    "I hope these idiots at the gate.."
    Shoots him while he's monologing..
    True game play/ true spontaneity!!
    Love it.

    Man, it’s awesome seeing you play with some friends. Having others able to appreciate your enthusiasm in the moment is great. Would love to see more of your personal games if possible, you’re a pretty awesome and creative DM.

    Yessssssss, more more more pleeeeaasseeee!!! This is worthy of turning into a full on mini campaign in its own right. And your two players really are adding to the experience with some deeply expressive and immersive play of their own :-)

    I love seeing how you play with your friends and the spontaneity you interject at each turn! Thank you for not only showing the solo act of ttrpg play but also the collaborative aspect as well!

    More amazing videos! Love this style of play and would love to see more content like this alongside the solo campaign. The format works really well and the 'turn to face the audience' parts really helps when understanding interpretation on the rolls!

    As always, an excellent video. I, for one, need to know what happens next so I’m keen for you and the boys to continue if you’re all willing. Shame about Lord Wren, he was shaping up to be a good villain. At least these lords always have family ready to avenge them in the future. I can’t wait to see how things go in the tower.

    Yes please keep it going! It would be cool (perhaps as another video idea) if you could join in as a player, turning it into a full blown co op RPG with no DM/GM.

    Very useful look behind the curtain at how to operationalize some of the GM emulator tools to run a game, either as a DM or solo. And the story itself plus the PCs was engaging as well. Would certainly be interested in seeing more of their antics.

    That's what this feels like.

    Another brilliant episode, Trevor..... would really love to see more, because this is so entertaining. I love that Sir Vincent is thinking on the fly.... that idea of making out the apparition was his servant was great. Loved it :)
    I do have a question, though: I love that you look at the camera and inform us what's going through your head each time you make a decision, but in a real-time game, do you just do really quick rolls and come up with this stuff on the spot? I ask because you seem to give us pretty involved explanations and it's hard to imagine this stuff comes out so fast.
    eg. The players do something unexpected, you take a second to process, make a roll or two, then just blurt out the reaction.... is that how fast it is usually for you, or do you usually need to pause for a bit before going forward...?

    • @MeMyselfandDieRPG
      @MeMyselfandDieRPG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That’s how fast it is. I rely on my first instincts. Not everyone is like that; but I’ve learned to trust my gut.

    You have become my favorite Actual Play of TTRPG so congrats on the hard work ... it's really paying off. You sold me on Ironsworn and Myhic. I had a great success with Mythic in my last DnD session and will continue using it further.
    QUESTION: Have you looked into Mythic Variations 2? If yes what are your thoughts. I find it quite good and even more granular than the base, although it can be a bit more fiddly at times ... I use it on Foundry Virtual Tabletop so everything is automated.
    Anyway, good job and keep it up :D

    Technically… you should have rolled for imitative before Rat rolled his attack and assigned Lord Ren and Sir Vincent the surprised condition. 🤓 😜

  • @mortgagedad
    @mortgagedad 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Definitely worth pursuing. And thank you for using 5E as well. I think you’ll find the majority of people have been clamoring for this…at least I have. 👍🏼
    SIDE NOTE: Sonething I do on a Solo RPG Facebook group is I always end a session on an event/idea that needs to be rolled using the keywords. I then ask the group as an exercise how to interpret the roll. I always have my idea created before I post it, but it’s amazing to see how others create the next scene using the same words.
    It would be super cool to do that for your audience allowing them to chime in at the end of each episode in order make it more interactive and educational.
    Does that make sense?
    Thoughts?

      I've done something similar in earlier seasons of the main show (asking the audience what might be the name of Simon's crossbow, for example, and other things besides). In the case of "Behind the GM Screen", my focus was on demonstrating how I "go with my gut" and interpret the rolls in the moment; my intention was to show how a GM can use the emulator in real time with their players.

    So when you're running this way, how do you mitigate the loss of emotional momentum when play stops to roll on a table? Do you build up the suspense, by setting the stakes, or do you just try and do it as quickly as possible?

    I would like more. If it has to be 5E then so be it. But run. But run one where you actually enjoy the system and know it! Or maybe you do this while trying to do different systems that you've never tried and wanted to. But I but I like it it definitely shows how it works
