who would have known that in about a decade all the "old and familiar prayers f the Church" would have violently been taken away from the lips and hearts of the faithful. May God restore what once was.
The Carmelite Rite is alive and well in a Carmel in the United States. I'm strongly considering the idea of discerning a vocation with the monks there. Google carmelite monks and you'll find the website for them.
16 th July Anno Domini 1251 , Blessed Mary EVER a Virgin gave Brown Scapular to St. Simon Stock as a Sign of Protection and of Salvation: "Who shall die clothed in this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire".
right, i was referring in general how these rituals whether traditional carmelite or tridentine rites by and large are gone, save for the few blessed outposts like the carmelites in wyoming (that's where they're at, right?) i seriously wish you all the best in your vocation, i thought i myself was destined to the religious life, but my life played out differently and it wasnt meant to be (im rather bitter over it). anyways stick with it and remember - whatever happens, keep the Faith!!
This is a lovely setting of "Now that the day star" ... does anyone know which setting this is? I can find a few settings of the text, but not this one, which is so lovely.

absolutely depressing that its all gone, what a cultural loss!
at 8:51 you see a priest with much hair on his head. didn't all carmelites before vatican2 have a tonsure?
