This NEVER fails to bring me joy. I'll forget about this song for months and years at a time, then out of nowhere I'm singing big butter Jesus and have to find the video. Love that he added that last verse too!
The same happens to me. I heard this song on the Bob and Tom show years ago, and I caught this stuck in my head a few days ago! However, I just now watched this video with the new verse, and I about died! So funny! I'll still be singing this song when I'm 80 years old!

I love when entertainers really look like they're having fun. I can imagine it gets tough to find any amusement in something you've done dozens, if not hundreds of times, but when you can smile like that, it's inspiring.
As some who would travel from Cincinnati to Dayton monthly I saw this thing a lot. We used to call it, "touchdown Jesus". The new version of the statue has its arms reaching out in front. We now call it the, "I caught a fish this big Jesus". It was also though it was ironic that there was a Hustler Store at the same exit off the highway.

I actually always assumed he was just saying "Holy, Oh Lord." Oleo is super clever there, actually!
I love this song, and as someone who had to deal with Big Butter on a regular basis, and now his replacement, Five Dollar Footlong Jesus, it makes me giggle every time. XD

Mr. Banks!! my mom has been telling me about the statue for years. we Googled to research the nickname 'big butter' and discovered you!! and I can't remember a time we've laughed so much! my mom has had a crazy year health wise, so seeing her laugh til she is in tears is such a gift to our family. by now if I whisper big butter in her ear or hold up a butter container in a store that wonderful laughter comes right back. so from the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you thank you! we look so forward to seeing you in person one of these days. again, thanks for the joy you've given us. it means everything : ))

OMG , i mean OH JESUS my little sister just called to say she was driving to Dayton for a holiday visit and just had to let me know she saw THE BBJ live by the expressway. I was unaware of his newly resurrected status. (no pun intended BBJ) I did not even know about the new verse. We are both beyond tickled and she can cross one off her bucket list. What a blessing!

@@thundercount9523 the statue was called Touchdown Jesus more often than Big Butter because it looked like it was a football referee signaling a touchdown. I never heard it called Big Butter until after it burned down.

Seen it in real life (both statues), as I live rather shortly away, and I can say that this song is brilliantly accurate, especially the getting into heaven with a 90 part. I would have to be in a real desperate situation to be convinced to even drive in that area, these days. Kudos, man, kudos.

Had just left my son's house outside St. Louis in 2007. I was in a traffic jam on Interstate 44 and listening to Bob & Tom... thought I would be carted off if anyone saw me laughing so long and so loud. I still love it after all these years!!!

This song makes me smile every time I hear it. I just shared it again on Facebook. It's the best ear worm to have! If somebody says something you don't agree with, just say "Oleo Lord" and you'll quickly end the conversation and have them wondering, "WTF is he talking about?" "... Sweet cream Jee-zuss ..."

I just drove by this today, i wasnt thinking about it but then i saw the statue, then i saw trader world, then solid rock church, and then i yelled "its big butter Jesus!"
I was disappointed that the new statue didnt look like butter though.
So this is why my dad pointed at a tub of Country Fresh Butter and, through his laughter, wheezed "Big Buttered Jesus. Can't believe it's not Jesus!"

I take pride in saying that I saw him live 2 years ago. It was a masterpiece. Same place that this performance was, in Ann Arbor, MI. Still classic.
I'll admit, as a teenager (I think I first heard this song in 2007 or so while on the way to high school) I'd always remembered it as "holy oleo" instead of "oleo lord' and I kinda prefer my misremembered version.

My favorite song - ever.
I have a friend who was a firefighter for the city that responded to the 911 calls. Every year on the anniversary of the fire they post pics of their pagers from that night ("Engine requested Jesus statue on fire"), links to the most absurd press conference you've ever seen (reporter: was this an act of God? Fire chief: I'm not prepared to answer that question), and just generally dunk on the whole situation. It's been 15 years and it's still funny
