What a Lovely View looking out across the Pumice Desert toward Mt Thielsen in the distance....thanks for taking us along. I love it when the thru-hikers I'm following finally make my home here in Central Oregon....😁

Those are seed heads 12:55 rather than flowers of the Western Pasque Flower. That same species in flower is at 11:33.

I had seen in previous TA post that there are new concessionaires for Mazama Village and that they are not catering to thru hikers, and to not count on the store at the Village for a resupply. Has FarOut been updated with this info? I'm a proud native Oregonian and finished the PCT Oregon Sections last year. I'm pretty proud of the way Oregon embraces the hiker community, and I'm really so sorry you experienced this. Hope the rest of Oregon is great for you. Will you be at trail days in Aug?

Did you read about the native inhabitants in the area when it blew? It's so interesting, and they have their own lore about it.

I believe the reason the official PCT does not go up to the lake is because horses are not allowed along the rim trail. Since the PCT is a hiker AND equestrian trail the official route has to stay below the rim. You'll run in to a similar situation when you have the choice to take the Eagle Creek alternate route in northern Oregon. Horses are unable to go down that trail, so the "official" and boring route heads down to Cascade Locks through the trees. Both the Crater Lake Rim Trail and Eagle Creek Trail (with its beautiful water falls) are by far the better way for hikers. I enjoy your videos!

You got through just before we camped there. I checked anyone that was wearing a backpack, and I felt like such a stalker! Anyway, it was so cool to see that you were there, and that you liked it. You guys are really putting some miles in. WTG and can’t wait to see you cross the finish line. Cheering for you and your Sardines 🐟

You guys are fun to watch. Every night I get my dinner and head I to the tv room to watch you two. I’m on the PCT next year. You guys are absolutely crushing it! (Husky Hiker, Vancouver Island, Canada)

Love these videos!! Interesting to see when you show everybody sitting on the ledge overlooking Crater Lake at 10:03....only ONE person in this group was actually looking at and appreciating Crater Lake. EVERYBODY else had their noses in their phones, ignoring Crater Lake. That's crazy.

The PNW is chiefly Washington and Oregon, but sometimes Northern California and the Idaho Panhandle are also included in the region.

I don't know if Crater Lake has the clearest water, but it is clearer than Lake Tahoe. Wanda Lake in the Sierra is pretty darn clear too. It's been over 10 years since the last time I was at Crater Lake. It is so beautiful.

The National Parks have funding for roads and trail maintenance vs. the National Forests being much more limited yet with far more miles. Keep in mind when you hear talk in politics about cutting funds for National Parks.

Park service can use chainsaws to clear trail. Not so in the Wilderness areas.

This was a great video! Crater Lake is gorgeous! So after you said it, I googled it: Mt. Greylock at 3, 491 ft. Is the highest mountain in MA. I was there last fall for a music festival in N. Adams, MA.

And you thought you were done with snow. 😃 BTW, National Parks have more money to take care of trails. Maybe that’s why the blowdowns were cleaned up. 😃

It would have been so good if you had inserted a short video of someone pushing the easy button after you went over the four steps of the creation of Crater Lake.

Good that you went through there before the big wildfire started by lightening. Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the USA. From NPS website: Evaporation and seepage are equal forces which keep Crater Lake from filling beyond an average depth of 1,943 ft (592 m) or 4.9 trillion gal (18.6 trillion L) of water. About 34 billion gal (128 billion L) are gained and lost each year. The yearly average snowfall on Crater Lake, as of 2020, is 42 ft (13 m) with an average yearly precipitation (rain and melted snow) of 67 in (2 m). Average snowfall has been decreasing since the 1930's when it was recorded at 51 ft (16 m).

I was at Crater last SEP (by car - no idea at the time what the PCT was) and there was a haziness to the area due to fires in the area. The area reminds me of that time, too bad I could see what you saw, minus the haze. Keep on truckin' !

Really weird because the guy I'm following whom I believe to be the farthest up north wen through Cheater Lake and there was a ton of smoke, then he had to flap up north due to fires and yet you guys haven't said q thing abo fires. It would be really nice if you added the date of the video for reference.
