Interesting fact: The silver towers shown in the PS2 startup represent how many different game saves you have on an inserted memory card. The more saves you have, the more towers you will see.
Oh yeah, really good !!! I thought that it was recorded from the sea , a sort of MP3 file looped. But in fact, it was more easy than this. Really good for the time, good tips !! Amazing ingeeniers.
old video and there's not much of a point in commenting but the reason these are played at different pitches is likely due to the sampling rate these ripped these at..probably 20000hz, when the PS2 plays these sounds at a different speed/pitch all it's doing is playing them at a different sample rate, the sound made when there is no disc and it goes to the menu is played at a sample rate of approx. 25427 hz, and if you wanted to play them, say one octave lower, the PS2 would play the same exact sample, but at appox. 12714 hz.
very informative comment, thank you for sharing! i was always curious as to why some sounds that i ripped from the bios and some isos with psound were pitched differently.

The 3rd sound of the bios is surprisingly much cooler than the pitch that the ps2 uses i wonder why they used the original pitch on the ps4 legacy theme....

I'm really curious as to why the pitch is different when actually played. I have a feeling it actually has to do with system quirks rather than being intentional.

it's not just the amount of saves that matters
it's also how many hours have you played in such saves
towers
Judging by this, the PS2 actually plays these sounds with a different pitch... very interesting
Different pitch and some of them are layered and looped on top of each other.
what I wonder the most though is how they were made, whoever did them could make some crazy good lengthy ambient music pieces.

More precisely SPU has built in these functions at chip level.

0:13 sound like a computer startup sound of some sort!
No way, really mate!!
the second one sounds amazing
Звук номер 9
даже сейчас звучит достаточно современно,
хотя прошло уже 20 лет
Fun fact: every sound is nostalgia
Number 9 gives me a lot of nostalgia.

The last one sounds like in RE4 when an ganado is melting after killing one of them.

Actually 3. Is the system config screen when no disc is inserted - its toned down though here.
7 is the sound from the playstation logo when you start a game. 3 is the sound it makes when going back to the ps2 menu from the memory card browser.
The 3rd sound of the bios is surprisingly much cooler than the pitch that the ps2 uses i wonder why they used the original pitch on the ps4 legacy theme....
I guess because common folk remember the original pitch and don't go digging into the BIOS (or BIOS rips) to listen to the individual sound effects
13 PS2 Menu Sounds:

0:08 - ????
0:18 - Red Screen of Death

0:25 - Display End
0:27 - ???
0:28 - Select Cube
0:29 - Menu Select
0:30 0:33 0:35 - ????
0:30 through 0:35 are samples that are slowed down and mixed in realtime on the PS2's main menu.
trueLFCfan that's 0:30
0:27 it was "go back/cancel" and "PlayStation 2 Splash Screen."
10 is after you finish deleting data I believe.
The last 3 are for the storm ambience that play in the browser and rsod
0:17 shadow of the colossus that’s all I say
the pitch is wrong cause the actual hardware modifys it, so yeah, just the startup shows what the console can do
So relaxing 😌

10=Access Blocked
Number 2 sound goooood
#3 gives me courage, lol.
So the third sound is basically the Main Menu and the RSoD with different pitch.
thank you very much
2, 4, 9 my favorite
These sounds different than the 30000 model and above
television and cheese they all the same
Its just the uploader lowered pitch to avoid youtubes shitty copyright strikes
Thanks!
I'm really curious as to why the pitch is different when actually played. I have a feeling it actually has to do with system quirks rather than being intentional.
It might be for copyright reasons.

PS5 SOUNDS DETECTED
*Perfection*
Wow how did you do this?? So cool!
i used PSound to export the sounds as wav files from the bios
i used that on my SCPH-90006 bios and i could only find a sine wave file
why is all of them not in the right pitch? :(((((((
Probably because they are played at varying speeds.
REKLESS I believe this is how it works. Without much to store sounds, it makes sense to do it this way. It is the same with the PS1 intro, too.
how did you extract them
The first one sounds like someone screaming
Yes, and it is beautiful
It's one of the startup sounds
Where would u put the ps2 bio on the ps2e emulator
YOU HAVE CANCEL SOUND ?
Are 11,12 and 13 for the red screen of death?
They fade in and out to create the static waves in the menu
Yo are those ps2 sounds?
yes - on the startup screen.
no they're freaking gamecube sounds
Random its xbox
No it’s windows 98
Great way to get views without doing anything. #respect
