    *Great machine for the price! Pretty powerful **MyBest.Tools** and light to carry around the home. I definitely recommend this saw for any homeowner. Also, came with an extra blade. I was very satisfied with the overall quality and price.*

    Superb quality throughout, easy to assemble. I found the saw to be highly accurate and a delight to use (I am a homeowner using this saw for various projects). I attached the saw to a folding mobile stand to save space and that works great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe as well. However, you have to be sure the saw is securely locking in position before collapsing the stand. I've had many of the brands over the years and have come to point where I only buy Bosch, the extra money is a small price to pay for the quality and ease of use. Treat yourself to the best.

    Thanks so much for this review and demonstration. I've been looking at this exact model. Also thanks to the lady doing the video capture. It makes all the difference in the world to have the picture always in focus and able to move around as you show the different parts. Your kitty assistant is cute too!

    Hey Scotty,
    I've had my saw for 2 yearsand never could figure out where those "J" hooks went. You're right though and the hooks are really for a simple function. I knew there was no critical purpose for them but I didn't throw them away because I payed my money for this equipment.✏📏📐🔧🔨😉 Thanks

      You're more than welcome thank you for taking the time to watch my video and after 2 years you get to figure out where the J hooks went to good job I'm glad you didn't throw away either and wonderful day

    Thanks so much for your video, I watched a few others and they didn't touch on what I wanted to know, which was what the 2 plastic "J" hooks (as you called them) where for and were they attached. I felt like an idiot when I saw how they attach in your video, it was driving me nuts trying to figure them out. I couldn't find anything anywhere in the manual or on the website to tell me and after looking all over the saw I just didn't know. I recently upgraded to the new Chicago Electric 12" miter saw, great sale got it for $50 less then I paid for the last one 12 years ago, although this one didn't come with a blade, the new one has a much better laser and several new improvements, the last one I had still worked after 12 years of use, just had a few issues. Like the battery operated laser, it only worked for a few hours, the other main issue was the back adjustment knob broke off just a few months ago. The metals they use to make the saw kinda suck but when you price this type of saw anywhere else well the math....$139 verses $599.

    I bought a 12” double bevel from harbor freight. I took it out of the box and walked away. Today I went to use it, discovered it doesn’t have a blade. I do not see the book or anything else. I don’t see the j hooks, or hold down. I wasn’t sure how to turn it on until I watched your video. Thanks for the info. I have subscribed now.

    Was thinking about getting the 10 in sliding saw however after watching your review, I am probably going to spend the extra money and get the 12 in. Double bevel one you reviewed. Thank you for being clean, and not cursing. Great job on the video and explanation on adjusting the 45s. Sometimes those things are off right out of the box. Great job.

    I have the Chicago Electric miter saw stand, a great buy for a $100. I had the Tool Shop 10” saw on it. The saw was 7 years old, had a kick back that broke the safety shield on the blade. I could not find the correct shield on line, and Menards was absolutely useless in locating a part number or ordering one. The Tool Shop saw now sitting. I bought the Admiral 12” and have used it quite a bit in the first month. Outside work covering it with a tarp. No rust on the saw stand, only a little rust on the blade. It rains in Northern Michigan a lot in the summer, high humidity too. When buying the Admiral, the saw blade came down to the deciding issue over buying the Chicago Electric.

    Not that I need one (well maybe I do) but I really want one of those Hercules compound miter saws from Harbor Freight. Maybe come Christmas time I will treat myself to one. That thing is a beast and looks like it will cut through anything! That Chicago Electric appears to be a nice miter saw also. I have a Black and Decker that is a miter saw, just not a compound miter saw, that is about 15 years old and still going strong. I think that is from a time when the company was still making the saws in America, I am not sure. Great tutorial. Thanks.
    Love your little cat who probably isn't little anymore. She sure is a ham. I guess she is used to the sound of saws running, because most cats would have run for the hills when you first turned your saw on, but she didn't. LOL.

    Nice work sir a very complete review. since starting about 4 years ago working with my uncle flipping and a wide variety of repairs on houses as well as carpet services and mold mediation, fire and water damage with put back. I in the beginning thought harbor freight was the best but now no way. I have own a band saw, lathe, several air tools with 2 different compressors, angle grinder, as well as your 12" and a 10" miter sliding. all have broke and died or have been highly modified to keep them working correctly I only buy things that are cheap that I need for a single job or they are consumables (i.e. glue tape gloves nails). and $100 is my stopping point. the best example are the miters they were bought 5 years apart first was the 10" it started falling apart 5 mths into its life. after the 1 year mark u were constantly checking squarness of blade fighting with slide sticking and if the fence was straight along its length. come to find out the fence had been bent from the factory. I finally made my own fence after putting up with it for so long we bought a new one and upgraded to the 12" wouldn't you know it had the same defect the fence was bent in the middle area I put it back in the box and got my money back. thus ending my big item purchases there. im sure you have already checked it but for my mind set look at the back fence again plz lol

    • @Snowdog216
      @Snowdog216 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good video, and pardon the slight diversion to a different model. I have the 61969 model also and it is slightly different. The nut that holds the blade in is blocked by the Guard Pivot Plate. The instructions say to loosen a bolt #193 and rotate the plate back. Of course #193 does not appear on the break out diagram, I could be missing it, but I don't think so. I'll go back and should be able to figure it out. Also mine came with some springs attached to plastic squares. Anyone know what those are for. Thanks.

