, and..." going and you are unstoppable. Diffuse? Maybe. Random? Maybe. Incoherent? Maybe. But unstoppable. Everything is on the table.
Damn dude i thought this video had thousands of views--you're super underrated! I love your humor and everything in here is GOLD for the place im in right now. My script is really complicated and i've been struggling with putting together all the scattered peices into something that's vaugely coherent. When you got to the part of the Guy with the jumper cables as an idea 3 weeks ago, i tried thinking of all the random ideas i had for my story and BOOM i got an idea how to unfuck my chernobyl of a script
I’ve done it for a day. My plot changed immensely. This method is my daily routine in dairy writing. So I don’t know why it never crossed my mind, that it can also work for story writing. Thanks man. Keep up the good work.🙏🏻👍

I use the Voice Notes app in my phone and record my ideas immediately. The bad ideas, lead to the good ideas. Thanks for the video.
