This is exceptional instruction. As someone who watches a silly amount of golf vids I cannot believe the algorithm took this long to serve you up. Great stuff!

This works. I’m a 14 handicapper. Shot 82, 35 putts, 11 gir and my golf partners were amazed. We have 36 in our group that now have this video.
At the end of the round my buddies wanted this video. Our club of seniors watch your videos and are big fans. Still working on my corrupted files.

    Thank you Mr. Schwent…..
This was pure gold as instruction goes. I love the practicality of your directions. I feel that the release has been my greatest challenge! The thought to hold the lag has caused me to struggle with casting…. But this release instruction I picked up from an earlier video of yours where you touched on releasing the club, and after putting it into practice I am seeing proper shaft lean at impact for the first time!
I really appreciate the content your putting out, it is extremely appreciated!

Changing Patrick’s swing for going to steep it worked for me. I took me two days to get the correct feeling in my downswing. I gained about 20 yards on my driver , fairway woods and long irons.
After the round today my group of 16 players were amazed of not only the distance gain but the accuracy. I have sent your video to them and told them it is contrary to what they think they should try it.
Patrick I still have some corrupted files.

Haha Patrick here, I still have PLENTY of corrupted files, so you're in good company :)
Lucky we have Ed to help us debug them! Thanks for watching

My golf coach here in Iowa did the exact same thing to fix my steep backswing/downswing as well. It really worked! Shout out Ben at Airport!

I found this same exercise and feel while watching Erndog and his coach Zach try to learn the high draw/hook miss with the driver. I found that after throwing the hands like this at the top, I finally got in sequence after hitting nothing but pushes and slices. I think in popular golf media we are told to "lag" and have all this shaft lean and stuff because they assume we were already flipped and ahead of the ball. Half of the golfers struggling out there never get in front of the club in their sequencing-- we start out behind and all the lag-for-distance dogma makes it even worse for us.

Great comment from Patrick. It’s like finding the corrupt files in the database and deleting them. I’ve been playing golf over 60 years, several different teachers and have developed bad habits. My swing is similar to Patrick’s so I’m going to try this fix.

Quick question-I love your your flashlight tool however it seems to encourage a steep backswing path unless I missed something I take the light all the way down the line to my right. When should the light come off the line and swing around your body? Thanks for such great instruction.

‘Letting the body/mind catch up’ seems like a light bulb for me , possibly….a lil while back i was really concentrating on stopping the flip at impact(which stopping the slice was the hope) so i concentrated on flattening wrist or even bowing it … after a few swings it worked incredibly well …for awhile at least… i wasnt paying attention to plane or path to much and now think i was getting to far one waY then the other (steep / shallow) causing crazy ball flight back and forth …so i decided mid round to try and concentrate on getting the club head (mostly with driver) to the ball first .which helped , again only briefly lol.. next round i was slicing again and had to bag the woods ….fricken driver is like kryptonite for me most times 😂, now i know to get that path to the right consistently and i wont worry too mucH about the ball flight till i have this ingrained ..then hopefully the flat/ bowed wrist will bring back that brief period of straightish drives that had some distance again ..🤞🏻🤞🏻✌️tomorrow morning is a range day

Can you do a video on the transition in reference to squatting down and or hip bumping/ rotating or lateral shifting?

Maybe I missed something but seems to be stopping at impact
    Maybe hitting half shots?
I know when I hit something fat or toe it I usually gave up on the shot
    Thanks

Can you please tell me about club face alignment? I am wondering about aiming the club face. The address position appears to be closed to the club path but square from a hitting position.

One of our next videos is going to cover squaring the club face on the downswing!

Once he tried coming more from the inside out path, his AoA was too shallow due to him not shifting his weight forward (ie. more rotational and no lateral). If only he can shift pressure by just 4~6 inches towards target, his AoA would have been much steeper. Now he is releasing the club and even hitting Up with AoA at +3! There is no way he can get shaft lean and have his hands in front of his Left Thigh since he has not shifted Left first then Rotate his Hips backwards. The solution is simple - simply move forward target wise whilst lowering his arms for a more inside-out Path while maintaining his negative AoA.

I've been trying this for the past couple of weeks, I feel as if I'm starting my downswing sooner. at least that's a feeling I have, and I heard Nichlaus say "you can't start the down swing too early," or something like that. This feels like what you're saying, it almost looks as you're "casting", but from the top. It definitely helps with better contact. Good video Sensei.

Ed, how does coming down under the plane be consistent with the club shaft pointing at the target line? Doesn’t it make the shaft point beyond the target line?

    • @edschwent1630
      @edschwent1630 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I don’t won’t him under plane I wanted Patrick under where he was. So pointing at the target line IS the goal

It seems like instructors miss the boat on explaining how to swing. Doesn't the club drop in to a "slot" on the downswing because the pro's squat and then extend the lead leg. They aren't consciously "dropping" the club down. It is a result of good movement, not the cause of it. We draw lines on our videos and try to hit all the positions trying to help what should be natural. Somehow our bodies know what to do when we throw a ball, use a bat or a tennis racket, but no one can explain how to do this with a golf club.

I disagree with your premise. Anyone can hit a ball decently far sub-optimally, but it takes training to maximize your efficiency. It’s the same with throwing a baseball, lots of people can throw 40 mph sub-optimally but very few people can throw 75+ mph without coaching and good form

I love your videos! I made the flashlight training tool to help with swing path. I've found that I can follow the target line even if my swing path is more vertical using that tool. My iron shots at the course are more accurate and efficient when I'm more vertical. My miss is usually left and sometimes chunky. I'm pretty sure I'm coming over the top, but is it okay to be more vertical on the backswing if I can shallow the downswing under the "noodle" on the way down?? I know that sounds like a Furyk swing. I'm guessing that 's why I'm so inconsistent with my irons?? Thanks Sensi!
