I think these guys are way too clever for their own good. No one is going to buy it just because of the naming. It's nearly impossible for your average user to parse.
Nothing Phone (2) does have Face ID
I think the dimming of the Nothing phone at 6:24 can be easily explained with the difference between maximum peak brightness and maximum full screen brightness. Typically companies brag with max peak even though this means that the display can only get this bright in a small area at once because of heat. On OLED TV‘s you can see when the HDR dims down in scenes with large bright elements like the sky.
Nothing could convince me to leave Apple at this point. I’m too invested in the ecosystem. 🤔🤭😂

When you rotate the phone it's briefly going into SDR then swaps to HDR. Most all androids do that. SDR looks overall brighter because it's a flat brightness across the screen. HDR is darkening the low lights and brightening up the highlights like it's supposed to. Some like the contrast of HDR and some like the brightness of SDR
That’s odd iPhone doesn’t do that. HDR is WAAAY brighter than SDR in every case, so much so that even pure whites in SDR surrounding HDR content look extremely dull.
@@Epicgamer_Mac the iphone blows out the highlights too much. It loses detail in the clouds and in the fur of the cheetah which is easily seen. HDR has nothing to do with overall brightness

It’s not about one product, it’s the whole eco-system that Apple products are based on!
But if someone is not invested in Apple Ecosystem, and their friends and relatives have androids, then definitely Nothing phone 2 is a good option, especially at that price point.
Are you sure you enabled HDR display?
That's the option that gives you 1600 nits for HDR content and I believe it's off by default

let’s be honest, the light show on the back is nothing more than a gimmick. It’s about as useful as a lit up Apple logo to the user
I think the notch is such a deal breaker for the iPhone, looks like some old phone from 2015 or something.
The Pro models are fine withe the pill, but the regular models are horrendous

I love my Nothing Phone 1, but my carrier wouldnt activate my import. If they support this phone, it might replace my iphone XR. Im old school, I worshiped tech back when you could get tech that made everyone in the room interested... Today everything is so bland and disappointing, I LOVE that Nothing is bring style back to tech.

when you copy everything from other companies and don’t invest in research and development, you can afford to sell your phone cheaper.
Yeah if it’s a software issue then I wonder if the did that on purpose just to use their selling points. Hoping the users don’t notice the degrading quality. In order to keep the competition with companies. But low key have hidden gimmicks because if it ran at full power all the time it might shorten the battery life significantly or maybe overheat or will burnout who knows you will need to buy another exact phone to make sure this was not intentional and If it is/was was it to cover the tracks of lacking in an area.
The value proposition of the iPhone 14 really can't compete with the Nothing Phone (2).

So this "smart" guy was using iOS 16.0.2? Literally everyone knows that earlier revisions of iOS 16 were bundled with bugs, UI lag, Heating issues (which directly affected performance). I ran geekbench on my iPhone 14 (not plus) with iOS 17 public beta, single core score remained within margin of error while there was a hundred point increase for multi core score. The improvement was in public beta release of iOS 17. Imagine what the increase would be in the most recent (stable) version of iOS 16.

😂 I put case on my phone. If this phones' catch is the led lights in back then it's not for me. I can't buy a phone that requires me to stare at the back to enjoy it.
How fast is the USB-C port on Nothing Phone 2? Both the bus speed and the actual transfer speed?
So copy files/folders from NP2 to a Mac: how fast? (Read performance)
And also: copy from a Mac to NP2, how fast is the write performance?
So will we see a limitation at USB 2.0's 480 Mbps (0,48 Gbps) or not?
And how fast is iPhone 14 Plus at read/write?
they are both USB 2.0 so same speed.
If you're buying your 1st phone, get the NothPhon2. The functionality of the glyphs alone blows out Apple or any other smartphone. The monochromatic design of the UI and the customization of the widgets alone is superior to that of any phone, Apple or not. And the NP2's AI cam's exposure is just fantastic. Cant wait for the shootout. Watch for the highlights and the shadows.
The Nothing Phone 2 camera performance is subpar compared to lot's of 2023 smartphones buddy!

@ozzygm3178 Your statement lacks of facts. Nowadays buying Android or iPhone is pretty much very similar experience. Both platforms and hardware has been improved. To say one is better than other is just lack of experience. I own both and I can tell you for sure that there is not much difference. I have the iPhone 13 pro for work. I use the s22 ultra for my personal device. I actually like better the Samsung due longer screen when I am gaming and also photography due the zoom.
Seems like software trickery to compensate for the lower price of the parts. Screen supports 1600nits but in a far smaller window which makes it useless or only good for movie watching with bright elements like the sun, candles, small explosion. The speakers also seem to be tuned to minimise or hide distortion on bass heavy portions or extreme highs. Again compensating for the lower quality parts but software tries to deliver high quality experiences for 80% of usage scenarios.

This comparison seems pointless. The iPhone runs iOS, the other phone runs Android. That is a far more important difference than hand feel, sound or the display refresh rate.

So the iPhone wins in Screen, sound, performance, probably in camera, and apple has always had the best battery life management. Also you guaranteed to get software updates for 5 plus years. And you can take your phone to a Apple Store or best buy if you need to get it fixed.
Correction: Nothing Phone 2 is running Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, not the god awful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The arguments for the ecosystem are crazy to me because that's not really an argument for people who don't already have apple-everything.
If we're looking at these two phones in a vacuum, especially in a world where apple only has 30% of the global marketshare (about the same as Samsung, they trade blows year-by-year), we can't just assume that everyone else is using an iPhone and cares about blue bubble, and that the customer comparing these phones already has a macbook, imac, apple watch, etc.
In a way, it's a massive downside. If the 'ecosystem' is the reason behind a $300 price gap, you're essentially saying that this ecosystem essentially costs you $300 each upgrade, and forces you into brand loyalty on several of your devices. And somehow their app suite and a blue bubble on someone else's screen makes up for this?

1600 nits does not look 33% brighter than 1200 nits as you would think, because nits brightness increases by a logarithmic scale.

Nothing phone 2 just came out and it's competing against a year old iPhone 14... and still loses. Nobody cares about the nothing phone 2. You'd have to be very shallow to be impressed by the lighting on the back. People buy the iPhone for the quality, the performance, the ecosystem and the improved security and privacy of services. Worse, in reality, the thing phone 2 won't even be competing against the iPhone 14 as the iPhone 15 will be out in 2 months.

@@mathmanchris666 Samsung has always been cutting corners, sends Qualcomm SoC phones to reviewers and ships trash Exynos phones to consumers under the exact same phone brand (if another small company did so, it would face lawsuits overnight). Another example downgrading the RAM from 16GB in S20 U to 12-8GB for the S21/22/23 U.

@@mathmanchris666 Yeah I don’t think anybody would dispute that Samsung is the best Android phone maker - I mean, if there weren’t such things as iPhones, I’d have an S23 Ultra right now guaranteed. But for what it’s worth the Nothing Phone 2 isn’t bad at all and it’s clear they’re trying to make a well-rounded package. Especially if you compare it to the Phone 1 which sucked and now this one is much better.
Also “within the price constraints” is a big point there - it wouldn’t be half decent if it cost a grand but for the price it’s good imo
