Mariann is actually the best she seems like a genuinely sweet person and she's beautiful.
The funniest thing about Mariann is that she never actually gets a word in on the show. Usually Howard picks up on her, her voice starts to escalate, and he just hangs up without listening to a word she says.

it's true what Maryann says, When Howard was on radio, I was homeless, and would get up early, and turn on Howard, and cast of characters, would just have me laughing LOL early in the morning. Great way to start the day, dumster-diving, and crackin up.

Ive come to realize that Stern wanted to be super famous and accepted by mainstream Hollywood his entire career. He made fum of everyone he was jealous of. He's an old man now and got what he wanted.
Yup, he even admitted it. His entire "no bullshit" career was a jealous rage.
Because of that he wouldn't be a millionaire and became the most famous radio personality of all time.

Lots of irony here. Howard Stern went from being considered a gypsy shock jock bouncing around among radio stations to a juggernaut for satellite radio. And as of this writing, Stern is mainstream, while Katie Couric--a former darling of network TV news--has her best days behind her.

When she originally went on the show (it's gotta be 25 ish years ago), that was what everyone on the staff was talking about. They all expected her face to match her voice, and no one could get over the fact that she's a good looking woman.
i have to say Mary Ann's voice is annoying as hell but howard has to truly love her because she is a Super Fan probably his biggest... every celebrity should hope to have a fan like her

It still is always shocking to see how attractive she is compared to her Marge Simpson voice every time I see Mariann. Quite frankly, that makes her even more attractive! lol
Howard is VERY powerful among the media elite - I hope nobody is fooled the this transparent attempt to increase his likeability toward the female demographic - which is why Beth was prominently featured, which is why Howard talked about Robin, and which is why Mariann was featured as the main "fan".
This is a calculated move to boost his stature and likeability with female America for AGT - and also to test the waters for a Howard Stern late night talk show.

What you are hearing from her is a thick New York accent. The people from Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Staten Island have thick accents. People who are from Manhattan and Queens have an accent. but it is not as pronounced.
She obviously has a strong accent but that's not the cause of her funny sounding voice.
The reason her voice is so gravelly is that she had her tonsils and adenoids taken out as a child and got a severe infection that permanently altered her vocal cords, the strong Brooklyn accent just makes it even more pronounced.
I remember watching this when it first came out. The whole interview was going great until the last part. Making Mariann's "wish" come true by dancing with Howard. It's so cringy and dumb. I'd want to be a good sport, but I would have somewhat dance while walking off the stage.
She is great, but it does sound like she talks thru a slinky

Why does he always take calls from her? She doesn't bring anything to the table, she isn't funny, she isn't interesting, she isn't talented, she just yells on the phone........She is a perfect example of why the Stern show isn't funny anymore. Stern gets on the air, plays a few phony phone calls, interviews someone he has interviewed 20 times before, takes a call from Bobo, Balls, and Maryann, does the news and there is his show. With him only being on 3 days a week, the show should be better than ever. Howard Stern from 1985-2005 would be embarrassed on what his show has become. Come back old Stern. Fire your yes men you have on the scene and bring in some real comedians to help write the show.
