Rich n the screen it shows the configuration is P90D...did you actually manage to load P100D config on it? Also. What software do you use to mod configurations on it? Does TESLA have software like fossil car that allow working with them via OBDII?

I was thinking, if the government of Canada, or my provincial government, were to decide to pass right-to-repair legislation, and Tesla, Apple, and other companies opposed it, you'd be the perfect person for them to get an expert opinion on the matter. Something this simple for Rich of the past would have taken days, and now that he's got the A-Team it takes a couple hours.
Literally Tesla's A-Team, before these guys left and Tesla had to hire their B-Team and... probably C-Team at this point.

I think it was mentioned in a recent video but I forgot, when they disable access to the superchargers, does high power charging still works on other brand charging stations or just slow home charging?

Yes plus not everyone needs supercharging, I certainly don't, in fact my solar panels could charge a car without me using power as I drive only short trips every few days.

Rich, we support your efforts. You are as much of a scientist as anyone building the Teslas. American innovation comes from modding. Tesla needs another manufacturer endorsed lane like Mustangs have Saleen, Rousch and other custom shops. This may come later once the market is saturated with plain vanilla electric cars.

That's not going to fit. Those were stretched Lotus cars. There simply isn't room for the battery pack and I doubt the motor would fit since those cars are not as wide as the Model S.

That first 2 minute montage was awesome
Instead of doing the swap in a perfectly working 75D he could have done it on another flood damaged Tesla. A 75D with Supercharger is still worth more than a P100D without Supercharger.

I am glad Electrified Garage is around! These cars have a lot of life and to "crush" them while there are reusable parts should be a crime! Also, Tesla should not be disabling supercharging if the vehicle was inspected... IMO

6:44 when you look at the battery from this side, you know it was designed to be hot-swappable. Too bad it's not practical in the real world as it sounds.
They actually had a hot swap station setup in California and actually demoed it working.
@@PercyBell That whole hot swap thing was deemed to be vaporware, something about getting ZEV credits. It was just a stage demo, nobody ever actually got a battery swap at a station. Pretty interesting.
Alex Fiehl yeah. I started to add that but opted to keep my reply short. There were about 200 public invitations sent to gauge interest but only 4-5 people do the $80 swap. This was when everyone got free supercharging. There really wasn’t a demand for it and the ZEV credit loophole was closed so it made no sense to move forward with it.
That motor hasn't been under water, you can't use it!
Thats what we teslafans call "water proofing" the engine.. Some other companies might think of it as a way to make sure moisture don't get into the engine but thats not how we roll..

You might consider using the battery removed from the car and applying it to a house as a power source in the event of a power failure instead of a power wall 2. I'm thinking it should power the house for several days and even better if the house has a Tesla solar roof.
Just thinking out loud.

Know the battery and connectors are completely different but can they be transferred. That would be insane if it possible!!

I'm a one-percenter, I definitely catch and appreciate your wit. I'm not too excited about a Tesla motor swap, I was hoping to see a true mod like you found a higher rateds industrial motor that could swap right in. I am excited to see your other electrifying vehicles, as that is the swap to do. The days of swapping a straight 6 for a V8 are limited, but creating an EV out of a VW Karmann Ghia is cool.

It would kill your efficiency bc the car uses the front motor, which is way more efficient, when cruising. Also I don’t think the battery can output that much power because the power output is controlled by the software
I think the acceleration is pretty much traction limited, because it stops from 60-0 only one tenth of a second quicker

Awesome guys!. We have a mid 2016 Model S P90DL. I asked the Tesla service centre if a 100KW pack can be installed, but they said there is a bump on the 100KW battery packs, so no upgrade is possible. Was this just Tesla BS ?

It was just Tesla BS, I have heard of damaged 90kwh packs that had been replaced with 100kwh packs officially by Tesla.
What would happen if you took it to Tesla for service and they detected that you switched it?
