This is amazing, put up my first mock vine scrape august 31st around 5pm. I have pictures of deer literally hitting it 2-3 hours later, on public land. Thanks guys!
Let's just say I'm a believer. Son and I copied your design and suggestions. Aug 24th we used a stick to make the scrape, cut a quick vine, and hung it at 2 pm with some twine I dug out of my truck. At 4.30 pm the deer were already using it. Have gotten some really great photos of a great buck who is also using it regularly. Can't thank you enough. Love your content. Wishing you a great season!

Love your channel I set a mock scrape and scent stick just as you said and 4 days later I have two deer using the stick.... I can’t wait for the season to start here in Maine but my stands with your scrape are seeing more activity and we still have a few months till rifle season. This has been invaluable when doing buck recon in an area as well.
I have just made my first major purchase of 50 acres of completely vacant land in pa and have been binge watching your videos and learning a ton! It has great potential and I have been seeing some really nice bucks but I wish I had more time to prepare this year. Best scrape ever! Used this for the first time last year after finding your videos. I was shocked with the amount of activity and that deer went out of their way to hit it. This year I have young bucks, does and fawns already using it. Best thing ever, thank you for this!

Just made one today in my favorite spot with a camera on it. Don’t have many vines in my area so I used a white oak limb. Can’t wait to check my camera!
New subscriber, bowhunting in Manitoba on the open prarrie farmlands. Deer use farm yards as bedding areas and tree lines for travel routes. Set up licking branch on the end of a tree line near a creek. Had my first pictures 12 hours later. Thanks for the tip, hoping the bucks in area will come to love this licking branch. Setting up for muzzleloader next week.
If it wasn’t for Jeff’s videos I wouldn’t have gotten my buck last year. My mock scrape was a total hot spot and plus it was nice getting to see all of the bucks come by and hit it year round
You're the first person I've heard talking about moc scrapes. Most hunters around here focus on bait piles. I took your advice and hung one near my stand, I have several pictures on my trail cam of dear using it. Thanks for the info.

My one with the cell camera has had a doe hit it in 24 hours and 4 point hit it last night. And I did your recommendation of peeing in it also. I’m going out this weekend to check the 2 memory card only locations.
Put up 3 on 125 acres in some what of a triangular formation spread across the property. You seriously have the best informational/educational videos out here. I put you on as a “podcast “ while I’m driving from job to job. I watch bodies multiple times, I seem to pick out more “points” or fully grasp your concepts doing that. I love your hanging vine/branch idea. I've used mock scrapes for years, but it was always a major hassle finding a natural branch in the right location to use as a licking branch, and also be able to set up a stand close by. This ends all that! I followed your directions to make one last week using a one-inch sapling, and was able to set up a perfect scrape close to a great tree for my climbing stand. I do prefer however, to use a scrape dripper that only drips during daylight hours, and it was no problem adding that to your setup. I had a nice 8-point visit it the first night. In the past I've had raccoons pee in my mock scrapes, and also coyotes roll in them. The videos you get at these are always entertaining. Thanks for this great idea!

When I first read about your system in your book I was skeptical but boy was I wrong. Every deer that came in had its face in that vine. Bucks does and fawns. Made for great pictures and videos! If you want a system that works try it!
Love my mock scrape. Ive gotten alot more bucks checking it than ive ever seen. Does use it too. Im in the middle of the city on less than 1/2 acre. Plan on making a water hole and a food plot. I have a 5 acre wood lot that is their bedding area nearby. Ive shot three does behind the house in the city with my bow over the years but this next year is game on.

I don’t have natural vines on my land but have had very good success using them from other properties. I think the scent absorbs into them pretty well. Never used any scents. Once one deer hits it you’re golden.
Best thing since sliced bread used them for first time last year and the more time passes the more abs more deer are on em. Best thing no need to go back with heavy bags of corn or anything find them movement and put it out they will do just like you said thanks brother
I agree with everything you said about using natural materials. I also think location is key I often make them on heavy trails that already have scrapes on them and I’ll find an elevation change or some where that I would expect there to already be a scrape and when I make it I use my own urine and I even spit my own human saliva on the “licking branch” and it works unbelievably well. The activity is immediate and aggressive where if I don’t use any scent at first and just make the scrape sometimes it doesn’t even get used.

Just nailed my first buck ever using this set up down in NC. Buck walked within twenty yards of me in a ground stand straight into the scrape 10 minutes after I set down. I really appreciate you helping me getting my first buck!!

I went out and made two of them the other day. I have no clue what kind of vine I used but I’m pretty shure it wasn’t poison ivy vine. Excited to see how it work. One of the nicer bucks that was growing got hit by a car the other night. I was pretty upset about that. A bald eagle was actually eating him, he had his brows growing and about half of the main beam
Putting 2 out today with cams on them and adding antler gro to the browse in that area

Setup a blind yesterday (unfortunately all had time for this year) and put a grapevine mock scrape. Walked at @3pm and had a hit on it at 7:30p.

