I LOVE organization. I can’t function without it. Many thanks to Betty & Lisa for their great ideas. I have my squares and rectangles cut. I’m making the pieced blocks, and I have yet to start them. Got involved in quite a few quilt alongs and then life happened. Can anyone else relate? 😌 But I’m looking so forward to making this quilt. Thanks, Becky, for your great videos ❣

I finally understood the border layout, I had to watch this video 3 times, wow but please thank Betty for her border layout, I finally got it. Thanks for this video Becky.

I am grabbing my paper plates as I watch your demo! I will use this method with my ombré quilt! It was a daunting task to keep the shading in order! Now I can see the shades in the right order! Thanks again for your fabulous rides!

BRILLIANT! Staple or tape a tiny snip of the fabric shade to hang off the front so you know what is where. 🙂

Becky. I love watching your videos. I am not a quitter but I’m fascinated with the results. I am a paper crafter and I often use different ideas you use for quilting. The paper plate idea is great! I do sew and have several of your seam reapers. They are the best!

You can use Frixion pen on your paper plates also. When done iron it off for its ready for your next quilt cuts

Such a cute quilt. You'll probably feel you've run a marathon ( or 2) when you finish - what a lot of work has gone into it. Great tip with the paper plate.

This is video was awesome! You are an amazing teacher. You were so easy to follow & had wonderful tips! Thank you so much for the sewing, cutting, & organizing tips. I plan to make this quilt but I was overwhelmed by the cutting instructions. I recently found your Channel & learning so much. Plan to watch back videos to see how you do the chickens!! 🥰❤️

Thank you Becky for all the videos and tips on making the chicken salad quilt. I am slowly working on mine. I also want to thank Betty for the border layout guide. Thank you also for letting Becky share it for those of us that need the direction to lay it out.🙂🙂

This has been a very difficult part of the quilt! Lori Holt has no problem putting directional upside down or sideways ( I asked her on one of her videos). I just can’t sew that way!

Thank you and Betty and Lisa! I am like you and get stressed trying to match up the border pieces. I've loved all the Lori Holt sew alongs but I think she dropped the ball on Chicken Salad. She should have given a clear layout for borders! I had such eye strain squinting at the finished quilt printout for border fabric layout I put the project aside. I've never gone on your blog but will look for it now. I need that numbered diagram!! Thank you!!!!

Great organizing and sewing. I get so frustrated when I’m sewing. Paper plates and post it notes, no high cost gadget. I’ve found so many sewing and quilting tools in Home Depot and harbor freight. Great prices!!! Also my husband makes me hoop stands and other things. I just show him the picture.

Advanced Embroidery Placement 301 (college level!). Lay all the parts out on the main fabric where they need to go so they are centered on the 12.5" square. It might help to draw the cut margins on the background fabrics with Frixion markers. Draw around all the individual parts with heat erasable markers or make hash marks to identify the top/bottom/left/right of each piece. Number the spaced outlines on the fabric so you know what goes down first. Center each marked outline space in a hooping. For example, your first hooping might have a back wing, a comb, beak, feet and a full chick, if you can fit them all in there. The 2nd hooping will have the body, waddle, eyes, and front wing. The 3rd hooping will have the tail. You might have to sew down using a sewing machine those birds that have very wide bodies like Penny, Henrietta, or Edna.

That one that is $699 is a refurbished machine. Not sure how it got there. I will remove it. Thanks for the heads up. Not that it's a bad machine, but someone bought it and returned it. It still has a 90 day warranty from Amazon.
