Tastes have changed in the world of football boots. Flashy boots are in, and anything with a more "old school" look, typically isn't the most popular. The new Predator arguably being the exception to that rule. With that said, consumers who are more into the traditional side of things, don't typically want flashy boots. Well, that's exactly what these are. Flashy and traditional. Weird combo.
In today's video we take a closer look the new Dyna pack colorway of the Mizuno Morelia 2 Japan, and incredible bright colorway on one of the most traditional looking football boots currently available. Looks aside, the Morelia 2 is an unbelievable pair of boots, and while they might not be the style of boot most people are considering these days, I'll tell you why you might want to reconsider.

You know what’s cheaper than MIJ Mizunos, is also made in Japan, features a kangaroo leather upper, along with an old school sole plate with modern plastics and a Karvo insert? Adler Yatagarashu.
Josh, please, please, PLEASE review Adler. They deserve as much attention as Mizuno as an underrated boot maker.

Hands down Morelia II are the best cleats I have in my bag. Nothing comes close to build quality, comfort, weight and fit of this cleats. Worth every penny!

I have these and I’d recommend going half a size down for the MIJ models. I know reviews say to go TTS but they are a bit roomy - I think the Morelia 2s especially have a lot more room than the Neos. Most comfortable boots ever tho.
I have these in red colour. Absolutely the best boots. Super comfortable. Amazing touch. Works very well in AG. Cannot fault it..

These are absolute comfort kings and super light as well. Unfortunately has a very stiff heel area, some including myself might find that to be an issue.
Great timing… I’ve been eyeing up a pair. My neo iii japans were a bit small and giving me pain. So the Morelia ii run shorter in length than the alpha? I tried alpha but I just don’t think they are for me. That colorway is something else, but I just love the leather of Morelia
Hi Josh, are the Morelia 2 wider in the toe box than the Neo 3 or 4? The neo´s were too pointy for my taste.
Are you going to review the Puma Future 7 Pro+ version? Seems to be both a Pro and Pro+ released.
This boot is second to my Adler Yatagarashu. Prefer the Yatas bcs of the comfort.
Like you and many others I'm a huge Mizuno fan. I'd definitely be interested in a head to head with Mizuno and a few of the other bespoke Japanese brands such as Adler. They sound great but are impossible to find in the UK and I'm worried about deserting Mizuno😊

The tiers go: Made in Japan (MIJ) > Elite > Pro. I think the Alpha also has a Select tier below Pro, but don't know much about it.
Generally, the difference in tiers are:
- MIJ: highest quality materials, and better manufacturing processes, such as 24 hours in a last (vs like 20 minutes or something much shorter in the Elites and other big brand boots) and double layer/applications of glue, etc.
- Elites: Still very good quality materials, and are generally considered the equivalent in quality to the top of the line models from the other big brands
- Pro: I've only ever tried the Morelia Neo 3 Pro. It's good, but not much different from the other options you have in this price range (NB 442, Copa Gloro, and Premiers).
Between the different models, the general differences are:
- Morelia 2: This is the classic leather boot shown in this video. Full k-leather upper minus the synthetic logo, traditional rounded studs.
- Morelia Neo 4 Beta: This is the leather speed boot. K-leather forefoot, but has a one piece knitted upper. The stud pattern is still mostly round, but the studs are narrower, and the sole plate is stiffer and more responsive than the Morelia 2.
- Morelia Neo 4: The conceptually very similar boot as the Neo 4 Beta, except instead of a one piece knitted upper, it has a synthetic leather mid foot with a k-leather forefoot, and a u-throat tongue/lacing system. The Neo 4 Beta is thinner and closer to the ball, but the Neo 4 has more adjustability and more plush touch on the ball. Relatively, of course.
- Alpha: This is Mizuno's speed boot. Full synthetic upper, noticeably more aggressive sole plate and stud pattern.

How you feel about the sole plate for Ag, is it to much grip? The studs seem similar in shape but not size to most of the best ag soleplates options

Whats the durability like on AG? do they peel from the front after a few uses or will they last?
Been using mine for 6 months, 4x a week. The paint on the leather definitely wears off in the toe area as expected, but there hasn't been any sole separation or cracking in the leather at all.
Are the sole plate on these wider than the neos? I have the neos but I have stability issues because of how narrow the outsole is. If someone can confirm this, I will splash the cash. 😂
I wouldn't say that the soleplate itself is significantly wider compared to the Neos.

They're just not as soft as MIJ version of the Morelia. Nothing is though.

I suppose it depends of your heel shape. To me it's a perfect fit and the amount of leather and overall shaping is perfect. It wraps your foot like a glove.
The number 1 boot on the market. They can bring Predator, F50, and whatever cheap plastic synthetics they can think of. This Mizuno Morelia remains the best boot on the market.

You technically can use these on AG. Very common, especially in Japan many players do that with turf fields. The conical studs are more safe & versatile than blades.
How does the elite compare to this? A lot of reviewers talk about MIj being the peak of leather, but honestly I can't really tell much difference. The softest leather I have felt is on the copa 2, and I own the neo 4 beta's and tiempo 9's.
The Elites are great too, but the MIJ model is genuinely as soft as it gets for a leather football boot.
How durable do you think are those boots on ag?
I have mine since July '23 now and wear them exclusively on AG pitches while training with our "over 40" team (f**k I'm old😅). We train 2 times a week (90 minutes per training session) and have our occasionally friendly match against other "over 40" teams approximately 1 - 2 times a month. Until most recently they've hold up impeccably well but now the upper material starts tearing on the outer lower part of the heel, just above the soleplate. It's nothing major and you can still play in them just fine but I'm concerend that they won't last that much longer unfortunately. However I'm pretty sure that this is due to the fact that I have a strange heelshape (very wide at the bottom) and you can clearly see that my heel exceeds the width of the soleplate by quite a margin. Apart from that I'm absolutely in love with these boots and can't recommend them highly enough if you're after high quality kangaroo leather boots with unbelievable comfort (seriously you have to try them for yourself in order to understand how incredibly comfortable they are).

They're made for the hard ground playing surfaces of Japan, plus the outsole is riveted, so, pretty durable.

I know what you mean about the feeling because I own the blue ones from the world cup but only used them on fg but I own an elite pair which I wanted to use for ag. Turns out thy morelia elite is not quite the same for me (runs a bit more narrow and I had a big issue with the heel part). But I was too afraid of buying such an expensive boot and destroying it on ag. Maybe I‘ll give it a try.

@@reanSWA I've had mine for about as long as the other commenter, and play on AG 3-4 times a week. Other than the paint coming off, no issues with tears in leather or sole separation. Hands down the best quality boots I've ever owned
