Been using Google Maps for years, 20+ in fact. The only time it screws me up is if I have to take a detour or I decide to change my route without checking it in advance. I always do Street View around my customer locations and other roads I am not sure of. Seeing a no truck sign or low clearance via Street View has saved me many times. Something I didn't think about though, last week AT&T went dark for half a day. I was blinded with no Google Maps. I do multiple pickups around the Chicago area and many of my customers are new to me since I just took over this route. I had no choice but to buy a trucker's GPS. I HATE IT! It's as bad and hokey as it was 20 years ago! If Google came out with a trucker only version that was as user friendly as their standard version, I'd gladly pay $500 for it instead of this $500 crap Garmin I have now.
I use both. Truckers path is better overall. Garmin is better at getting you to the truck entrance. Garmin is also easier to see upcoming turns. They both mess up in cities. I write down key directions before I enter or exit large cities.

Hey Vista, I primarily use Hammer and it's good when it works. Honestly I'm in my 7th month of trucking solo OTR at 55 years old and chose Hammer over Trucker-Path due to the learning curve while running but I'm here looking into it for a better solution. Major issue: Twice it has taken me out of my set pre-planed route. The first was on I-80 Wyoming heading west before Little America. It showed the interstate as being closed during the construction phase and sent me on a blind no return exit where I had to drive on the north side through the middle of nowhere on a old, old, old highway that was rotted out with specks of jagged asphalt, mostly dirt ruts. It reminded me of going to the range on base not knowing if it was a dead-end or had a culvert before rejoining a connecting road. Needless to say I could see all the other drivers rolling down the interstate no problems, yeah I was pist and running out of drive hours. The second time was on highway 20 coming out of Texas when it did the same thing for no apparent reason. Took me on a back country business loop for 22 miles of winding road. Not how I planned to use my drive hours even though the country was beautiful and local residents being mostly truckers themselves, nice. So twice in a three month period it indicated the interstate or highway as being under construction when in fact it wasn't, sending me into locations that put the safety of my vehicle in jeopardy of mechanical damage. Not sure if anyone else has had issue but these are my personal experiences. Best wishes, be safe. A.

I'm Glad your GPS did not stop doing updates and still works. Was not the case for ours. Lastly it is safe to park on ramps when done correctly. We pull doubles. It is not safe for us to go-to many truck stops and rest areas because drivers illegally park, crowding the lot and we are unable to get out. Double trailers can't legally back up. When lots are full we must break our set to get out. This increases danger dramatically! Yes we have had to do that. Soooo we will keep safely parking on ramps. I’ve been using trucker’s path for a year now and have had absolutely no problem with it. There are a few times where I know of a personally shorter route but said route simply doesn’t exist to it (and these are shortcuts that have saved me hours), so idk if it’s always like that, but it’s extremely reliable truck route wise so long as you pay for the truck route option. We make our videos from our own life experiences
I use smart truck nav 2 on Android
What about hammer
Trucker path is a Chinese owned App that is helping to pave the way for autonomous trucks. The very app many truckers rely on will ultimately have a large role in our future unemployment.
Lol
source?
gotta love the conspiracy theorist
yep i was right this is paid advertisement for trucker path, i use the garmin otr dezl 700 which is best for routing but I only use trucker path to find smaller truck stops
Thank you
It's pretty good!
The only useful thing of Trucker path is to use it to look for fuel station and rest area location. It’s truck route is totally wrong and misleading
That is all we typically us it for as well. We have pre-planned routes.
I keeps me updated on live traffic conditions, and the community always keeps things like parking availability at truck stops updated, alongside reviews on shippers and receivers.
there is no free version ☹️, wrong information
This video is 3 years old.... times and companies change!
I’m using it for free?? What do you mean by not free?
@@tyguy070 Yeah you're using the useless car version.
@@DavidSmith-ev1bd ah, I see what you mean. yes gps wise is car version if i'm trying to use it for point a to b for the free version. but you can still track and find parking, scales and fuel stations along the route with up to date parking and fuel prices.
Good video guys
Thank you!
What about hammer gps
We don't have experience with that exact GPS unfortunately
What's hammer GPS it's an app or unit
hammer got me lost a few times crap to me
I used hammer when my garmin was down it took me longer route.
Hammer is a cheap hillbilly app.
Trucker Path will not do navigation on a wifi only device.
get a ipad mini or second phone.
Yes it will
I have truckerpath on mines?
@@mrwright9553 On a wifi only ipad mini, when you go to navigation it puts up a page saying device is not compatible.
Thanks for this feedback. I will call my contact at trucker path amd get a direct answer for you guys
@@shabadabadoo4326 The Wifi Only ipad mini's don't have a gps chip in them for the location services. You'll have to get a bluetooth gps unit like a Garmin GLO.
The ignorance in this comment section is amusing
It really is! Scott say you can't fix stupid.... those same people that are worried about china probably use tictoc lol
@@SimpleLivin garmins are made in several locations one of which being... I'll let you guess lol. I've used trucker path for quite some time now and I can honestly say it only gets better with time. It's improved so much since renren bought it.
I find most people are small thinkers! lol so glad you enjoy the app and find that over time it just keeps getting better
@SimpleLivin dont forget their sheep
Agree and the flock just keep getting bigger
Hahaha, I wonder if Garman, Rand McNally, and all the other companies make their employees come on to theses sites and spread misinformation?
I'm definitely not an employee of any company that provides any other these navigation services nor have I gotten paid by them. All options have their good and bad! It's why we suggest not just using one! At the end of the day you are the driver and are responsible for your truck and route! When we be came drivers we used a map book and learned proper trip planning.
Wishing you the best and many blessings
@@SimpleLivin wtf..I never said you were getting paid! I said the people commenting on here were probably employees. Settle down young lady.
Sorry if I came across harsh. This video has received alot of heat and all oflver the place comments. Just try to make content that helps drivers.
@@SimpleLivin No problem, I understand. Thanks for helping! We definitely need all the help we can get nowadays. There's so many scams out here. I really like the gps app, it's the best I've ever seen, it's like Google maps on steroids and made for truckers. I contacted them about the Chicago to South Boston, Virginia route and they assured me they would fix it. I'm going to give them a few more days and see. If they did fix it I'm going to resubsribe.
@@Mars-77Have they fixed it?
I have trucker path I don't like it I don't really like it I have bad serious using it blogs trucker path using it as a GPS is going to use your data and your phone battery
Loves > ta
Sure 10% it’s way cheaper to go direct Lier u don’t get no discount u pay 10% more over the price
No mention of an atlas
It's not 1960. The GPS is vastly superior and works offline so no excuse. Atlas doesn't update with new construction or show you parking and truck stops. Also won't route you around low clearance. About time to get with the times.
Truckers can be mean
They sure can lol Anyone dealing with people on the road 10 hrs a day for years would go insane.
Still not an excuse tho but i get it 😅
No CCP products for me
Hi good day
Just I want to now how is working , I’m new truck driver and I have looking for GPS
so it's a paid ad for TP, and not an unbiased review.
I have never received money from truckerpath. I also can't be bought!
Spam video ..gotta make a dollar more…apparently trucking alone not paying the bills….
How is it a spam?
@SimpleLivin there's babies everywhere that're having a bad day, pay no mind cause there's no mind to pay lol
These 2 are overthinking this whole thing.
