What's your definition of ultra-wide? There are several other full-frame ultra-wide mirrorless zooms out there at fixed f/2.8. Sony's 16-35mm GM, Canon's RF 15-35mm L, Sigma's 14-24mm Art (which I use often,) Tamron's 17-28mm Di III RXD, Tokina's Opera 16-28mm, and maybe a couple others I'm forgetting.

The price is pretty impressive. When you compare the sigma price is it really worth the extra. I’ve used the sigma and was incredibly impressed so not sure id spend the money 💰 great review as always 💓

You might be able to fix that boosted motor just by unplugging and replugging the motor cable. You can also try electrical contact cleaner on the pins.

Very nice lens. I have the 12-24mm f/4 which is just fine for me. But
the one I really like is my 10mm f/5.6 Voigtländer. At $3k it's a bit
hard to justify this lens for me.

Why 12-24 f4 does not have internal filer, nice video kai
Just as tasty as the 135 G you did some time ago, can't help thinking though is there any lenses out there that dont need to be stopped down to F4 to get good results. So many lenses claim a wide Aperture and print it on the sale but the reality is it's an F4. Not a negative comment about he channel of course, fun a always. If we look back through all the archive you have done, even with DigRev it's always been an issue with lenses? That bumble be was running for it's life

Coming from you, often sarcastic with a negative undertone (not so much in this review), I’m finally sold on this lens. I placed a pre order for the A1 a few weeks ago. Switching from Nikon I’ve researched EVERY lens available for the Alpha One. I need to get some lenses on order in time for its arrival. I was close to choosing the 20 1.8 or 24 1.4 but I’ve always preferred zoom lenses (yeah I guess I’m not a REAL photographer). Although my Sigma 1.4 was my favorite lens for my Nikon D300 and D810 (even though autofocus was not available in live view mode). Anyway, I’m not finding any cons to this lens. Looking forward to it.

There’s some super cool peeps that have some trendier uses for the 360 cam but I love using it for simple things like this!
who needs a gimble when you got kai on an electric board, where do I order? Also, it stretches close objects wider correct? for example, at th-cam.com/video/XTObzDJmykc/w-d-xo.html I could not tell what was longer his feet or the skateboard? Should I avoid anything of this range for portraits?

Sony 12-24 f/2.8 craziness and the main craziness is the reported “fast” focusing . I’ve heard so so many saw fast focusing is not needed in an ultra wide . But as you are at a skate park ultrawides do DO need to focus fast . I shoot live music photography and videography annnd it’s super important to me . My Tamron 15-30 misses and misses fast close focusing. So the in your face super cool closeups are 99.9999 percent missed .
I want it for real estate, architecture and astro.

Sigma 14mm f/1.8 is better but of course you don't have the on the fly versatility to zoom on demand to 24mm. I just use it for architecture and stuff which is what interchangeable lenses is all about, the ability to change specializations for the ultimate quality.
That is one HEAVY lens, too. Almost 1kg for a wide angle, granted it's a 12-24 f2.8 so... I'm impressed with it. I dunno about investing in the Sony system since I've already invested so much into the micro four loser lenses...
