I got my snes emulator working well. but not my neo geo and turbo graphics16 . for some reason when I click to play the game the emulator starts but then I have to manually load the game. this only happens on those consoles my nes and md emulators work like a charm. I hope you do a video on pc engine and neo geo. or give me some advise. I'm really considering getting the upgrade to the big box but I would like to get these emulators working first. . btw keep up the good work. looking forward to seeing more of your videos here.
I find that using the snes9x cores in RetroArch is more shader friendly then the bsnes cores. Some shaders/setting don't do anything in bsnes where as snes9x is easier to manipulate.
I agree with you on scanlines. They don't look right yet. I find super eagle and brz6x good options to hq4x. I like the sharpness of adding filters personally.

After my test i think that Snes9x is the best, better then bsnes in Retroarch I think! Snes9x has really good filters, i'm not able to find a so good filters i Retroarch Bsnes... You bring up the up left and such. You should just do it cause some games, such as Brain Lord I found out, won't let you go diagonal without putting those in. This has only been tested on my wired box 360 controller. It may not effect other games of course.
For anyone still watching and using Snes9x version 1.60: If your rom files are zipped you should actually uncheck the option for "Extract ROM archives before running" I was getting a checksum error while that was checked.
I've seen a bunch of posts about snes9x never launching. The fix for me was removing the -fullscreen flag from LaunchBox and setting it directly in snes9x . My guess is that newer versions just aren't compatible.

Hi ETA Prime, I'm having a hard time with connecting my VEWLIX Taito Hori sticks to Launchbox using the SNES9x app. Do you have any tips on how to connect this, so I can begin my journey of bringing some of the retro arcade experience to my home?
Great vid - however when using a wired Xbox 360 controller I find that setting the UpLeft/UpRight/DownLeft/DownRight is a requirement. For example, if you play the SNES port of Doom you can't move/arc 'forward and left' at the same time without it, and instead you have to move forward, then turn left, then move forward etc. which is way clunkier.
So I've done everything in this tutorial, but my games don't ever populate. Says I have no games, but the import wizard lists them all in the final step.

Yes the same principle apply to many emulators and Launchbox can handle pretty much anything unless it is extremely crazy in the way it handles things.
No problem, check out over on the forums if you run into any issues at all. Most of us over there have figured how to get just about everything you can think of working.
why would you go with a modern controller, when you can get great snes usb controllers, to give you that same feel of the experience you used to get from playing the old system?
Is it possible to delete a game rom from the rom folder from within Launchbox? As in, you click something and it automatically deletes the rom, and if possible, also all artwork associated with it? And maybe even clones? This would be good to audit my collection.
what would be a recomended hard drive you said you had a big one is 2tb acceptable for almost all the old games and some mame games i just need a ballpark figure like if its as big as your setup im fine or if you know where the art folder is that would be even more helpful thnx
So, I just added a whole SNES library before watching this video. I did not add the -fullscreen option before adding the roms. Is there a way to edit all the games I just added to put that -fullscreen in there, or do I have to edit each one individually, or do I have to remove them all from my library and add them again with the proper -fullscreen option?
Nevermind, figured it out. Not intuitive at all, but I figured it out. I tried editing all the games at once, but the batch edit didn't have the option. I edited one game, and that apparently changed the default for all games using that emulator. Then, I found the option to change settings per emulator... I think the interface needs a bit of a cleanup, and certain options that should obviously be enabled, or checked or whatever, should be already setup as default.

According to Emulation-General wiki (Higan) bsnes is more accurate than SNES9x. I would like to know which one is better to emulate the console 1:1. I'm using libretro cores in RetroArch Windows. If you could answer it would be great.
I'm only finding weird [!].smc game files. I did have an error on testing installation, and not sure if that is why. Looking for .sfc files like you, and found .srm. Happy thanksgiving!
I use "save game position" on snes9x to save states. However, when I go to "load game position", it doesn't tell me which slots have save states or the time I saved them. Is there a way to fix this?
If a stand-alone emulator does not have a way to escape out of it, LaunchBox has built in AHK functionality that can help with that. I would head over to community forums where it can be explained in much greater details than on a YT comment. forums.launchbox-app.com/
HI I followed everything you did but I keep getting an error that says the program can't start because d3dx9_42.dll is missing from your computer try reinstalling the program to fix this problem I have tried over a few times and keep getting the same error have you seen this before and if so any way to fix this ?

I didn't like the A, B, X, Y layout. For kirby at least, B was jump, Y was suck/attack. Changed all buttons around and feels so much more natural.

Bsnes is similar, uses timestamps to indicate saves. I find that important too.

Snes9x is much easier for people new to emulation to setup and use but in terms of actual emulation there is no advantage.