Holy Jesus!..... HOLY Jesus!!..... HOLY JESUS!!!............. You are right! I am 60yo and have been a average deer hunter all my life. This year I started watching your vids and one of the intriguing features you push are these mock scraps. After watching a 100 of your deer mark the vines..... I thought I'd give it a try.
JUST tonight, I decided to take a hike out the back of my home in WV and up into the hills to set a mock scrape of my own. My hike would be about a 1/2 mile in...... I was literally 75 yards from my HOUSE and about 40 yards into the woods looking for a vine to cut. I spot one........ as I get closer..... LOW AND BOLD.... guess what. It was a mock scrape.... and it had a one inch grape vine danging into it with the tip of the vine just 5 inches off the ground and the scrape was 5 foot in length and nearly 3 feet wide. Don't be mad...... I cut that dude about 8 feet long, never touched the last 4 feet and hiked it up onto a ridge I want to hunt this year. It is now set on a clearing on a ridge between two hay fields. TIME will tell....... I'll report back. But DAMN it's true and I Thank You!!!!

Hi all, it is 1/3/2022 and I put out a licking branch today on an already established trail that is pretty well used but placed it where they should stop in a shooting lane I made. I did it just like you suggested with plenty of room for deer to move around it. I placed a camera on it and two hours later I already had both does and bucks investigating it. By the way I knocked the sides out of an old buck on 12/29 with 10 minutes left and I had more deer around my stand in the last 45 minutes that day than all season. FYI Huntwise gave me 5 buck day that entire day so it was definitely correct. I suspect it was the brutal cold and the snow we received. I have high hopes for new addition of the licking branch to have the big boys stopping in to use the mock scrape.
I'm just trying this for the first time this year, year prior I just hung green surveyors tape. Found the deer go from tape to tape and I could change the path of the deers travel.
Hey Jeff, im new to hunting, and I think im going to put out a mock scrape, so should I put it out now or should I wait longer, also when do the deer start using the mock scrape. Also great videos, ive learned a lot, and always make sure to leave a like.
I want to thank you for all the information, I have a 50 acre farm in SW PA below Pittsburgh, about 37 acres alternating corn soy crops but the border I have been using your techniques, the last 4 years I've harvested 4 respectable buck, to me the deer seem to like the cuisine of different forage, this year I'm doing the licking branches, can't wait to see the results, as far as cameras do you recomend video over stills ? The place where I put my mock scrape I placed it under a cedar tree. What’s unique about this tree is that I call it the lonely cedar tree for the next 400-450 yards. I noticed many trails going to it and splits off. Another unique feature is that it’s very secluded, about 3/4 miles deep into the woods behind cover and brush. That’s when I knew that was my spot for a mock scrape.
Yesterday (10-8-22) i had 2 does come in 5 mins after shooting time started that came to my scrape and left. I didn’t shoot it because it was very foggy barely 10 feet visibility so I never knew it was there. I was pissed after I had check my trail cam on how close they were.
Besides good food plots, this is the best improvement you can do hands down imho.

So I stopped by to tell you all about my experience. I’ve been watching Jeff’s videos for a few years. Last year I finally got myself on some awesome private land and could really use some of his tactics. My first year, it was stand locations and food. But this year I wanted to try the mock scrapes and camera techniques.
I also did a mineral site as he intended. This past week I set up my first “Sturgis Mock Scrape” vine and all. And literally that night 8 hours later, it got hit by 3 doe and 2 buck. They then hit my mineral site. Before that scrape I had very little activity on the minerals, and little pictures.
The only thing I did different was I put some Wildlife Resource Management Active Scrape to fire off the ground.

I did this last year about this time of year ( late July) with a 5 ft vine. Scraped back the leaves and immediately had many bucks using it. They rubbed the bark off of it by September here in west KY. Thanks brother! I also used the small parcel less than 10 acre set up and had great success. I got permission to hunt a 60 acre plot of land yesterday. If you see this I would love to ask you a couple of questions. It's a great spot lots of deer but the fields are over grown between woods and fence rows. How would you approach the first year this late in the summer?
Hey Jeff I put out 2 of your mock scrapes last week. Dylan would have won the bet because they were both hit later that day. Also forgot to bring gloves but it didn't matter. Next project is a water hole but not sure how I'm going to be able to fill it, thanks for the great info
Just did the vines this year ,I always broke a branch and made it hang correct hight over scrape
in the northern big woods where my property is, if you make a scrape and hang a red pine branch over it, you'll have spike bucks on it within 90 minutes of your exit. Even the black bears will come through and check it out (which can be problematic).
This works… bought 85 acres last Dec in mid-Michigan and saw 1 deer. Today checking the cameras, and had 6 deer at the same time around the mock scrape. Used a beech tree branch about 1”
You need any help hunting those 85 acres this season?😂😂😂

Around the 15:00 mark you talk about identifying grape vines from poison ivy vines.
Besides the "leaves three, let it be" method, another identifier is that POISON IVY vines are "hairy" looking.
After watching you on this plots and much more then learning how to set my arrows watching ranch fairy I think all there is left is to pick BIG which is a 7 yr old 12 point or SNEAK which is our 5 yr old 14 point hmmm choices ... Thank you for the knowledge Jeff ever down in KY I know some major public land spots that have giants and plenty of cull bucks

Love vertical mock scrapes with white oak from the property. My stands about 35 yards away from it.

