LS1 Camaro Header Install: Removal of Old Parts

- This header install series applies mainly to 1998-2002 LS1-powered Firebird's, Trans Am's, and Camaro's. This is a Long Tube kit incorporating a Y pipe so if you plan on having a similar aftermarket setup you MIGHT still benefit from watching even if you differ in brand/supplier.

I'm just wondering how you took off the dipstick tube off. I mean i removed to bolt holding it but can't remove it from the oil pan.
ColdStone Airsoft My popped out with a little pulling force. Maybe try some penetrate oil at the bottom collar
I hope you can help me with this. I just took my oem exhaust off, and my new exhaust doesn't have ports for the rear 02 sensors or the egr. Did yours have these missing as well? And do you have any tips for deleting them if so.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with other systems or doing custom metal fab to fit those accessories onto a different system. I bought this set on purpose because I didn't have to worry about any of that. The SLP kit includes holes and flanges for everything as long as you get the kit specific to your year. There are cheaper headers out there but this is the problem they make you run into. Sorry I can't help.

Most headers don’t come with rear o2s you don’t need them because they’re for the cats. You can have them tuned out if you send your computer to Texas speed or any tuning shop.
just wondered how you made out with taking off the manifold bolts? From the top, bottom, easy, tricks?

Try any 3/8 drive friendly U joints or swivel sockets if you have a hard time with them
How do you like the SLP longtubes? Guessing you also had to get a tune afterward?
Wes Ankney I have a video outlining my opinion on them after this install if you'd like to know more. And no, I didn't have a tune performed. I haven't found it necessary

So all you had to take off the engine to do the headers were just the spark plug wires, plugs, and o2's?
Plug wires, plugs, misc elec connectors, AIR tubes, steering shaft, O2s are what I remember off the top of my head. Anything else should be in the video
@@chevyfan1251992 awesome, thanks. Could this be a 1 day job with 2 people? I just ordered some speed engineering headers and a true dual kit exhaust from them as well. All bolt ons. No welding or cutting. So hoping I can get it done in a day?
@@joshjones5100 unfortunately I know nothing about true dual set ups on these cars and I took multiple days to install my set here. I wasn't in a rush but if I had everything all I once I could probably bust the job out alone in 2 days
