Just got back from vacation and haven't slept in 36 hrs (traveling). It'll be nice to get back into the swing of things, but the thing I'm MOST looking forward too? SLEEP. Absolutely genius never fails to emerge from this channel. Whiskey experts cut their teeth and prove themselves through one thing, the blind taste test, and you have discovered that there are infinite variations to suit anyone and beyond. By designing taste tests that cater to the level where people are at you are transmuting the fear of the taste test and thereby also removing the fear of whiskey for all mankind. Congratulations! Outstanding work and commitment to objective truth by everyone involved.
I have such a hard time with realizing what flavors are what when I taste whiskey. The big thing I go for is just is it enjoyable to drink without any weird flavors, like that "what is that" flavor that comes through. I find that peated whiskeys really give me that enjoyment when I taste it, but I don't know why beyond enjoying that smokey flavor and smell.
This is so right. I just did a semi-blind line-up and these were the results: 1. Woodford Double Oaked 2. Millstone Rye 10 year old 3. Michter’s Rye Single Barrel 4. Jack Daniel’s Rye (yes you read that right) 5. Balcones Pot Still Bourbon 6. High West Double Rye 7. Eagle Rare 10 year old 8. Rittenhouse Rye BiB 9. Elijah Craig 12 year old Small Batch Number 9 is my ‘this is amazing stuff, I can’t believe I found it for €30’ whisky. I thought I LOVED this whisky. Also, JDRye that high?
Very fun concept! But I think it was really hard to follow because I didn't recognize half the people, it was missing that initial setup and introduction of people -with that, it would've been much more interesting to see which whiskey each person was chosing, because I forgot by the time they started tasting who was who
I just need to be that guy for a second... Penelope... puh·neh·luh·pee. I do this ONLY because it was named after the founder's daughter. And since Rex is kind enough to say my last name correctly, I wanted to be certain he got this one down correctly too. 🖖😎🥃
This sorta hilights on of my favorite aspects of whiskey. Sharing favorite pours with friends! It's always interesting to see what one person enjoys in a pour from another, and often times you'll find that you really really love it too! Awesome vid
Smells are very good at cementing a memory, so if you had a really good time at some point. Drinking a specific type of whiskey. That one moment in time might make the liquor taste all the more sweet :) At least that is how I have experienced it.
My favorite whiskey is one thats consistent, smokey, and fairly priced for it's quality. So I go with a bourbon, Jack Daniels. I have major love for a few other specifics that I think I could pick out of a line up with Jack. Bushmills and Jameson at the top of that list. I can 100% tell those three apart, but I am sure there others that I wouldn't be able to separate from them. So, all that said to get to this... what are the suitable replacements for Jack, Bush, and James when available?
How is Briana so proud of herself for finding her favorite?! It’s like finding an ostrich egg in an Easter Egg Hunt! It’s the biggest one of the bunch, there’s just no hiding it.
I have a couple of go to's that for me are hard to beat. My standard is Bulleit Rye, I do a rye n water with a half teaspoon of sugar to bring out the breadlike flavors. Basil Hayden is my favorite bourbon that isn't ridiculously priced, and it is borderline!
Bunnahabhain 12 was my favourite for years, and then I got the most recent batch and it's no longer my favourite. I think in part, I have changed, but also in part, Bunna has changed too.
I'm always amazed at how my blind rankings can change over time. Discriminating bad from good is pretty static, but choosing a favorite from a selection of good whiskeys is widely variable. So, whenever someone asks me what my favorite is, I just say it depends on the day.
Picking your own whisky when it's the only peated one.. that's sort of cheating no? I'd like to see Briana (and the others) pick theirs from a lineup with other whiskies from the same region. That'd be even more interesting!
Had a whisky tasting with friends today and were talking about favorite whiskies just today. I still have a Glenfiddich 18 and when I bought this years ago I thought it was one of the best whiskies ever. But now I find it boring. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad whisky at all. But I like more interesting flavor profiles and I’ve learned and now love to drink peated whiskey.
Just pitching an idea here.. What if you would aim a 24/7 webcam on a whisky barrel so everyone can follow that whisky ripening 😮😮😮 Best idea ever right?
Whoa I don't know what is going on with the YTmaster but I havent seen my fav channel on my feed in almost 2 months. Not cool. I'm so glad we reconnected. My shattered hip of a heart is now full. 😂 Jkjk. What about some black olives whisk? Is it possible?
This was a fun video, but it would have been really helpful if you had captions to introduce/identify the people as you were testing. It took me the whole danged video to figure out who Skylord is, and I'm still not sure who Pena is...
An interesting Pepsi challenge type blind taste test is to have three glasses, two with one drink and one with the other. With most people it eliminates their ability to distinguish between coke and Pepsi.
I misread the title at first. I thought for a second it said is your favourite whiskey tracking you, like it has an RFID bottle cap or contains barium or something.
@taylornoel 0 seconds ago There’s a story in my family where my grandma gave a book report about a character named “Pee-nah-lope” and got deducted points because it was in fact pronounced “Pen-el-oh-pee”. If she was alive today, I’m sure she would have loved your pronunciation :)
@@chrisparker5278 The climate (and barrels) makes all the difference. A _lot_ can happen in 3-4 years in the Texas heat, while that would barely do anything in a chilly Scottish cellar. It's a different ball game. They've got some videos on the topic if you're interested.
Yeah but whiskey's change over time. Every year a whiskey can have a different flavor due to enviromental changes in the area where the ingredients come from. Personally I think whiskeys should also be dated, like wine is.

