LIVE STREAM!!! How To Attach Pedals with Rubber Feet To Your Pedalboard
DON'T TAKE THOSE RUBBER FEET OFF YOUR PEDALS! You can just as easily leave them on and STILL attach them to your pedalboard. In this live stream, I'll show you a simple work around and pedal board building tip to do this.
Materials needed:
Pedal with Rubber Feet
Rubbing Alcohol (for cleaning)
Cotton Balls (for cleaning)
3M Dual Lock fastener (aka Scotch Extremely Strong)
Scissors/Kitchen Shears/XActo Knife
Heat Gun

Several of your ideas were really good. The heat gun (I used a hair dryer but whatever) got 10+ year old Velcro to stick. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. I was not liking the idea of taking the rubber feet off my pedals for my first pedalboard build and this solves the issue. I too want to keep them clean in case I ever sell.

Great video, thanks. I was really struggling to get my RAT pedal on as it not only has large feet, which can be unscrewed (screws need to go back in as these hold the case together) it also has a large screw to hold the battery cover on! This sticks out about 6mm when the feet are off and it's a real pain. This technique you showed is great! I used a hairdryer to soften the glue which worked a treat.

Great advice. Which type of 3M Dual Lock work best with the loop Velcro?
There are 170, 250, or 400 stems per inch types.

Hey Evan, Thanks for the comment.
So...I'm not 100% on the number of stems. I just buy the biggest pack available at Home Depot whenever I need it. I have used the loop Velcro from the Industrial style of velcro. So whatever those two are is what I've used together in recent past. But I've gone exclusively to Dual Lock on recent boards.
Haven't tried this, but couldn't you just attach a piece of acrylic or something that fits between the feet to the board and then Velcro per usual?
I’m sure you could but you’d need the capabilities to cut the acrylic and also find pieces of appropriate thickness.
I'm looking for replacement rubber bumpons for a TC electronics. I bought a used Flashback and the previous owner put a giant piece of velcro on the back. It ripped off the silver stickers and it's missing one of the little rubber feet. Pedal works fine... I'm just being picky.
Hardware store my friend! You'd be surprised how much stuff you can find for pedals and/or your board there. Just ask someone who works there where you can find rubber feet or bumpons and they should have various sizes for you to choose from.

I got an RC300 to mount, its huge with 4 legs on the corner, so hopefully one of these strategies work or I'll have to scrape the rubber off of them xD

I’ve typically used the heavy duty velcro, and haven’t thought I needed more holding power. Does the dual lock make that big of a difference? How easy is it to pull the pedals off when you need to switch something around?
If you want something to STAY PUT...and I mean like REALLY stay...Dual Lock is the answer. Doesn't shift, shimmy, or move. Having said that, it can be a NIGHTMARE to remove a pedal locked down for an extended period of time.
I like to do with a combo of Industrial Strength Velcro and Dual Lock...Dual Lock on the pedals and the Loop Velcro on the board. The Dual Lock holds well to the Loop but can be more easily removed if need be.
HOWEVER, I really like Industrial Strength Velcro as a good all-around pedal fastener. Holds well but can be easily removed.

Would It work with the Dual Lock attached to the pedalboard and the Industrial Strength Velcro to the pedals. I purchased a used pedal that had Dual Lock on it and I didn't realize it until I sat it on my sofa and snagged the h*** out of it. 🙄
I’ve found that Dual Lock pairs best with the Loop half of Loop & Hook style Velcro. That’d be the more “carpet” like side.

God this is smart! Now I could put my sp comp on my board without removing its rubber feet.
Hey man! Thanks a bunch. But I'm pretty sure you can easily remove the rubber feet on the SP Comp. Those should just be adhesive-backed so a little rubbing alcohol or heat should make those easy to remove.
This is more for pedals like Crybaby, Rotovibe, Way Huge that have the screw-on rubber feet.
But you can also use this same idea to create some lift for you pedals.

Take the rubber feet off and put them in a box. If you ever need them, put them back on.
It's not that simple. With a Cry Baby, for example, if you unscrew the rubber feet, take them off and try to screw the backplate again the screws don't go all the way in, they stick out and the backplate is loose. You need to cut the screws(!) or find the same screws but shorter (even more difficult!!!). What he shows is the easiest way.
George Kollaros fold paper and use it where the rubber would go, not as big as the rubber, but it does the job
@@george.kollaros it's not that hard to find screws. Any hardware store, amazon, Lowe's, Napa auto part's... All those places also have things to tell you what size and thread pitch your screw is...

@@SeanPierceJohnson I set up the YT playing speed to maximum 1.75. Luckily for the French I am, you speak laid back and I was still able to understand you. I have this anti-sliding material (used for light router bit works, but in fact the one for supporting drying dishes is fearly the same) and I will use that, because it fits my 3 miserable guitar effects pedals in a more simple way. Thanks for sharing anyway. ANd being a decent locutor. Some peoples on YT apparently think the world stops to USA limits and they don't bother to speak clearly. Not your case. Nice.

Too expensive, that stuff ain’t cheap
Roy Durr if you shop around you can find a decent price. But you’re not meant to use Dual Lock in large quantities for boards. It’s worth it if you need it.
