    The first buck is down! Year one of our food plots has produced an early harvest! (For us) Yesterday morning, 250 yards from the plot in the second layer of cover. 👍 My cousin tagged out on a nice cold front buck-!

    About ten years ago is when I started to notice when the pre rut started on our property. It is the best time to be hunting on our little piece. October 19- November 1. Man it's awesome and some years its okay. When our does come in to estrus this year im hoping for nice cool mornings. With NNW, WNW or N winds. I do love a good East wind too. Anything other than the ordinary West or southwest winds. Fingers crossed for a good year!

    Your tips have drastically improved our families land in a years time, and I couldn't be more grateful. I haven't paid a cent, yet. It was too late for me to purchase your brassica this year as I already had a mix, I built from your suggestions. I plan on giving back when I can, because of the knowledge and understanding you have given me for free. I have the results very well documented, everything on our farm has improved. Next year's plan is to change the ground with your video series for years to come.

    Jeff and Dylan I learn so much from watching your videos. It has taught me to be a smarter better hunter.. not everyone has woods they can move deep into like myself.. I have tons of woods around me (bedding) and less than 1 acre of woods of actual woods.. but what I do have is over 100 acres of beans with a treeline that runs the middle. So most of my hunting is evening until the rut which I have treestand along the edge of that bean field.. thanks for the tips and great videos you guys put out. I don't hunt inches but I do have about 4-6 130 to 160 class and then a big 200 plus deer I missed on Halloween morning last year (missed judging the yardage by 10) he was pushing a doe into thick cover at 8:20 am
    I'm located in northern Ohio about 8-10 miles from the lake in lorain County

    Got does and even a fawn on my new cell cam within three days of setting up my mock scrape and licking branch, and have been following along chores and have seen a consistent schedule of them revisiting the branch the last couple of months - - today got my first buck on camera checking out the licking branch! Thanks for all the vids!

    Moving horizontal kind of explains why the trails that seem dead early in the season , suddenly begin to show use .
    I set up in areas where I've done well in the past . Never really paid much attention. Figured it's just the " lull " when I don't see any .
    This year I looked up my tag history on states web site . Majority of my tags have been filled from 10 / 28 to Thanksgiving.

    Had a tremendous buck on camera several times,now I haven't seen him in any photos.The 600 acres behind me were not being hunted and sold to a neighbor who has been logging some of the property. The Coyotes hunt all night long around here.Maybe the Coyotes have gotten him nobody on our Rd has harvested him because he's totally unique.I had 6 does eating nuts under my stand for about 30 minutes yesterday I'm not high up just camo that matches my surrounding and completely scent free.I have never been busted yet.No ground scrapes or rubbing yet.I live in SW KY.Always a North wind blowing in my face when I enter my stand.

    • @Buelford
      @Buelford 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@claybaitsoutdoorchannel00 after I spooked him he ran 300 yards to my other stand ironically. Proceeded to feed there for an hour and a half while I sat in my blind hoping he'd come back. I have a cell camera at both stands so I literally got 50 pictures of him standing perfectly broadside in front of my tree stand. He showed up a few times after the fact the next week. Again I was at work. I haven't seen him since, I don't think I spooked him bad enough to kill the season I'm just frustrated is all because I haven't seen any bucks in the area since then. I know this is the dreaded October lull, which is an absolute myth I'm just overthinking things and weirded out. I still have does coming everyday constantly, I actually had six in one picture. Where are the bucks? I'm afraid to even go to my spot now LOL

  • @RS-ms1bz
    @RS-ms1bz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Jeff, this season my waterholes could be my saving grace, especially during the rut. The drought has just continued and even the rye in my plots have been stunted to the point of just hanging on. Does and fawns have been hitting the water holes consistently for the last few months, so hoping any cruising bucks will be hitting them as well in the coming few weeks.

    Meant to comment yesterday. In northern New York the rut has started a tiny bit early, we’re in muzzleloading season, 10/16 in the morning a small buck chased a doe into the brush 10 yards under my stand. That evening an 8pt deer pushed about 5 doe in front of me. I have a small property and the unwritten rule of the neighborhood is nothing under 8pt. He wasn’t a prize but he was meat in the freezer. Hoping for the prize (I’ve seen him on my cameras) to show up in rifle season next week!

