    My wife just gave me this for my birthday. Honestly one of the prettiest watches i have ever handled :o
    Crazy dial and details. That deep blue with the sexy rose gold accents : pure class. Very good finishing, it looks even beter in real life. Truly useful complication. No qc issues on mine.

    A great review, thank you. At first look it's the dial texture that hit's you hard squarely between the eyes. It looks great. The colourway is well executed as well with the bezel colour. The 28800 VPH is also a nice feature for a Seiko mechanical watch. All is not quite perfect though in my humble opinion. I think it would be better if the GMT hand were shorter with discreet hour numbers on the inside of the hour markers. That way you could track an additional time zone if the bezel rotated. That would be better for those of us in multinational companies who work with different departments in different time zones (I do). But I guess the rotating bezel would add cost. I'm a big fan of the jumping hour, my old Omega Globemaster has this so the hour can be adjusted without stopping the seconds, it also allows the date to move forward or backwards on my watch so it's no big deal for me to give the hour hand a few tours of the dial if the watch has been stopped for a while. I do like the chamfer of the inside of the bracelet though to aid comfort, I nice thought Seiko. Keep up the great reviews!

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I like the non-traveler style as I don't travel enough maybe 1 time every 2 years. This one does jump the day backwards as well I forgot to mention with the jumping hour just like the pepsi gmt II.

    • @anthonystevens8683
      @anthonystevens8683 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EscapementWatch I don't travel much either but I have many calls with India and the US (I'm in the UK) so having 3 zones is useful. The non jumping hours can be useful when certain cities are not offset by a full hour but I'm really nit picking here. I guess that's what smartphones do better these days or those of us old enough to add or subtract in base 12 😊

    Good video, beautiful watch! A little bit expensive but not really, we need to understand that seiko has layers of quality too. If I were in the market for a GMT one to consider. I actually own an older Rolex GMT but it is not all that to me, I prefer my Argonaut Tudor for function as a GMT. If you are in the market look at this seiko or the GS GMT.

    I'm kind of surprised it's taken Seiko this long to make this kind of watch using the 6R64, which is a few years old now. Prior to this it was in some absolutely humongous Landmasters that no one even noticed. A "flyer" GMT in this price range is *huge* because the ETA clone companies like Sellita have no answer for it. ETA themselves do, but so far Swatch has kept their inexpensive flyer GMT in a select few, IMO not all that attractive Tissot, Mido, and Certina models, and it's also a Powermatic 80 derivative and thus 3Hz, not like the 4Hz here. Ball however have just released a very interesting new true GMT using a heavily modified ETA I believe (not sure exactly what the RR1205-C is actually based on).
    As for the original GMT-Master not being a true GMT - it evolved into one. The original Submariners had bi-directional friction timing bezels that would be considered dangerous and not at all suited to a "proper" dive watch these days. The uni-directional ratcheting timing bezel was an evolution that came later. For those that need a GMT watch, I do think the jump hour is more useful, even if it does make setting the date slower and more annoying. The other side of that is being able to jump the local hour forwards or backwards without having to stop the movement, and in the case of the GMT-Master II it will actually roll its date backwards as well. Not sure if the 6R64 can do that?

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it is kinda surprising. Maybe they don't see GMT's as great sellers? I know personally I do not own one and no real desire for one. But if I did have one I'd go with a original gmt type not traveling type, as I travel usually 1 time every 1-2 years. And yes the date does jump backwards on this 6R just like the PEPSI GMTII I reviewed with the jumping hours.

  • @DavekayBSC
    @DavekayBSC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Another note: yes the 6R35 *can* run at this beat rate, but we've known that for a long time, the 6R20/21 have been around for ten years or more, running at 4Hz in various JDM models. The cost is power reserve, which is about 48hrs in those movements, and 45hrs here. Seiko seems to think that having longer power reserve at 3Hz is more important in the 3-hand 6R movements for....some reason. I think if Seiko were planning to do a 4Hz rival to the Miyota 9015, they would've done it by now.

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh yes it slipped my mind...because I hardly see them! I remember the Arita porcelain I had on channel long ago with the 6R27 28,800 and that too was 45hrs. Hoping for a diver no date 28.8 no power res for future models.

    • @DavekayBSC
      @DavekayBSC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EscapementWatch That seems *incredibly* unlikely given Seiko's usual MO. They have the no-date open-heart movement, but that's a basic 4R derivative, and Seiko *rarely* does no-date watches that aren't open-hearts. (Though the new Seiko x TicTac SZSB025/26 field watches are both no-dates.) The 6L35 is finally starting to trickle its way into more watches than just the TOTL Presage models and the KS reissue, but that's got a date, and I can't see them going to the trouble of making a no-date variant, especially given how niche no-date watches generally are.

    Just got the green one. I’ve been struggling to find a reasonably priced true GMT that I liked. This watch is a little too big. I wish it had a two-colored ceramic bezel. The bracelet was difficult to fit my wrist and lacks micro adjustments. The date dial is strange. These are minor complaints, it blows away anything I’ve seen so far and I really like it.
