    I think the guys at That Pedal Show talked about a product similar to this (If not the exact product). But I'm pretty sure their pro tip for installing was for the piece that goes on the pedal cut it into a triangle with the one point facing the edge. So it maintains its strength on the board, but when you take off pull from the end and it will come off easier. If that makes sense!

      @@ytfeelslikenorthkorea I had the same problem. If the pedal is always going to be attached to a board, you don't need the rubber. Peel it off and there won't be any problems.

    I’m gonna give the 3m dual lock a go. The problem with my current 3m Velcro is that the adhesive on the Velcro sticks to the pedal and comes away from the velcro.

      well if it's attached to the pedal and to the board there's more surface area so it's more difficult to separate. But yeah that was funny.

    this stuff definitely locks together well. but the problem I had when I used this stuff a few years ago, was that the sticky part that goes on the surface comes off. I'd put pedal on the board and it could easily be pulled off (or even sometimes just fell off) because it the hold was so strong that it just ripped off the board completely

    • @mr.yellowstrat3352
      @mr.yellowstrat3352 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah so sick of strong Velcro, loose adhesive products. It's so dumb. Why make a product that's stronger than the adhesive that holds it? When (if) they finally make an adhesive that stays long term even in hot humid environments, I'll be impressed

    My issue is not that Velcro isn’t strong enough, it’s the strength of the glue. My pedals are stored in an upright position when on the board in its flight case. Eventually they all fall off and move about. Is this tape any better at solving that problem?

    Actually the best way to mount your pedals is to take the pedals backplate off and place a Velcro strip like a long one not too long but long enough to where there they are sticking out the sides and then screw the backplate back in and what that does is it sandwiches the Velcro so it doesn't come off then just strap it to ur board
    I use a kobolt shelf from lowes it's nice

    When I tried using the Velcro on the back of my pedals and then try to pull the pedal off it stuck to the metallic sticker on the back of the pedal and it separated from the pedal and it stuck to the board. It had pulled off the back of the pedal. Do I need to pull off the rubber backing on the pedals first? I have Donner's mini-pedals.

    This is 3m Dual Lock. It’s not “industrial strength Velcro”. Velcro is a brand. The “Velcro” spoken of here is Velcro brand hook and loop. However I definitely agree that dual lock is the only way to go...

  • @thehandseesall
    @thehandseesall 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've used this stuff before on my pedal board and I can honestly say it's an absolute nightmare to get your pedals off the pedal board again once they're on. I would not recommend this product just go with something like heavy-duty velcro. maybe it would be slightly different for you because your pedalboard has a gap to help you push the back of the pedal but I was using a flat pedal board at the time.

    • @addictedtogear
      @addictedtogear  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's pretty easy once you know how to do it. Regular Velcro doesn't hold very well at all. The trick is to pull the pedal up and at an angle. If you try pulling up straight it won't come off. Start by lifting up one edge of the pedal in the corner and then twist at an angle. Comes off pretty easy!

    Hey. I am planning to build my pedalboard and this video really gave me a nice tip on the road to perfection. What I would like to share with you is some MOOER INTERPLUGS. Instead of using patch cables, those are like patch cables, but there is not cable, there are just two heads so that you can connect the pedals very close and save space. Do you know them? Please check them out and share your opinion with me. For other patch cable that require some distance, I plan to buy Mogami bulk cable and some Switchcraft Pancake plugs. How about that?

    • @addictedtogear
      @addictedtogear  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not recommend these for many reasons.

    • @carlosmora1753
      @carlosmora1753 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you name some?

    • @addictedtogear
      @addictedtogear  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      First not all pedals have inputs that are aligned with other types of pedals which makes fine tuning the layout of a pedalboard a bit. Some pedal have inputs in the top of the pedal so they won't work. The fact that the jacks on these units have no give means that all the stress is on the pedal connectors and that is a recipe for disaster. Finally if you have any pedals on a board unsung the connectors and your pedals are attached to the board. You can't pull one pedal off without undoing a few which is a real pain.