"I'm NONE of those things!" said the tiny woman in a loud, aggressive voice. :D I love the multifaceted nature of this channel.
tastes a bit gluey - "It reminds me of parts of my childhood" says Brianna confessing her glue eating years. This explains a lot. LOL
Where the hell did the "TikTakCackTailzzzz" go??? Bring them back!!!!
Pee-noh-lope 😂😂 Rex, those 36 hours of no sleep have affected you badly 🤣 Pin-el-oh-pee baby. As in Lady Penelope
I had to rewind to confirm that too. It hurt my brain to read Penelope as Peenolowp
Oh thank gawd!!! It wasn't just me that had eye-twitching triggers... That said, I read an entire book mispronouncing Siobhan in my head.
penelope rhymes with cantaloupe
I’m pretty sure he said it that way on purpose…
So this COULD be a Club Dread reference…but he said it so straight-faced, I can’t tell.
I appreciate Kyle's approach. That was yesterday's favorite. This is today's.😅
"Slight glue note"
"Reminds me of parts of my childhood"
She definitely ate glue as a kid.
I mean, who didn't?
Who are we kidding? She probably ate glue last week.
Next weeks episode? "DISTILLED Elmer's Glue"
@@d-rot I was gonna say she probably still enjoys some glue from time to time!🤣
Lagavulin slogan…There is no glu in Here ,this is perfection…catchie…😂

Can't stop admiring the barrel background wall cuz that's what the camera is focused on lol
I can't stop looking at BOTH of Rex's sunglasses. Why TWO???????
Or... why only two?

Can wait to call my friend Penny, "PenoLope". 👍🤣👍
Gotta love how Rex pronounced "Penelope" :))))) What exactly is "peen elope", Rex?
It is a member of the deer family that, instead of antlers, has a multi pronged schlong. 😅
Everyone talking about Penelope, here's me thinking we need more Skylord on the show. 😍

I’ve never had it before, but this high in this line-up? I’m talking about the regular JD Rye. It’s €20 where I’m at.
I'm just surprised that Balcones didn't rank 9, as in, "let's see if we can pour this bottle down the drain in 9 seconds."
"There's no glue in here. This is perfection." Love it.
Lagavulin is hard to miss, aye 🤣😂🤣

Rex's fav summertime treat is a good ripe cantelopeeeee
I like my Dewar's 12!!
Impeccable taste wins....hmmm!!! Love the video!!
#review Glenmorangie Nectar d'or and Evan Williams B.I.B
Skyla really needs to move up to Makers 46. It blows regular Makers out of the water.

