I mean carl was like a bartender you order cocktail, ask you question then give you the drink & move on...Jeff would be like you sit on the bar he'll smile & sell you a drink, give a joke with the drink & sell you a different drink & the loop goes on!!! I don't know Jeff's like robin Williams or will Smith dropping comment & funny opinion on cocktails!!!

Let me tell you something, the two cocktail videos got me into a deep dark rabbithole into the history and the art of mixology. It's just so fascinating how much lore a profession which at the surface seems so insignificant has and how much tie in it has with much of the historical events which we are taught in school, and how much it can tie in with how our society has shifted over the decades and continues to.

Amigo, I truly appreciate your approach. If you have a channel of your own, I would follow. Been tracking woman and Asian bartenders, but would equally like to track Black bartenders of historical significance, so thank for that bit on Stone sours. there are so many ways this concept can be expanded!!!!!
instead of just the commentary you can invite a guest. Doesn't have to be a popular personality or anything.
You can bring the grandpa from checking the kitchen gadgets or just some random person.(Most preferably someone with a unique taste to them or just old people. They usually have so much to say)
If you are concerned that the video might end up being too long, you can prepare a set of questions to ask them like how they really got into doing what they are doing, how their parents reacted to them doing this job initially (like being a bar tender is usually not something a parent might think their kid might end up doing) when they first discovered their passion etc:- by asking questions in between, this video can become a bit more personal.
If you do end up implementing it, I just want you to tell the grandpa from testing kitchen gadgets that i love him sooooooooooo much and given him a little bonus for this idea.
    Thank You

Some things in the video are not super "traditional", such as the old fashioned being stirred and not built, but I hope this goes to show that you don't necessarily need to be "right" in every way when enjoying cocktails. Stir your old fashioned. Maybe try your martini actually 'shaken and not stirred'. If there is a way that deviates from the original method and it tastes good, then thats another right way to do it.

Nice to see the Old Fashioned done right. So many places I’ve gone to use Fireball, which I don’t think is right.

You need to specify what to use then.
Because even though the cocktail needs bourbon. There are so many brands,if you say nothing then the bartender will just go a step lower and use Fireball" which everybody knows that's a sweetened whiskey.

Ok but an Old Fashioned" is made using bourbon. Whiskey isn't wrong but it lacks that spiciness that bourbon has by default.

    • @karl_alan
      @karl_alan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-xs5bl9dy6d but fireball isn't whiskey. It's a liquer.
According to the body that governs alcohol in the US, it can't even be called whiskey legally because of all the flavorings and sugar added, so they have to call it a distilled spirit specialty.
Legally, whiskey can only contain grains and water, and needs to be at least 40 proof. Fireball is neither. And it's not even bourbon based before they add all the flavorings and water it down.
An old fashioned is supposed to be bourbon based. And they can even use the bottom shelf, which is way cheaper than fireball, but it should be bourbon. Bourbon needs to be at least 51%corn, aged in new oak, enter the barrel at no more than 62.5% alcohol, and released at no less than 40% alcohol. None of that applies to flavored liqueurs

I was under the impression that when using raw egg always do a dry shake. Is this the case? I noticed no dry shake on the whiskey sour.

He was going for that fluffier texture which you can't get with that dry shake.
