About time you posted a new vid! I was excited when I first found your channel, watched all the vids!! Now I have to wait for ever for a new one
This is craaaazy!! 24-70GM & 70-200GM, now this!! It’ll complete my kit and probably cover every focal length I ever need haha
Do not think you can stop buying lenses :) After focal lengths, you can discover wider apertures, weird tilt and shift lenses, macro etc.
There is a 200-600mm g lens. Don’t forget that one😘

For those that can't really afford this awesome new Sony wide 12-24mm 2.8, what would you recommend for a good wide angle for street/urban photography that you could still use with some landscape and astro if you head outside the city? Oh that doesn't break bank as well!

That front element looks gorgeous.
Sony G 12-24 f4 is my favourite lens! Super sharp, amazing flare control and lightweight. Never bothered me not having the extra stops at 2.8.
Ohhh great to hear! Yeah I think the extra stop comes handy at night mainly or in astro!
for video, the f2.8 is a must.

i just bought this lens sony 14mm. I noticed a sound when you press shutter button i hear mechanical "chik" of closing aperture sound in lense while focusing. Is it normal?
Hello, first of all, thanks for the nice video. I had a question. I bought this lens today. After taking it out of the box, I noticed that there is a sound inside. When it shakes, something inside moves. Is this normal? If it is normal, what is this shaking thing?
Actually I think my next lens will be the 16-35 GM or 85 1.8 because I don't own them yet and they feel more like something I can use on an everyday basis, AND I can get them both for about the price of the 12-24 GM. However if you decide to give your 12-24 GM to me, I'll accept and use it everyday! 🤣 Thanks for a great review!

Hi ! Can anyone help me with some advice ? I am currently shooting some POV videos with my iPhone 11 Pro ultra wide angle lens which I understand is a 13 mm lens. My question is, if I get a full frame mirrorless, which lens should I get in order to replicate the image from the iPhone ( but better quality ) ? One important thing to consider is that I would like everything in frame to be in focus ( no bokeh ) and very good low light performance . Thank you !

I use a Laowa 12mm, for architecture, which has almost zero-d.
I may buy a Sony mirrorless camera just for this lens . I know crazy right . I’ve had the Tamron 15-35 f/2.8 for several years now and just never have been satisfied. The af is snail pail slow , it flairs and ghosts super bad but will miss focus in concert type lighting more than it hits . It’s not good for what I do . I do like it for slow methodical landscape work though. Peace

Me, with my € 500,- Cam, looking at the price of the lens, sees almost 3000. I go and take pic of tree now
the real question(s) for me is... is it 1600$ better than the 14-24 sigma art? and or is the extra 2mm worth the 1600$ difference?
No polarizing - no problem. Polarising is rarely useful for super-wides as the wide view is usually wider than the polarizer can polarize :D

Very nice lens. I have the 12-24mm f/4 which is just fine for me. But
the one I really like is my 10mm f/5.6 Voigtländer. At $3k it's a bit
hard to justify this lens for me.

I would be afraid of getting that big front element damaged, but I wouldn't mind trying it out though just to get my Creative juices going.

Pierre Lambert Thanks! I have the F4 now, would love to see a comparison. When I was in the canon system I had the Tamron 15-30 2.8. Was so impressed and didn’t mind the extra weight. One stop ISO is huge for me, but is it worth the weight and the extra cost?
Oh man, you’re gonna get your ass smacked by Sony reps. They tried so hard to do a rectilinear lens and you’re talking about distortion. It’s just the perspective stretching. If you put your camera level, there shouldn’t be distortion. ;) Also « it’s the only 12mm lens with autofocus », yeah but it doesn’t need it (if the subject is at 1.7m at f/2.8, everything will be sharp from 0.85m toi infinity) and Canon already had a 11-24 (f/4 sure but what a beast). I have the 11-24, it’s really a special purpose lens. You won’t do street photo with it. Anyway, curious to see what you get out of it on a portrait shoot.
Not for me. I usually take my landscapes between 14mm and 18mm. I had before Voigtlander 10mm and 12mm and rarely used them. So for me the Sony is not worth the money. I would prefer here the Sigma 14-24mm 2.8 Art for Sony. And by the way, the Laowa 12mm 2.8 is super good and sharp like hell.

felt weird that fuji got their 8-16mm f2.8 and it just clicked that this 12-24 is basically the same focal view/zoom range which is really cool to see.
certainly hope/think someone will do a comparison maybe.
Sorry to go full "Know-it-all" mode, but @6:17 you're just plain wrong. It is not the "ONLY lens that goes to 12mm and has autofocus". The slightly older, yet great 12-24mm F4 from Sony has the same focal length and also a perfectly good autofocus.
