- A detailed video of how to make a #moneylei for #graduationgifts! This is a variation of a money lei that I've been making for over the past 10 years. It does take some time but it comes out very full and you can add a twist to the color beads based on the school colors!
This video is of a standard size lei, but you can make it even longer by either adding more dollar bill$ or adding more filler beads in between!

CP... my wife and I love, love, LOVE you !!! Our son is graduating from San Diego State University (May of 2023), and YOU helped make this Money-Lei project a fun and easy one. We used black ribbon and red beads for our color scheme... very cool !!! Mahalo Nui Loa for an awesome video... 🥰😍👨🏽🎓
THANK YOU!!!!!1❤❤
Thank you so much. I'm going to make this for my son's high school graduation. Thx for including the estimate dollar amount. I'm going to an atm that gives back dollar bills
Hahaha you can always make a longer lei with more bills! another work around which i've done is just add two beads in between too. But glad this video helped (: Congrats to your son!
Hi! Thank you for the tutorial! This was really helpful! Question: do you recommend using tape vs. glue dots?
Awesome tutorial!
Thank you so much!
Mahalo for the easy tutorial sis!
It's my pleasure! and thanks for the reminder, its grad season again!
thank you🎉
Hi does the tape tear off the bills easily? Is this meant for the graduate to undo the bills to cash in or do people just keep it assembled? I’m planning on making one this week thanks for the instructions!
This is EXACTLY what I need!! Thank you!!
Yay !
I fashoo finna make this for my graduation frfr
Or have someone make it for you!
Thank you!!!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hope yours turned out great!
Thank you 😍
(:
Thank you for this video! I just made one for my brother’s graduation next week!
Wooo! Hope it turned out beautiful! Congrats to your brother!
Hello! What size bead do you recommend 4 or 6mm? Thank you!
Definitely doing this! I love it, thanks for sharing
It will turn out lovely!
Oh not sure if i missed it but how long should the ribbons be in inches?? Maybe i missed that part idk 🤷♀️
Thank u
How much would you suggest doing for a child size my son's graduating preschool and I think 50 would be to long for him
Do you string both ends of the ribbon through the hole of the bead?
ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ᴜ💓
Hi thank you for your tutorial! Great directions ! Easy to follow. Question, how long do the money leis last for example how many days in advance can I make one ? Wondering if the dollars will unfold
if they are crisp bill they will last for a VERY long time, ie years lol
Easy money lei
How long did it take you to fold the bills
How long does it take to make?
Thank you!! You made it so easy. Have you ever tried using double sided tape or do you think it will rip when you are trying to take it off?
I haven't tried double sided tape but those are pretty strong, the rolled tape is easier to remove.
Roughly how long did the entire process take to make
i didnt realize that leis were more of a west coast thing. I always thought it was a graduation thing for all states but when i moved to texas, absolutely nobody does it
Probably the close hawaiian influence would make sense. What do they do in texas?
I live in Texas...and we so do this. I am preparing for next year.
You tube is were I learned how to do a homecoming mum as well.
Happy graduations to all
Ohio either🥺
Is the first bead put onto both pieces of ribbon or one? What about every bead thereafter?
Just one for the first then both for the rest
Is it hard to take off tape afterwards? Or is it left on the dollar bill? Tia
I would leave it on the bill so it doesnt rip lol
Can you tell me what size beads you are using?
These are just standard kandi beads like 6x9,mm www.amazon.com/1000-Acrylic-Color-Beads-6x9mm/dp/B09Z7NYVG9/ref=asc_df_B09Z7NYVG9/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=598244533119&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8622503599226058187&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032283&hvtargid=pla-1662514590950&psc=1
Is the ribbon u used the same ribbon to wrap presents??
Yes it is!
These are beautiful but also seems like a nightmare for the person who gets one to get all the tape off and unfold them.
dont use tape...use clear tiny hair ties to hold.. very nice leis... pretty cool
Can you explain how to assemble with the rubber bands?
How long did it take you?
About 1.5 hours. The folding of the dollars take a long time
Can I use a double sided tape ??
Yes that would be more efficient
We need close ups Lol
how many piece?
Sorry I thought I responded, hope im not too late. about 50.
how many piece of dollars?
I did 50 for the one in the photo
