  • Disney is currently being plagued by live action remakes, and with one on the horizon for Disney's first animated feature film, I figured I should take a look at the lessons this classic teaches and evaluate its quality. Maybe this will become a series? Who knows?

You may have missed that the queens kill attempts are all linked to knowledge of surface level beauty. A pretty ribbon/lace for a corset, a hair comb, and an apple (motif of forbidden knowledge and ambition).
Each are symbols for taking away the innocent beauty of snow white for the queens more pragmatic and surface level beauty

When I was a child I preferred Snow White to Cinderella; what I liked most about her is that even though she cooked and clean like Cinderella, she used her abilities to improve her situation, and she got to live in a better house, got the bigger room in the house and manage to find a family who cared about her.

Great video. It's really easy to take some of these older animated movies for granted. They are so well known you can almost forget how clever some of the story decisions were. I live in dread of the live action remake.

Thank you! I am constantly blown away by older movies. I forget how clever the writing can be sometimes and how good the production of many of them tend to be. Movies like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Sherlock Jr. are still some of the most impressive looking movies to me. Even something like A Trip to the Moon look far better than some of recent movies' CGI. It's crazy!

@@Spidgey I've always said that restraints breed creativity. CGI can be an incredible tool But the consequence of it is it's basically removed restraints. That's why I like lower budget movies more because they reinstate those restraints and tend to lead to more creative output.

10:44 He says "I'm again'(st) 'em" here; it wouldn't make sense that he's saying he's "getting"... wicked wiles.

Watching this video made me realize that with their NeW SnOW wHitE, Disney is not only just making an uninteresting movie but also destroying the classic children's movie and its original tale!
