Garage wanted $279 for the part and $440 to install it....I purchased one for $98 and Im doing the install myself. Im sure it won't go as simple as shown here...Nothing ever does but Im prepared to fight when it comes to $600 difference.
I just wanted to say thank u. I just replaced my entire control arm with the help of ur video. I'm by far a mechanic but with ur vid man oh man u made the whole process simple. Thank u so much again and keep dropping these videos u got my subscription.
I've watched quite of few DIY videos for my Chevy from A-Z. Why didn't I find you guys sooner? Your's are the best, bar none. There are no words... but I'll say thank you. 🤧😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 Done and DONE!
If I might add a step. And it is a pain in the butt step: On an 09 Malibu with the 3.6 flex fuel engine, you have to loosen the motor mount nuts, upper & lower, on the mount that is ahead of the forward control arm mount. You then have to raise the engine enough that the bolt can be removed. If not, you will never get it out. From what I understand, this problem is unique to this model / engine application. This will also require unpinning the forward wheel well liner at 3 places and folding it up to get to the upper nuts. This is required for both left & right control arms. One little plus is that the motor mount on the driver side is rubber. You can raise the engine enough to pull the whole mount out & cut a notch in it to let the bolt slide out with it installed.
Would it be a good idea to measure the distance between the center of the wheel hub nut to the top of the fender before replacing to get the proper ride height?
I watched this video and several others and they all assume you have a car lift... If you came to this video as someone doing this yourself instead of as a mechanic, do yourself a favor and START by putting the balljoint in before putting the other connection points in. Trying to hammer the balljoint in with only 6-10 inches of space between it and the ground does not work.
Exactly, these videos are nice. But the average Joe who can't afford to pay a mechanic to do the work. Obviously can't afford a freaking 🙄 tall garage with a lift and probably doesn't have air tools as well.
My man did that shii in 6 minutes😂😂😂, this is gonna take me 6 hours, great job thank you. What if i dont have the tool that beeps to torque it at the end
@@wesrolbiecki1607 Yea, just checked on my '05 with the V6, the mount will have to be removed, the motor will have to be supported as well before the mount comes off.
@@wesrolbiecki1607 Only the 4 cyl model doesn't have motor mounts in the way. My 05 V6 does. Put a block of wood on a jack and support the engine under the oil pan. Driver side mount is super easy to remove. Passenger side sucks
Ummm.....what about lifting the motor up an inch or two so you can move the motor mount out of the way to get that long ass bolt back in? They didn't show that.
Thank you someone said it I have a 3.5 and the transmission mount is in the way and I’ve been fighting it for 2 hours trying to not have to unbolt the transmission

I got it out but I had to sacrifice 6 hours

Will I need to get alignment done afterwards?
What happens if you don’t load the suspension and tighten those bolts ?

Pickle fork for ball joint.
If only my rearward bushing is broke can I still use the same arm ? Just buy the bushing itself ??
You marked the control arm with rearward bushing. Did you align these before you tightened the bolt or was it for directional purposes
09 G6 2.4 and looks like im going to try and do mines. I wish i could just loosen up or take off the rearward bushing by it self. Is it possible?
Great video! Easy to follow ! Thanks
I just performed this on my 2012 Malibu. Three long knuckle bustin hour proceedure. Shoulda paid a guy.
Can you redo the video using car jacks and stands? I dont have a lift. 😢
My man did that shii in 6 minutes😂😂😂, this is gonna take me 6 hours, great job thank you. What if i dont have the tool that beeps to torque it at the end
Great video
What type of Greece did you use
I tightened the bolts before i lowered the car. What to expect?
Is the drivers side the same procedure?
How many Jack stands is the vehicle on ? Can I safely do this without getting the vehicle on a lift ?
Great video. Thank you!
Very good video.!
The part I'm confused on is why tighten to the torque spec then tighten even more? I mean they have a spec for a reason or am I missing something?
Great video by the way. Going to do my son's 2009 Malibu soon along with sway bar links and tie rod links plus shocks.
Part of the torque spec is the rotation.
Good video guys
My rear bushing on my new control arm would not come off or pivot
Nice job thanks for the advice by the way your rotors are in the wrong direction
I have clunking in my front end when I stop and take off. Looks like I'll be doing mine.
Good job
Great video about to do mine
Try the driver side!!!! Not so easy like there showing!!!
I've done both now. Both on the ground with Jack's. Little determination 💪 and you will get it
You guys must be stuck in 80's lol. Don't nobody load the suspension just to tighten the control arm bolts. Just tighten them and keep it moving
Considering I have this car and my Moog Control Arm has failed 3 times in the last 7 years I'd say they're doing it right
Do third world back yard garage have a torque wrench?
Yo was this guy a pit crew for nascar or somethin?
shop wanted 1400 for balljoint sway bar links and tierods um 140 including shipping i thinks so lol
i see y u guys didn’t do the drivers side
+Wes Rolbiecki the repair for the drivers side would be the same as passenger side
@@TRQ got a 2010 malibu and had motor mounts in the way of everything

This is not what MY 08 malibu looks like on the front bolt......... There is a mount of some kind in the way making the 15min job a 2 or 3 hr job.
Ummm.....what about lifting the motor up an inch or two so you can move the motor mount out of the way to get that long ass bolt back in? They didn't show that.
I didn't have to
I believe that is a on a "LTZ" model. I saw that today at the pick your parts..looks tough
Thank you someone said it I have a 3.5 and the transmission mount is in the way and I’ve been fighting it for 2 hours trying to not have to unbolt the transmission
I wonder if you could replace a truck engine.
There’s no r in the word vehicle
*VERICLE*
Your video is messed up
Where did they mess up at I real curious? I am planning on doing the repair myself without a lift and dont want any problems to arise.
