  • Avatar: Way of Water comes out in a week, so it's time to look back and see if the first was any good. I have mixed feelings...

Avatar is the more complex when it comes to world building, any film that relates to complexity of its world building is amazing as it takes alot of time of months to even possibly years to make a complete world building experience entirely.
The culture, the tradition, the language, the appearance of the native na'vi, their environment, etc took James Cameron alot and I mean alot of months to years to complete the whole world building process for his film Avatar.
Yeah the movie has some flaws, but that is ok, all movies tend to have flaws in general.
Just because the movie has a simple story doesn't mean its a bad film, other movies used the same ideals but took the idea into a total different conception of the concept itself.
Dances with wolves used same idea but represented the concept differently. Lion king falls under this as well with a complete different ideal concept that also falls under that. A movie can use a simple story, and represent it differently in its concept specifically.
Yet, it can still turn out good as a series, book, movie, etc when used properly and well thought out through.
Avatar the way of water, diffidently will give us more to explore in Pandora..
But heres the thing, dont use a other movie that used the same concept and say by qoute, "Avatar is a copy and paste of Dances with wolves" or any movie that uses same concept as avatar, I already stated this! Its useless to compare a movie with a other movie that shares the same concept, its pointless.

I also know that when it comes to Avatar itself, its so called "simple" story is actually way complex then people tend to overlook alot.
The movie has so much symbolism in it!
The na'vi repsent the native indigenous, African, and well all poc ethnic countries around the world.
The humans or "sky people" are repsenting the greedy corporations that dig up materials, but more then one country literally does this, not just American society.
Its more a anti-colonism and anti-corporation type of action flim, it shows the themes of that very well through out the movie as it progresses.
To add on; it also shows neohumanism & ayahuasce, and humanity vs alternative humanity specifically there is a video by a youtuber specifically that goes deep with the theme of the first avatar film specifically!
As stated it shows so much symbolism that the so called "simple" part of what everyone thinks of the story is actually a more deeper complex way that its simple story, makes it a complete more a masterpiece and the simple story becomes a great deeper story with a hidden message that us the watchers/veiwers that seen it so amazingly amursed into the film, of its characters, story, etc.
James Cameron put alot of blood and sweat and effort into this world building, and his film became hignest grossing for years! And I know for certain that he'll never let us down in the soon to be released avatar the way of water and the other avatar movies!
As said previously all movies will have flaws, but that is ok! Why should we hate something for it simply having flaws, wouldn't make sense. People can dislike/hate it, but hating it for its flaws, and "simple" story is not a good argument to hold. As said its story is deeper then others think thats easily overlooked alot.

You clearly have a pre-disposed bias to this film. You are not analysing it’s seperate aspects with an objective perspective.

Yes. James Cameron is inventing new ways to add depth to characters and stories visually. If only people took his craft more seriously, maybe filmmakers could best him as writers. James Cameron is the master of 3D cinematography and Avatar is the purest and simplest example of his craft

@@EmilianoAguirreSerrano thats how you view it specifically that doesn't mean its exactly cringe. Ones veiw of viewing something as cringe or anything else, doesn't necessarily mean something is cringe to others or necessarily bad itself.
Movies will have flaws, and in the end, it shouldn't matter

I don’t think they understood the concept of the nature. Cameron’s point wasn’t a black and white nature is good, capitalism is bad, but a more fleshed out idea of how human behavior AFFECTS nature. Yes, humans are natural, but that does not give us the right to defile our planet. It’s a “be careful with technology” lesson.

Being a contrarian can often make u look like the smartest person in the room, especially in America. But it can have the opposite effect. It can get so cold that it burns.

I think noone disputes how amazing visuals or world building is, imagination poured into this movie was amazing. And I also don’t have problem with simple stories - I am bothere that it has been told in DUMB, simpletons way. I could not get myself to watch it for the second time. I hate wasted potential and this movies’ world had great potential, which remained mostly unfullfiled.
