This movie was Soderberg's sophomore effort after he did "sex, lies and video tape". It was overlooked, but I find it a GREAT film and the music is part of what makes it so good. And it was Sir Alec Guiness's last acting role.
I would like to visit Kafka's Museum too, and my mother promised me that we will visit Prague together. His stories changed my perception of the world a lot. He gives readers the opportunity to think differently, but not every reader understands that opportunity. I know German and I've read his original works. It is absolutely fantastic!
I was at the museum just a about a week ago. It was alright, but a large portion of the material was exclusively in German. It really just gives background on his life with original manuscripts and first editions of books. It's interesting, but besides the originals it isn't all that important.

How 'bout the whole score album?
What is the instrument played in the beginning, is it a harp?
As I hear,it's sounds like a cymbalo :)
Zoltán Pataki In the meantime I've found out that it's a hammered dulcimer. :-)
The cymbalom is a type of hammered dulcimer.
KingKaitain Thanks! :-)

buy the DVD. It's worth it
Today bureaucracy defeated me.
I wonder what sense makes to play balkan folklore music in movie about german speaking Jew living in Prague.
maybe because music does not care of border. this kind of folklore music had been played from lituania to romania. and so for cimbalum
roaaaar It also brings to mind a similar group of outsiders, the Roma.
It's a sensitiv, mystic sound, which reproduce very good (in my opinion) the Atmosphere of Kafkas dark and faszinating world
