You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
This is the first version of this type of sled I've seen on "the youtubes". So simple and basic but does what it does really well. Have any of the "big" woodworking youtubers' shown this type of jig? Well done and thanks.
Brilliant! I have a tiny garage and don't really have room for a mitre saw and a (much desired and soon to purchase) table saw .... so now I don't need the mitre saw and I'll give it to my son. Superb - much appreciated .. oh and a really good vid; not boring at all as you have compressed everything very nicely. Great work and thanks.
I’ve not seen this kind of sled, but have been in cutting situations many times where it would have been helpful to have. I also like your method for squaring the fence. I’ve not seen that before either and seems like a good way to get and accurate fence the first time.
Good build! Setting the miter gauge square to the blade only works if the blade is perfectly square to the miter slots. If the blade isn't square to the miter slots, the cut won't be square. If the blade isn't square to the miter slots BUT the sled fence is square to the miter slots, you still get square cuts. They're just wider that the blade's natural kerf.
Thank you for sharing this work as I just purchased a Dewalt table saw and I wanted a simple jig for cutting larger pieces. Thanks a bunch!!!! lindalou/omaha ne
Yeah as said below not boring! Im a complete noob with a table saw and am about to buy one, perhaps you could do a tips n tricks video on what can be achieved with one. I thought your vinyl storage unit was ace and really helped me to visualise the cuts and different jointing methods. ☺
I own the dewalt 7491rs so I enjoy watching you create and work with your saw. I have found those miter slots to be the saws worst pain in the rear! That coating they put on creates uneveness along the length of the slots!
I could never get my jigs to slide freely like I wanted too and usually ended up trimming them to where I had too much play, using the card scraper! Why didn't I think of that? Thanks Keith
Hello Keith. I understand it sound stupid in reading the measurement rail on a dewalt 745 table saw. I don't know which measurement represents centimetre or millimetre , as I have same table saw. It would be wonderful if you could bring a video on how to read it in order to get precise measurement cuts
Anyone have advice on how to achieve a larger rip capacity on a Dewalt 745 jobsite saw? I already know about shifting the fence down to the end of the rack and pinion rails, but that only ads a few more inches, putting me at about 24”. It also throws my tape out of whack.
- support on both sides, useful for smaller pieces - no wobbling because there is support from below on both sides - possibility to set up stop blocks - zero clearance - possibly more accuracy because of 2 runners in 2 slots is what comes to my mind on a quick thought
Id seriously look at the dewalt 7491rs. Super, super stable yet completely mobile. I've been completely happy with the saw save for the miter slots which are an achilles heel for the machines. I bought an incra miter guage which solved most of those issues.
Nice job! I'd avoid the hot glue though. It never lets you get the two pieces flush up against each other. It takes longer (waiting for it to dry), but a proper would glue would be best. Second best -- if you're in a hurry -- is a fast-setting epoxy.
Sorry did not make myself clear. i was referring to the fence on the panel cutting sled. your fence is away from you and seeing Anthony Scolaros one for example it's towards him. sorry english not very good.
I was wondering about the same thing. Yesterday i received my own first DeWalt745 and this was also the first thing i made (with it) but i also made the fence at the front before remembering that you put it at the other side (farther away from you). I can imagine that you can cut taller boards with it, that way? Although it feels a little scary to me, because you are pushing it while you are 'behind' the sawblade?
Are you sure your table saw is DW745? DW745 and its newer version, DW7480, don't have T-track. Check out this page comparing DW7480 and DW7490X: www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/RJOKEXD3TE96P/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00F2CGVPE
I really appreciate that you keep your jigs simple! Thanks!

As always simple and strait to the project, you could have made a good school teacher
Not boring at all, thanks for sharing, I've got one of those saw and I'm going to make one of those sleds, cheers buddy

I simply LOVE metric measurements!
Welcome to the 21st century.

simply brilliant. I always wanted to know the best way to fit the guide or slides into the grooves on the table.
You’ll wish you built one age,s ago… table saw jig’s man’s second best friend..
Do keep the video’s coming.

Thanks, well explained, un-fussy jig. Have subscribed.
simple and efficient. Very good, thanks for share.

+Hooper57 yeah they're not the smoothest but a little wax on the runners seems to help
Yep, I like that. I just got my 745 yesterday made the zero clearance throat plate, I like that sled :o)
It is so simple and useful. 1 question why not drop the blade all the way down and use the fence with the square?
I could never get my jigs to slide freely like I wanted too and usually ended up trimming them to where I had too much play, using the card scraper!
Why didn't I think of that?
Thanks Keith
Surely when you cut your panel material it will drop as its not sitting on the saw table.........?
Nice work bro
Hi did you made some modification to your riving knife
Nice Video!!!

Wow, how are you at nearly 20k subs? I remember subscribing to you around 800 over a year ago(I think). GG Congrats Well Played Sir!
+Toggle I ask myself the same question! Thanks
@@RagnBoneBrown 135k now :) Well deserved. You are my favourite woodworker on youtube.
using plywood as the runner will stop it from jamming when the humidity level goes up.
Brilliant, thank you!

I'm considering this table for the basement of my apartment. is this table saw very noisy? I'm planning to do most of my work at night
+Gene .C it's pretty loud. You would be better off looking for something with an induction motor. Charnwood might be worth a look
Rag 'n' Bone Brown thanks mate.
Question: What is the reason to build a cross cut sled when you can just build this instead? It seems like this is more versatile.
- support on both sides, useful for smaller pieces
- no wobbling because there is support from below on both sides
- possibility to set up stop blocks
- zero clearance
- possibly more accuracy because of 2 runners in 2 slots
is what comes to my mind on a quick thought

Do you like your dewalt saw or would it be better getting the bigger dewalt?
+stshy check the tools page on my website
You mentioned 5 cut method. What is that ?
I thinking of buying the same table saw. what do you think of it.

Sorry, I know this video has been around for a good while, but can you tell me the dimensions of the panel cutter? Thank you.
drilling on the table saw table? That's a grudging! Good video tho!
Thumbs up!! 👍🏻

why is your fence in the opposite direction of the table when you make the cut. any particular reason.thanks
+BOBBY hi, sorry not sure I understand the question?

Isn't this going to fall off the back of the saw bed half way through a cut ???
Norm made one just like it, but not reclaimed materials

Sorry, pressed wrong button
How happy are you with the DeWalt DW745?
th-cam.com/video/ZBwar3TjTHw/w-d-xo.html
the jig will fall to the floor as you cut into your panel.
Funny I've been using it for years and that's never happened
why not just use the rip fence?