I put in a new mock scrape on the 10th and within a week had multiple deer using it. Didn’t use any scent or urine. Just waiting to see the first mature buck use it. 🤞🏼

I've done grapevines and polypropylene rope. Rope works great and it's easier to acquire and replace.
Unfortunately not hit nearly as well as something natural like a branch or vine. Wrong weight, size, etc...after observing more than 10,000 mock scrapes in over 20 states.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Like I said, I've done both. Currently observing ropes on over 45 trail cameras. I don't see a noticeable difference in attraction. Does, fawns and bucks can't resist investigating and leaving scent.
I am new to this, and it looks very promising! Only question is how often does the vine set off the camera when swinging in the wind? Seems like it might be an issue if the camera was too close.
We call them monkey vines because we used to swing from them when we were kids. They make great licking branches too!!
Man I really appreciate all the tips and knowledge you put out! I'm going to put a mock scrape out. I'm in Texas is there any tips you have per area. Also I've had horrible luck with Cellular Trail cameras what do you like the best. I'm also diabetic so I loved the tips on staying warm. Thanks God Bless
Hand and feet warmers are life savers. Also sounds kind of not manly. But leggings and pantyhose are great insulators. As far as camera I currently am running 2 Spypoint Micro LTE cameras in the middle of bottomlands they hold battery life very well and surprisingly good on signal.
Very fortunate to live on west ky high bluffs full of vines, pines, and limestone. This equals monster bucks

I will be hunting for three weeks this fall, the last two weeks of October and the first week of November. Is it worth it to start a mock scrape with a licking stick when I get there at this time of the year? Thanks!

Hi Greg! I highly recommend placing one on a trail you are watching from your bowstand...every bowstand, in the middle of the trail
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Would this be a trail that you create to connect to your food plot to try to get deer to travel on or an established deer trail that they created naturally which may run near your access point?
@@gregallman3715 I put mine on a trail I created between bedding and food plot. After creating the bedding area approximately 100 yards from my plot entrance, I hinge cut smaller trees to create a nice wide trail, my scrape is about 50 yards from bedding and plot. Last year was the first time I did this and I was shocked with the usage. So far this season I've been working in my plot so there's no food yet but the deer still hit my scrape daily. I can't wait for Oct! Good luck!
I've had just about every buck I've ever had on camera come up and check out the camera i'll just have pictures of their noses and it has never scared any of them off. They can hear the little click also when it snaps pictures sometimes. Makes for some great picture angles of each deer

@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 I have killed nice size bucks the last 4 years I've owned this property. This year I'm after the biggest buck I've ever seen. I'm wondering if a boss buck feeder would scare him off? I put it out over a month ago. Haven't seen that particular buck yet on camera
Love the videos , I have a question . I have a good stand set on the edge of soy bean . How ever there is no place to hang a mock scrape except for a high brand over hanging tall weeds o the edge …. Will it work if I clean out an area .. it’s right beside of trails coming out .
Hi, great idea with the vine scrape. I've been binge watching your videos and put up my first 2 yesterday. Question, Do you have trouble with false triggers? I have 1 of the 2 vines in front of a Render and seem to get false triggers. I'm not sure if its the vine or something else. Let me know, thank you for all the great content you put out.

Is it best to put the mock scrape along a field treeline or having it in the woods? Or, are both effective as long as you follow the basic setup guidelines as described in this video?
I've recently purchased a new home on 5 acres, bordered by larger parcels of heavily forested and steep terrain. This is my first year of hunting quarry that can't shoot back, lol. I just found your channel this past week and am very impressed with your working knowledge and experience, which shows through very educational, and highly entertaining videos. I'm in northeast TN and bow season is currently underway. My question is this...would it be OK to put up a scrape right now? I don't have any food plots set up yet...just a couple preexisting feeders, but do have existing bedding areas and heavy deer activity both on and around my property. Also, all the trail cams I currently have require physically retrieving the SD cards. Flat land is minimal here, and I am constrained to within my own property lines. There are so many game trails that it's virtually impossible to not find one within 10 to 20 feet of each other. Activity as of late has dwindled to one fine buck that I catch on camera every single day, but his times of passage is very unpredictable. It sounds to me that I waited too long to do anything effective this season. What are your recommendations to improve my chances of harvesting deer this season? I'm hoping you have some good advice for me!!! Thanks.

I would say cut one at ur house and take it in with you and use it that way I’m not sure

Question: you talked about two different height vines, waist high and chest high, but I didn’t catch your logic on why and when to use one height versus another. Can you help me understand that?
If you tie your licking branch to an overhead branch that has a lot of leaves tie the branch so it hangs at lower waist height during the summer. Then in the fall, winter and spring the scent branch may very well rise up when the main branch loses its' load of leaves.
