    A great tip from a few of you to remove the white connectors from the original motors is to pop the pins out by pressing the little tabs in that secure them, great shout fellas thanks! :)

    About speed up or real time building/manual changes:
    I think it's important to see people struggling and figure things out. Kids only see people be successful at first try and so they get demotivated if they fail once.
    But especially to bring this amazing hobby to new people they have to learn to struggle and became better by solving things.
    It's basically my playstyle in dirt rally.

      @@KarlGosling I figure some of this will come down to individual viewers, and even then be different depending on the video. At the end of the day, if part of a video is boring to a viewer, they can just skip or speed up that part, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as the videos don't turn into 3 hour long unedited livestreams! Adding timestamps so people can jump to the next section more easily might make sense if you're worried about losing people in detail.

    Thanks for a great review, Karl!
    I can give you, and anyone wondering, a tip regarding the removal of the original rumble motors. I found that the cable pins are actually quite easy to remove from the white connectors which should be the easiest way to get them out, if you want to keep the cables intact.
    The pins are exposed on the side of the white connector. On the very back of the pins, toward the cable, they stick up a bit against the white plastic which keeps the pins in place. Use a small screw driver to push there while pulling on the cable, or press down on the pin and at the same time push it back so the pin gets under the white plastic, and then they should slide out from the white connector quite easily. Then you can route the cable back through the pedal set and lastly just put the pins back into the connector again, they should just pop in place.
    Remember to take note/a picture of the polarity before removing the cables (red and black) from the connectors so you can put them back in the same way.
    I never really tried the rumble motors on my V3's as one of them fell apart when I mounted the extension brackets for the pedal faces. I have since received a new rumble motor bracket from Fanatec so I think I need to give them a try as I might be interested in these upgraded ones.

    I've got this exact kit from Sim3D running on my Meca Cup 1 pedals & find it a brilliant addition to my setup. I race in VR all the time and the wind sim is an absolute godsend in helping me keep cool, as well as adding that extra bit of immersion to the racing. The motors on the pedals have become second nature and have really helped me to both get faster as well as more consistent. Cracking product & Calvin has been really helpful whenever I've needed some assistance.

    • @LeoDavidson
      @LeoDavidson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before I started sim racing I kept wondering why so many people had wind setups, since you aren't going to feel the wind on your face in most driving situations. Once I did, and had to set up a fan blowing right at me, I started to understand. :D I can see it also gives some physical feedback that, while not fully realistic, is a substitute for some of the sensations of speed/movement you'd get in a real car that aren't easily simulated in a stationary cockpit or even a motion rig. My only fear is that if I set this up, I'd end up driving faster than I should just to try to keep cool, lol.

    I like using my V3 pedals but every aspect of disassembling any part of them is such a ballache it's like Fanatec designed them that way on purpose, despite themselves selling two separate upgrades, as well as the built-in pedal face adjustments and replacements, that require you take bits of them apart. Broke multiple tools just trying to get the pedal faces off as they use so much loctite. Totally agree with you that the stock motors are too weak to feel most of the time, too. Sometimes I notice it and wonder WTF it is, it's so rarely felt. OTOH, they do work well, and they look great, and my only complaint about using them is that the widths and positions aren't very adjustable for left-foot braking.

    • @ComaTwins
      @ComaTwins 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put the alt pedal faces on my clutch and brake but ended up stripping one of the screws on my accelerator due to the locktite so I'm stuck with the default on that one.

    • @LeoDavidson
      @LeoDavidson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ComaTwins It really is crazy how tightly they are on. I sprayed WD40 and left them a week (after giving up) and still couldn't get them off until I switched from screwdrivers to a ratchet wrench, bought specially for this (never needed one before in my life). Not sure if it was the wrench, the WD40, or both, but I destroyed two screwdriver handles before that point, as they were weaker than the loctite! It's a ridiculously strong bond considering the pedals don't even need to be that tight and have to be taken apart to install first-party Fanatec hardware. Complaints can be found going back at least a year if not two but they haven't changed anything.

    Hey, might have mis understood Karl, but the "Effect Specialization" set to corners is if you have 4 transducers, i use a buttkicker and that's all i have, so it's set to "mono" Dean

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It determines which wheel telemetry triggers the effect your tuning... if you have four transducers one on each corner (like I do) then yes you could choose only the appropriate wheel for each effect, but as it's a single rumble motor on the pedal you want wheel lock up telemetry from all four corners to trigger it... or at least I do.
      Mono may also work though if it merges the data into one, I didn't try.

      I'm in the £200 is a fair bit of money category.
      I'm guessing you've not used the 2 sim3d fans together to get the speed curve using their setup.
      But on a sort of percentage scale is there a ball park you'd think you'd get out of the sim3d in comparison to the hurricane.
      Say, you might think you can get about 70% of the way to immersion provided by the latter or is the difference quite noticeable.
      I mainly race dirt rally 2 in VR with occasional forays into open wheelers in iracing and have bought ams2 for the karts.
      On another note, have you ever tried swapping your 4 actuators for 3.
      I tried it last week and found it much better after about half an hour of getting used to it. I use two front and just one at the back.

    I'm getting a bit worried here. I ordered 3 months ago and he keeps pushing the date + the discord link is gone.
    Has he gone rogue or something? I already paid for the product :(

    New Kickstarter idea: want to keep your balls fresh while racing on your mobile device? Try our portable ball freshener/air simulator for people that want to stay fresh and on the go. Your balls will thank you, your lap times will thank you. Pair this with a crotch transducer and you have yourself a party.

      I could make a ducting outlet thats only around 75mm to focus air down to a narrow spread for ultimate crotch cooling action! You've got the idea, I've got the know how.... Lets do this!

    hey guys buying the "upgraded motors" is a scam they are the same motors and same weights the only difference is that the arduino motor shield is outputting 12v and the fanatec board only outputs 5v. if you cut the wires and connect them to a arduino board and set it up in simhub you will get a huge improvement like karl got with the "upgraded" motors. I can confirm this is true because i have done it my self.

      I will have to test this, thanks mate! :)

      A couple of points on this, Firstly saying its a "Scam" is wrong on quite a few levels. Alot of people know you can make a similar Rumble Setup if you know what you're doing and I've discussed this with people quite alot. In fact I sell the brackets for pedals on my website for people that want to do this but don't have access to a 3D printer or don't know how to design them (I've also sent empty boxes & the custom motor cables to customers too).
      Also, after testing with quite a few people the original fanatec motors burn out quite quickly (the variation in quality with these style of motors is huge between different manufacturers). I originally sent out a few kits to friends with a cable that allowed it to connect with the original motors but after the motors burnt out quickly I changed course and sent the motors I've been using for other pedals.
      Also, Its become apparent fairly recently that the motor brackets that come with the Fanatec V3's aren't the strongest and I've been contacted by someone who's had a bracket snap from the increased forces!! I've already designed a modified bracket that stops this and prevents damage to the original Fanatec parts and am in the process of sending them out to people that have purchased the kit for the Fanatec Pedals from me FOC to avoid this happening to them in the future. (If you'd like one please contact me).