    Great job Jeff. I am hooked on your video's. Not much happening yet in Southwest WI(Blue Mounds) Scrapes not active yet, a few rubs. Small four pt eating acorns last night. Crops are getting cut so deer are moving to the uncut fields. Could be I have a bear in the area again, and when he is there, the deer vacate! Coyotes are chasing deer. I have a trail cam pick of that action. Oct 27- Nov 3 is always my GO Time! Let the rut begin!
    Good Luck to you this year.......

    I am going to open a can o' worms here. In Southern Indiana we harvested a trophy buck late this afternoon with a large swollen neck over cut corn. I passed up three shots on him last year due to no clean shot. This year his antlers have decreased, but my 10 year old grandson was at my side so I took him as a memory builder. He is the third buck I have taken with a Raven crossbow over 75 yards away in an open field. We sight this bow in at 100 yards and have taken seven deer with it. Some hunters may scoof at these shoots but the arrow penetrated over six inches as I had to remove the arrow and Rage broad head from the heart. Nonetheless, great family memories.

    I thought my bucks took off. They didn’t! Just moved their activity a few hours earlier I missed them by 30 minutes! But they are still there which is good considering how many times I’ve hunted them lately I’m backing off now for 14 days ( after one more attempt Tuesday morning) but have a plan now. Thankfully I moved a camera which gave me the data. I’m just outside a big bedding area I believe.
    The morning temps have been 25-35 degrees and they are pushing each other around as of last week.
    Boy I gotta get in quiet and early, I made a travel corridor but also made it hard to access by accident hahaha.

    I need your advice; I have a 50 acre private parcel to hunt in southern Michigan, the 50 is made up of about half corn (cut now) surrounded by woods. I have two ground blinds and one tree stand setup. I do not have any way to access the blinds or stand without spooking deer since I have to walk the edge of the cut corn to get to them. That's why I typically hunt in the PM, the deer are already bedded so I try and get there very quietly. Even then the deer know I'm there. What do you suggest? I have taken two nice bucks in the last two years but not during bow season. The rut hasn't started here yet but it's close

    Jeff, Great Hunting info as usual. I use this every time. I have a question for you about public lands Hunting. In one of the areas that I go that has decent Deer 🦌 Activity in the past, has changed over the years due to a Riffle range near by. I have been very keen about selectively Hunting around that area due to deer obviously changing their patterns. So, in short I normally don't Hunt near the Range for obvious reasons. I have other Hunting spots that I can go since it's public lands. But I would like to hear your thoughts on this topic. Thanks for all that you do. Great job from you and Dylan 🦌👍PS: My Hunting is getting better every time too...

    Thank you Jeff! I look forward to your videos! Heading to SW WI Grant Co on 10/21 for a week! Question for you, in some videos I see you have a handheld release which looks to have nice grippy between finger grip. What brand is that? Thank you again! Good luck this season

    So I have a question I hunt PA and we’re getting cold weather Tuesday to Friday, but then they are saying it will heat up to like high sixties low seventies. What will this warmer weather do to the bucks in my area do after the cold front moves through?

    What would you do if you have a monster buck forming a pattern and showing itself at daylight hours but the wind is bad and blowing right at where he comes out but the temperature is perfect cause it just dropped significantly. How would you hunt or would you wait?

    • @papajohnsy6659

      Wait. Good conditions with a bad wind are not good conditions. Having him smell you is a great way to shut him down immediately.

    Check the comments, somebody using your logo and telling people they won something..don't anyone fall for it, IT'S A SCAM!. If anyone sees it, report the comment. Same thing has been happening on a lot of metal detecting channels as well. Great info, thanks for posting!

    If you were a "typical" hunting industry guy, your white board and dry erase markers would be sponsored by now. Great stuff, as usual.

    So what is it on that buck's leg at 5:20? Is that a disease of some sort, or a wound?
