Greatly Appreciate your research, all the efforts in the preparation and the excellent elaboration of the Portuguese activity, their colonies and their religious fervour and contributions in South India especially the Madras region( Chennai). I'm a descendant of Portuguese-Indians and we are from Cochin, currently residing in Chennai( Madras). Thank you for documenting it with the Maps, paintings and all requisite details.

Thank you for the kind comment and for the recognition. I tried to condense such a far-reaching topic into a few minutes' video. Undoubtedly, the historic Portuguese presence in the Coromandel has suffered less glamor or interest than its Malabar counterpart. However, it is important to investigate and share this important aspect of the region's past.
In fact, the greatest difficulty was not to find maps and documents, but rather to give a popular cut to the video, in order to make it accessible to the general public without being too restrictive and niche.

Hola everyone.. I'm the descendant of Portuguese in Malacca Malaysia since 1511. We have a village of all Malaccan Portuguese living and we are called "Kristang". We still speak the antique Portuguese till present. It's nice to know the Portuguese world outside. Muito bong! 😀👍🏾🇲🇾🇵🇹

Very true !!!!! ... I'm an architecture student and we did a detailed study of Santhome ... Madre de Deus .. is the Mother of God church of which is now only an elevation of it remains ... There was a fort in Santhome too and many churches in and around the fort ...
    The Churches are ....
    1. Santhome Cathedral ( Existing now )
    2. Rosery Church ( Existing now )
    3. St. Rita's Chapel ( Existing now )
    4. Luz Church ( Existing now )
    5. Madre de Deus - Mother of God church locally Madha church and the road was named after it ( only the remains of elevation )
    6. St. Augustus Church
    7. St. Lazarus Church ( Existing now )
Thank you for a wonderful content on history and heritage that is not - know - to - many of the South India

It is my pleasure! I hope you've enjoyed it, and thanks for sharing so many interesting details! :)
Unfortunately, the awareness of Indian memory and heritage is being forgotten at a fast pace, especially the one concerning facts far from the mainstream version sold to foreign tourists or projected by the film industry.
For this reason I hope that my contribution can serve to keep alive a memory that otherwise will vanish in almost unnoticed indifference.

@@TheGeekySimo For knowing more about the history and heritage of Madras you can refer the book -
Madras Rediscovered: A Historical Guide to Looking Around
It is a book on the history of Madras by historian S. Muthiah an ameture historian and heritage activist
For an documented history you can also refer the book -
Vestiges of Old Madras, 1640-1800 from the East India Company's Records by Henry Davison Love
which was also used by S. Muthiah

      @@vinithamilevahanan thanks for the suggestion!
I will definitely read Muthias's book. I have read "vestiges of old Madras". That was in fact one of the reason that pushed me to getting involved more in producing content not only about South India only, but about Chennai in particular. And, as I told you before, doing my part to contribute preserving the memory and promoting history about one of the cities that played a primary role in Indian history.

      I can't exclude that 😀
In fact, the exploratory and colonial vicissitudes of Portugal, especially in Asia, are a topic of deep interest to me.

Its sad to see the historical legacies in India are Fading out, its time to bring uniqueness to each and every city respective of its history. People are too ignorant nowadays, dont even care about their rich history.

Couldn't agree more. Those are in fact the conditions that risk making national history the object of speculation by a politician or a political movement. Fortunately, history is objective and cannot be rewritten to manipulate and mobilize masses. The only solution is to preserve and pass it on to the next generations.