    So I took my 12" Chicago Electric Double Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw Model 61970 out of the box this past weekend. I got it all set up I thought. I followed the user manual for each step to install the blade for the first time I used the diagram to ensure I put the correct part in the correct place. BUT, after tightening the bolt to reattach the arbor and outer flange (hand tight as tightened down as i could make it, the blade would not spin and the engine began to over heat. I emailed their customer service line and was told to go buy a 5/8"-1" arbor bushing (basically a big washer) and use it. Except the saw came with that size bushing, I did use it and the blade either would not turn at all or if I loosened the bolt slightly the blade immediately wobbled out of control and I stopped the saw right away. Any experience with this problem of the blade refusing to spin after tightening down the bolt?

    It is forced to stop just before it completes the cut leaving maybe a half inch of wood left.
    Must be doing something wrong. Any ideas? Also, used it twice before the blade guard broke. The screw holding the metal bar on came
    out of the guard because the plastic broke.

    Question can you show or tell me how to calibrate the angles

    • @wolvesr4ever38
      @wolvesr4ever38  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Bibidty: To be able the calibrate the saw for angles is simple. you have two hex nuts on the side of the Miter saw. You have two red arrows. you need to make a 45 degree cut to verified if the saw is correct. If the saw is out of measure then use the hex nuts to adjust the angle until you the correct cut. You need to adjust the red arrows correctly so you will have the correct measurement. You might be off with the arrows but understand that might be out of adjustment. both of my arrows are not on 0 degree left side and right side is a little off but both are correct to cut my miter angles. I hope this helped. Thank you for watching.

    I remember using my new saw for the very first time...well, I cut a board too short on the first cut, then I cut that rascal three more times and it was still too short! 😆

      You need to cut it two more times and all will be well.😵

      @wolvesr4ever38  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you probably can but my recommendation you'll have to get the Arbor to match it up to one inch if it's most 10 in are 5/8 Arbor so probably not

    Hi Scott could u go into more debt about setting the 45 degree angles on the saw thx biddy

    • @wolvesr4ever38
      @wolvesr4ever38  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ray Crenshaw make sure use a speed square to get a 45-degree cut first and use it as a guide there are two Allen set screws on the side of the saw when you tilt the saw your loosen one at a time and you'll be able to set the 45 degree true 45 degree angle using the guide and that will be where you put your red arrow for your true 45 degree cut follow what I put on the TH-cam channel and I'll help you out minor priest minor already setting the way I need them most of the miter saws has to be adjusted especially the harbor freights the rest of them are pretty much true understanding that a 90° is 0

    Hi, would you use this to cut baseboards at angle? Some say this model is to inaccurate for precision work.

    • @wolvesr4ever38
      @wolvesr4ever38  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lahut Mosher Precision work anyway is usually used off of a 10 inch but for me I've got a better blade for that 12 inch and just go slow and be your best work yet thank you for taking the time to watch the video

      Its only as accurate as the person who sets it up. I took the time and set mine up properly when I got it bolted down to my mobile workstation. Most people just yank them out of the box plug them in and start cutting stuff, then bitch whine and moan because its not accurate...well duh, they are shipped over here on a slow boat from China, they get thrown around, bumped, dropped, etc. They're bound to be out of adjustment upon arrival and the stores do not do anything other than take them off the pallet and sell them to you. All accuracy checks and adjustments are on the buyer.
      Mine was pretty well set right out of the box, I adjusted the little red pointer to show the bevel more accurately but other than that it was really dang close.

      This model is in fact too inaccurate for consistent precision cuts.... the saw's parts (not necessarily saying the table of the saw) was made with a thin casting therefore doesn't provide enough stability to keep all components from flexing as the saw is being motioned inward/outward and up/down. Just use a base dial indicator where by place the base of it on the table of the saw. Place the dial indicator against the saw blade. Now pull down on the saw's handle and you will see the the dial on your indicator's gauge showing the blade is tilting out of alignment. Although some models/years of this saw was made decently, it's probably more for just typical use. If you want quality parts and precision but have approx 500.00 n up to pull out of your pocket there is Dewalt, Bosch, Milwaukee, and a couple others.

      Tell that to my saw then because mine does just fine, and I've done several picture frames and base trim with mine and the cuts come out just fine. Must be a user error if your saw doesn't do the same. The proper setup is key.

      william todd,
      Telling it to your saw won't solve the initial problem of you jumping the gun to make claims before doing your homework... just because your particular saw does what it should for you, does not in any way mean that it must be other people's errors and not their saw that is to blame. These saws were not all made at the same factory and therefore leaves the door WIDE OPEN for more inconsistencies in quality materials and production techniques. There are also AT LEAST 4 different model numbers that this saw has been manufactured under: 61969/61970/ 61776/69684 thus the same over all product produced at different times but yet produced with varying degrees of designs and quality of the parts.
      I have also personally experienced it as well as read numerous times on reviews of how people thought they were buying a particular model because it was shown how that one was made with better quality than the same product produced at a different time, but when it was opened it up, the product was actually a different model number than what was listed on the factory sealed retail box and so what happened is that the factory had a bunch of previous model's retail boxes left over from that production run and so when they ended that version they just put the newer version into the older version's retail boxes.
      ....and proper set up is definitely part of the key that's sometimes necessary to fine tune a tool in order to get it to perform properly, but there are other factors pointing the finger directly at harbor freight and their made in china, taiwan, india products before coming to the conclusion of saying it must be a user error.
