    Cool to see you covering this software. For anyone wanting to know more about it and ask for help be sure to check on the Launchbox forums or the public Launchbox Discord channel, we always got a bunch of helpful people willing to help out getting people set up and running. There is also the Launchbox TH-cam channel with tons of tutorial videos.

    I've been using Launch Box now for about six months and not only do I recommend it but the team at Launch Box is constantly working to make a good emulator front end even better. I appreciate that they are very responsive to their user's suggestions and needs and they are rapidly moving up in popularity because of it.

    I discovered Launch box a couple months ago and I am loving it. It is so convenient having all my ROMS all in one place. Its easy to use since I'm using the free version and with Retroarch, it's even better. Would highly recommend.

    I have been using Launchbox for sometime and love it as well. What you can also do is setup an account with enumovies which adds additional media for the games and platforms such as videos, fan art etc. Def recommend it.

      What why? RetroPi is just a distribution of RetroArch, you can get the latter straight for your Windows PC, no need for a Pi. Of course it's not the smoothest software out there, sexy, but rough around the edges.

  • @mtshark7
    @mtshark7 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome video Shawn! It would be nice if the emulators were all built in already.

  • @darktetsuya
    @darktetsuya 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just downloaded this the other day! yeah it's pretty sweet just having all your available ROMs right at your fingertips any game in your collection just a click (or two) away! (although I haven't used it as much lately because I've been sucked into Breath of the Wild on Wii U but when that's all over I'll probably be right back to it!)

  • @maxsmith6019
    @maxsmith6019 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    So is the only point of this software the nice interface? I mean it is really nice I'm just not sure what the point of this is other than a nice organizer which again isn't a bad thing I'm just making sure I'm not missing anything. Do you have to map inputs through launch box or the emulators themselves?

  • @RaiMan182

    Good on you for showing the 32X some love, RGT. I love the 32X and Sega CD both.
    I have been weary of putting a single access point to my emulators on my PC. It is under-powered and am concerned with it using more resources than just the emulator alone. Any info on it would be appreciated.

    • @RGT85
      @RGT85  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Nick West it didn't seem to use that much cpu at all. And you can always make it so it doesn't show pics.

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally, you should be okay even on under-powered machines. We recently just put up a video of everything running on the GPD Win, which is extremely underpowered and can still run everything very well.

    • @nickwest932
      @nickwest932 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LaunchBox
      Thanks to the both of you. I will give it a shot.

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      GPD Win is an eerily fast device for a handheld. I mean my tablet from just a couple years ago certainly can't run UE3 games from the Xbox 360 era at the same performance as a big decade old console, but GPD Win just about manages to.

    looks like pretty good software, and you should consider pairing it with RetroArch, that's the best emulator software imo.

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi phoenix, yeah, Retroarch is great, and we recommend it for a ton of platforms. We support pretty much all emulators though. :)

  • @nationharris

    whilst a little limited, a soft nodded wii is my personal preference. cheap, easily modable and quite robust.

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is another great solution, Nation! I have one myself; LaunchBox will get you a lot more customization, filtering, and presentation options, but yes, that is a great a solution if you have a Wii that you don't mind frankensteining.

    • @nationharris
      @nationharris 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LaunchBox Wow, i appreciate the reply! the Wii does 8/16 bit really well but anything more and it does struggle. i might have to look into launch box for the 4th gen stuff and arcade too.

    • @LordMonkus
      @LordMonkus 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Launchbox as the name says is just a launcher, it's middleware between the emulator and rom that neatly organizes and starts up the games for each system. So as long as what you are wanting to launch supports the command line (which 99% of things do) it will work.

    Maybe someday I will use it. Currently I use my original Xbox to emulate things from the Atari to the PS1 and for the arcade games.

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a great way to do it, RetroGamer. These days you can emulate a lot more than that now though. :)

    This might be the easies frontend yet
    Learning rocket launcher then figure it out with hyperspin is a bitch
    With launchbox you pretty much only need to add rom folder and emulator folder ready to go

    I've been using emulators since the 90s but have never enjoyed these one-stop emulator solutions. I tend to play my console and arcade emulators on my WiiU, home micro emulators on my laptop and just about anything I can on my GPD XD handheld.

    The review is good and all but you missed something the program. You missed out on it being able to be ran portable off a usb drive like external hdd or thumb drive. I may ask for a license from them to do a review and include that in my review. I may not do that who knows.

    I want to buy a premade hard drive full of games using launchbox. Anyone knows who sells them?

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don't sell them and highly discourage people from doing that. NO ONE should be making money off of these games other than the original developers and publishers.

    • @alexkidd6995
      @alexkidd6995 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand, but making a complete collection can be a pain in the ass even with LaunchBox being so easy to configure compared to Hyperspin. And about developers and publishers... we all download ROMS from the Internet

    Yes, you can preserve games, and yes, you can play games that are expensive or impossible to get, but that doesn't justify people who emulate recent games like Breath of the Wild. The game is not old by any means, and if you can afford a PC than can run the game you may afford a second hand Wii U as well. Emulation is good, but as always the problem comes when people use it the wrong way.

    • @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC
      @UnbrokenSoftwareLLC 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No kidding Necro, much agreed. We try and encourage people to buy their games as much as we can (I'm a game collector myself). Honestly emulating BOTW grinds my gears too.