Nope, currently sipping on "Vina" from Puni, Marsala casks. Great stuff.
But my favourite was that glass of 12 year old Van Winkle.
Wait...how did you pronounce Penelope??? Pen-a-lope? What the...Pen EL O Pee...come on, Rex... :D
Interesting video!
Best line: "It's got a weird mouth experience." Weird Mouth Experience is also a great band name. Just sayin'.
Title of your sex tape

My current favorite whisky is glenlivet carribean reserve.
Peenolope
Rex is a “Club Dread” fan
And the real winner is - women have better taste than men! ❤

It will forever be peenalope for me now 😂

If it was my favourite whisky to have a little taste of, it would be obvious which one it was.
I love that smokehead Islay scotch.
Sent that message during the sponsor, just before Briana's Islay scotch, that would make it slightly harder 😆
MAKERS MARK for the WIN!!!
I misread the title at first. I thought for a second it said is your favourite whiskey tracking you, like it has an RFID bottle cap or contains barium or something.
Yeah! Kyle knows whats going on!!! You're suposed to have a favorite whiskey every day! It might be the same, it might not
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Princess Bri looking like an absolute doll as always.
I’m the first one!
What im learning is i need to buy makers mark
Maybe it's because we considered naming our daughter Penelope, but it's puh·neh·luh·pee.
1:37 Club Dread?
By far the weirdest pronunciation of of Penelope I've ever heard lmao.
It caught me off guard, who tf says penelope like that? I inhaled my lemonade.
You guys neve look loaded, I don't know how you do it. I had some Glenlivet 1824 last night and was gooned from 10 minutes in.
I'm a hard-o didn't understand the funded rankings and guesses 😊

As a Brit 🇬🇧 I am stunned by Americans say how GREAT 4- year old ageing is when 12 is our standard and 4 is our no age statement junk

Bourbon differs from scotch, climate differs
"loud"
"tiny"
"agressive"
'where are you pulling these from?'
hm I wonder lmao
Penileope?
Lagavulin charred oak is the best of the offerman lines.
Makers mark is a sleeper in every blind the TH-cam community does.
The funniest thing is that Rex is the most famous whisky youtuber in the world. If you told him this like 7 years ago... 😂
Peen-a-lope, and Heel-eye, that's two swings and two misses. You need to catch up on that sleep you are missing.
Penal-ope 🤣. It's pronounced Pen-el-oh-pee .... like the name
👍🏻
Elijah Craig small batch is Evan Williams 1873. Prove me wrong…..
PEEN-e-lope? pen-EL-o-pee... It is the name of Odysseus's wife, and It is not an uncommon name today.
Yeah, Peanuhloap
Is this a wiskey video or a mattress video
I feel like having briana's substantially different whiskey threw the whole thing off
What happened to Brianna’s results?
Do all of that and not crown which whisky most favored???
Did he say "Pee-na-lope?" Isn't it Pen-el-o-pee??
Did hiring a ginger raise your company's insurance rates?
Like, fire insurance goes up for living in the... Danger Zone!
I've heard Penelope goes with Cantaloupe... Or was that Antelope??
Whats with the damn desk behind a computer videos all of the sudden?
Peenalope?? I hope you guys realize thats a persons name Pen El Oh Pee
Penelope is pronounced: Peh-Neh-Loh-Pee...
Peen a lope.🤣🤣🤣🤣👍🥃
Peenolope? You son-of-a
its not kyle, its "kahh"
The red hair girl is a hottie , woods? I mean this is a good review 😂

Isn't it 'Peh-neh-low-pee'?
You need to put their names on them because I don't know these people for nothing.
That's not how you say the name of that whisky.
Why so out of focus...?
For Gods sake It's pronounced Pen- elle- 0h' pea. Not pea-nell-ope. !!!!!!!! arrrgh!!!!
We love the peen-elope!
Skylord Sniffington!!!!
