How much destruction could a giant bird do? As someone who had a house-mate with a parrot I guess a hell of a lot. One parrot was about equal to a three year old kid with a big pair of pliers.

Well as an electrical engineer I have to say that obviously we can fly helicopters or predict flight patterns of unknown creatures. After all, this is all just electrical engineering. Kinda the only thing not involving electrical engineering is that antimatter shield.
BTW that quality is actually not unusual for movies from that time, after all since it's monochrome it fetches high prices on the licensing market. For example it recently got shown on German TV, probably fetching hundreds of Euros in licensing fees.

I have loved this movie ever since I saw it back in the mid 90's when it showed back on the TNT block night called Monster Vision. It has always stuck with me. Jeff Morrow always acts wonderful in whatever he is in. I know the old story about him not knowing what the monster looked like and saw it first hand when he went to a showing of the movie in a small town. And that everyone in the audience was laughing at it when it finally showed up, (causing Jeff to leave the theater secretly before anyone saw him). But I don't think it is that bad of a monster. For a puppet, it has a lot of facial movement. It's just the whole design looked odd to begin with.
And honestly...if you think about it. This thing could kill Godzilla and any other kaiju. If he kept his shield up....and didn't t drop it to attack Godzilla with his claws and beak...that shield would collide with Godzilla and instantly destroy him. Just think about that :P

This movie doesn't look terrible actually. The special effects are decent for the time but its the design of the monster itself that brings it down... a lot.

This might be the first time Mark reviewed a movie that I've actually seen. This is one of my favorite B movies. I laughed my ass off the first time I saw it. It's not just that the bird is weird looking and kind of bad, it's that the actors are actually relatively good and serious, so their reactions to the bird are hilarious compared to what it actually looks like. The film is mostly a bad B movie rather than a good sci-fi movie because of the bird puppet.

Hi from Australia, home of creatures that want to kill you. The idea of a huge killer bird may seem hilarious, but we have:- THE CASSOWARY! Part bird. Part dinosaur. All violence. Why there is no Cassowary horror movie, I just don't know!

I’m extremely impressed with how good the monster and the scale of things looked. Like you said for a 50s B-movie… This thing blows away a lot of the modern-day shitty “bad movies“. I mean they even made the birds nostrils move and all kinds of other details. And the claw shot at the very end actually looked really good.

The acting was good, it's really ok direction and production, but I heard that the monster was to be stop motion...there were budget cuts. I wonder if this movie has a a real Canadian connection, to hear Canada mentioned in an old B movie might mean there was some sort of interaction. This is the kind of movie Holly weird should remake, and bring to life the original vision, with stop motion but today's movie machine is lazy, dull...to much propaganda!
GREAT review, I love the spicing...very creative!

I've always loved, this movie!!! Still watching it, 55+ years later. It's one of my basic, '50's sci-fi/horror staples. Great cast, lineup too. Loved how you interfused yourself into, the picture😉👍!!! Oh yeah, the Giant Claw came to Earth, 'cause it's flat. Makes it easier to land😆!!! Joke-able bird, special effects, made in a country, where they're not known, for good special effects; Mexico. Maybe extends into pictures, too😏…………
