    When you see the sorts of things Anakin Skywalker has done, it makes sense why Darth Vader would tell Luke Skywalker that it was too late for him and that he was beyond saving.
    Also, at the end when Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan are fighting, the choreography is amazing, especially when you consider the fact that the two actors are NOT filmed at high speed, the two practiced so much that they were actually able to fight at that speed.

      I absolutely LOVE that line from Vader (or really I should say Anakin because that was Anakin saying it, not Vader) and I think it’s really underrated. Because it’s one of the last things he says to Luke before the confrontation with Palpatine but more importantly, it’s the last and strongest piece of evidence Luke needed to know that his father could be pulled back to the light. Because someone who is evil and truly thinks they’re in the right wouldn’t say things like “it’s too late for them”. They wouldn’t feel like it’d be too late for redemption for themself, they wouldn’t think they needed redemption at all.

    Hi Asia and BJ, to answer your question, when George Lucas created Star Wars he explained the origin of Darth Vader's name. The Dutch word for father is Vader( prounced like father). Lucas wanted a name that sounded like Dark father. Interestingly in the original film now known as episode 4 Vader was intended to be a separate character. The plot twist of him being Luke's father came about fairly late during the writing of The Empire Strikes Back. All sith lords have Darth as their first name. In the Phantom Meanace we had Darh Maul, in Attack of the Clones, Count Dookus sith name was Darth Tyrannus and Palpatine himself was Darth Sidious. Anyway glad you liked the film. Fun fact, when Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christnesen performed the light saber duel, it wasn't sped up in any way, they really did go that fast and both actors performed the stunts during the fight.

    • @gabethebabe3337
      @gabethebabe3337 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He actually envisioned Vader was Luke’s father near the end of A New Hope. There is even unused concept art of Vader thinking about Padme that was drawn by Ralph McQuarrie. Concept art is done before filming. Both Luke and Anakin went through many changes before the first movie. At one point they were the same character.

    Yoda tells Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back that the dark side isn't stronger, it's just "quicker, easier, more seductive." And Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine was the one manipulating Anakin with the dreams and stuff.

    Qui Gonn spirit taught Obi Wan to become a force ghost, (at the end of the movie Yoda said to Obi that someone returned from the netherworld of the force). The "Darth" part of the name is a Sith title, similar to "Lord". It began about 4000 years prior to the movies, with Darth Revan and Darth Malak (their stories are told in the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic). Though there were Sith Lords prior to them, they began that naming convention.
    As for "Vader", it's the Dutch word for 'father'. George Lucas intentionally made the name reminiscent of "Dark Father". Fitting, right?

    An observation that I've carried with me since 2005: A friend had said, when Anakin had taken Windu's hand, because of Anakin's reasoning that, "He must stand trial", the friend had said that it was the most Jedi thing Anakin could have done. In principle, and in an extremely tragic was, it's sad but it's true.

    • @Jeroogalo
      @Jeroogalo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Anakin says that the one with control of the Senate and the courts who has been controlling both sides of a galactic war must stand trial, but he killed Dooku without a trial a couple days earlier. But Sidious offered something he wanted, so now suddenly he's a stickler for the rules

    • @CapPigDog
      @CapPigDog 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You could argue that Dooku was a learning moment. Anakin even says he shouldn't have done that. At the very least it makes it a very interesting way to look at it.

      Keep in mind what Palpatine exactly said when Anakin did something he knows he shouldn't have. "He was too dangerous to be kept alive". A moniker passed to him by what he knows is THE Sith Lord.
      And here comes Mace Windu, literally parroting the line at him "He's too dangerous to be left alive!". This puts it in Anakin's head that the Jedi's rules and the Sith's may not be so different.

    The sith at this point in the story live by the rule of 2. One master to temper the dark side power and an apprentice to crave it. Like Master Jedi or Jedi Apprentice, Darth is a title given to the disciplined and dedicated users of the darkside of the force to distinguish them within the ranks. There are actually those on the light side of the force that can rival those on the dark side as each side has their own powerful counterparts. I was incredibly disappointed when I first saw Vader vs Kenobi and to be honest, that feeling carried through the whole OG trilogy. I kept thinking "imagine how good this would be if George did this today"
      The base story is obviously amazing but they‘re just old.
      I love old movies but that particular old style just makes everything not seem serious in the case of Star wars(especially the antagonists).
      Vader in the og trilogy is so much less terrifying than he should be for example, and don’t get me started on the AT-STs on Endor. Just a few teddy bears and tree trunks taking down whole squadrons of AT-STs.
      How am I supposed to take any of it seriously/ have emotional investment…
      Star wars is at it‘s best when you feel the gravity of the situation and ramifications, and in the OG trilogy I didn’t even feel that when they blew up the death star.
      Best example: the death star in Rogue 1 is SO much more scary, despite it blowing up a whole planet in new hope.

      There's a kinda hard to find clip of them training together and then at some point they walk off the mat and I'm pretty sure spontaneously do synchronized spinning saber tosses into the air. I'm definitely someone who looks down at the prequels a lot but just that one BTS clip kinda made me love this trilogy again.

    Alll the things tha happen in this movie... it makes you understand why Darth Vader was so powerful and feared. His power came from his hatred. His hatred of Obi-Wan. His Hatred of Palpatine. But mostly.... his hatred of himself. I saw this movie in theaters when it first came out, and it still makes me cry.

    Being afraid to lose the ones you care about will bring you to the darkside. So it is much harder to be a Jedi Master than a Sith Lord. To be a sith you just have to act on your feelings. To be a Jedi you have to filter your feelings to think clearly and act accordingly to remain on the the lightside.

    I think Palpatine got into Anakin's head over time and showed him a vision of Padme dying in child birth just at the right time for it to freak Anakin out the most. At that point it became a self-fulfilling prophecy planted by the Sith.

    About picking the name Darth Vader: for that, we have to step outside of the Star Wars universe and set foot back in reality to explain it. George Lucas symbolically chose the Dutch language (from his distant ancestry) to name the antagonist of his fantasy world, Dark Father, in Dutch is Darth Vadar (Vader). It wasn't until much later in his life that he sought to give the fans what they wanted (more story) so that's where you can step back into the fantasy world of Star Wars to try and find out where Sith get the title of Darth like an Apprentice gets the title of Knight.

    Darkside you get an immediate boost, but in the long run lightside users can always get stronger. I think the reasons for that have more to do with just the mindset of each side rather than some well.... unless you think of Love/Forgiveness/Mercy vs. Hate/Nihilism/Solipsism as being 2 different wells.... in which case one could argue that describes why the light side can always get stronger as the dark side both caps out early and is quite debilitating over time.

    Hayden's acting is so good in this movie. When he talks about bringing peace to his new Empire, you can tell he's putting on such a front. Wearing a mask to hide what he's done from himself. This movie is so tragic and so poignant.
