That's why I'm not interested in it. And unfortunately, it would be a bigger financial strain on my budget, than some other options. If this phone does good, it means Nothing has come up with a nice niche product. Good job for them!

@@TheMrMobile I think trying to convince him right now is pointless. You are in a bad time to argue this. His current company barely made two phones and just now trying to launch more world-wide.
How can he waste recourses on making a foldable? Even if he wanted to make one it makes no financial sense to make one at the moment.
A foldable right now will be a huge investment for a very limited audience that will be even more limited for Nothing since they will have a hard time keeping cost down. This means their foldable will end up expensive and selling very little.

As I've said many times, IF Karl Pei/Nothing would make the Nothing phone with LEDs mounted in the bezels (around the screen), either a full loop around, or even 'L's on each corner, then HELL YES I WOULD buy that phone! If you've watched Zacks video (JerryRigEverything) on teardowns/or even that time he counted each of the LEDs, you'll see that each of the LEDS are mounted in a THIN 2 LED wide and however many long, per strip. So, mounting a 1 LED by however many long COULD be done because that LED strip WOULD be THINNER! The reason why I ask/suggest this mod is because...
1 - I ALWAYS use a tough case (which covers the back entirely), and,
2 - I N E V E R place my phone face down, EVER. Yes I have a tempered glass screen protector fitted as well as the case (hence after a good 2, 3 or even 4 years of use, my phones physical condition are always, well, mint. So having a very thin strip of addressable LEDs all around the front screen (it IS possible to do), or, if not all around the screen 'L' shape on each corner COULD VERY WELL be used in the same manner - Count down timer, notifications, Uber arrival time, Charging % status and many more manufacturer/software developer ideas abound! PLUS, for those (I don't), that do a lot of selfies/front camera video recording, it could be also used for a ring lighting for videos!
So COME ON NOTHING! PLEASE think about it! There are a lot of us out here that WOULD LOVE a feature like this! Especially for the masses out there that DO put cases on their phones and don't like laying their phones face down, and want a SIMPLE solution to lighting whilst takingselfies/videos etc!
🤞 I HOPE Nothing DOES this in a future version like the Nothing Phone 3 or 4 etc! 🤞

The glyphs are cool and it serves as a reminder of the long lost notification lights that use to adorn most Android phones. I guess phone makers realized that having people looks at their phones more often was to their advantage but it used to be nice to see a green flashing light for a new SMS, a red flashing light because a call was missed etc.

I love these phones' aesthetics. While I'm all aboard the foldable bandwagon, this would be an easy pick if I ever went back to slab phones. I'm so tired of technology that follows the Apple model of being sleek, friendly, and looking as little like technology as possible. Something like this that is so unabashedly technological? It's the sort of aesthetic design that I love. And I hope we can see more like it.

I personally think the Ultra Zoom and SPens are never _too much_ . I travelled the east coast of Australia and found the 10x optical zoom (and 30x hybrid) of the S23 Ultra amazing.
Most wildlife photographers agree that 10x - 30x zoom is the most optimal zoom for wildlife and nature photography.
When you're starting at 10x optical zoom on a phone when you don't have your DSLR with you, you can take some incredible shots that are otherwise impossible on a phone without it!...to the point that iPhone users were asking us to take a lot of their shots in some of our groups. The SPen made editing those amazing photos easy on the go as well!

Looks flashy and cool. Great SoC and not very competitive pricing imo. In Europe we have option of phones with 8+G1 and cheaper while in Asia they probably have 5 times more of the options. So yeah... except for weird iphone looks it has little offer. But I'm surprised that Uber does work with that glyph(has some contacts)- but I have all the doubts any1 else gonna jump on it-too niche to waste time imo.

fun fact i contacted car pei on dm back in 2014 i showed him a phone design i had been working on i called symetium it was the first design it had a white light on the back but a metal back, the light was a way to replace those ugly antenna lines, he actually liked my design and told me not to give up so i keep wondering if i inspired the nothing phone as crazy as that sounds.

Thnx for highlighting the fun parts of the phone! If I wasn't really such a camera snob I would've bought it.
Since the processor is good enough for me, I would've slapped on a peltier cooler for my occasional gaming needs and he done wid it.

Every time I walk past the Nothing store in London's Soho, I want to buy everything from there. I think it's the nostalgia from the late 90s/early 00s transparent tech phase.
Give it another generation or two when I'm due to upgrade from my current iPhone 12 Pro Max and I can see this being the phone that draws me back to Android.

Ah, Nothing. I think if they had come around before foldables were fully established, I think it would have been more of a splash for the industry as a whole. The Nothing Phone 1 was already a delightful design and the 2 really fleshes it out a bit more, although the “interface” in Glyph Interface is arguably lacking. But it’s nice that the software design is more defined this time around. I hope one day Nothing can afford to make a foldable. But even your candy bar phone reviews are a joy.

    Nice review, thank you.
For me I have gotten so bored with the same old same old of current metal and glass soulless slabs I am really looking hard at the Nothing 2.
I grew up when manufacturers actually competed to make phones look unique and fun. And yes, I have owned almost every phone in your 'When phones were fun' series.
So I will probably pick up one of the phones just for fun and uniqueness, who knows hopefully if enough sell perhaps it will kick off a trend (he a person can dream).
Oh and seeing you on Topsail Island was also a kickback to my younger days. I spent my entire summer vacations from the age of 6 to 19 either on Topsail or next door at Surf City (back in the 70's) and a couple of weeks in the late fall fishing of the numerous piers there at the time.

    😎🇬🇧
