Michter's rye is a personal favorite. The price is a touch steep, but it's so tasty, is a great rye for beginners or non-rye fans, and makes a delicious cocktail.
I found my first Michters bottle. It was one bottle only on the shelf and it was the small batch. As an intro to Michters I absolutely love it. I will continue to expand my collection with Michters products every chance I get on finding these gems!
I've wanted you to compare Michter's bottles for so long. I have the Small Batch, American, Shenk's and Sour Mash and love them all. I'm happy with each pour of these bottles. Thank you for this video!!! I had my own tasting with you as I watched!
Oh I am such a fan of Michter’s… Tried everyone one I’ve been able to fine. So far my favorite is the Toasted Barrel Rye, incredible stuff. Cheers from Sweden! 🇸🇪
I have always loved bourbon, now financially I can afford to try more out. Your channel has been very helpful in putting together my wish list. Thanks for your insights, looking forward to trying some Michters.
Just opened a bottle of the sour mash tonight. I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I’ve had the American one before, but this one caught my eye. Glad I gave it a shot. Great breakdown. Looks like I have more to try from this distillery.
So how was it? Never had it but in I'm starting to think it might be my ultimate Michter's bottle, after getting into Michter's Rye and finding out how amazing it is.
Yes, you should be drinking Michters! My wife's entry to boubon. She used to watch your videos with me all the time and she called you "the Michter's guy". I haven't been able to find Michter's toasted, Michter's 10 year and I haven't bought Michter's Rye but it's on my radar as I've just really started enjoying ryes.
I bet the M10 would have done way better if everything was bourbon. I love oaky bourbons, but they do stick out like a sore thumb when you drink something sweeter right before.
Well, here we go again, David's beloved Michter's 10 once again glaringly underperforms in a blind. Tsk! One consolation is, at least it was beat out by its brethren, and not by a Woodenville! I have complete confidence the forlorn bottle will open up with some time and survive to endure once again another blind tasting because we've all learned David is resolved to never give up on his Michter's 10, no matter what!
I haven't tried any Michters yet. I'm visiting the distillery next month for a tasting and tour hoping to find a bottle that I love. I wonder if the gift shop will have any of the allocated bottles.
I would be great to see a Michter’s Rye showdown! Regular Rye, 10yr, barrel strength rye, and toasted rye. It would be great to hear your opinion on the nuances. Great video!
@@WhiskeyRow I am still hunting the toasted Rye, but I have the other 3. A Michter's Rye showdown would be really cool to see. Thanks for the response!
don't get me wrong. michters is not bad, but these traits typically have me picking something else: 1. its all sourced (or the vast majority). their own juice is super young. 2. its low proof. 3. no age statements on "available" products . 4. kind of expensive for something that is 1-3.
So does it bother anyone that the 10yr Rye is sourced? I live in Louisville and recently picked up a couple bottles of the 10yr rye at the distillery. It’s still fun to collect, but I wish they made it themselves.
Not related to todays video, I can’t help notice the barrell craft gray label on the top shelf. Did you open or review it yet? Which batch is it? I’ve been eyeing one locally, and am curious if it’s worth the price. I have the normal batch 28 and 29 i really enjoy. Cheers thx
Have you considered that pouring the M10B into the jigger affects the taste? I bet when you're simply enjoying a pour not on video, you don't use the jigger.
Man, you just have to stop putting Michters 10 in blinds. Fails EVERY time. Today wasn't really fair with a neck pour but still... Jaime now has yet another one to harass you about ! Michters has always been an 'ok' for the money product for me, but I have never been able to sample any of your top 5 today so ?? Didn't know about the Shenks or Bombergers at all, so appreciate that insight!
I started working at a big box liquor store a few months ago and had the opportunity to grab a Michter’s 10 for $115 w my discount, so upset I didn’t know what it was at the time!
Love me some Michters too and was hyped for that 10 yr right up until the point I tried it. I’ve had a few pours of others since then and it’s constantly underwhelming. Sometimes you gotta just call it what it is…overhyped. Lchaim!
What barrel is your Michter's 10 bourbon? I have 21H2279 and it was a bummer when uncorked and the following couple weeks after. Now it's been a month and it's just now starting to turn a corner towards better sips. Maybe do this again on Groundhogs Day with the same lineup? 😂
I know it's not the same, but I randomly got a not-as-good-as-usual Michter's single barrel Rye. Hoping I can just put it in the closet for 2-3 months and find something better.
Overpriced & overrated IMO so not the greatest value. I'll skip it 99.9% of the time for a better value whiskey or local pick that I can usually get a cask strength for the same 50 bucks.

Michter's is always my go too. Bourbon or Rye is delicious, Sour Mash is pretty good, the American Whiskey is decent for the price.
Michters is my favorite! I could toss all others and just keep Michters and be fine! It’s outstanding!!
If only David's promise about Michter's 10 aged as well as his first place pick. Great content as always David. Enjoyed it. Cheers!
All the regular bottles are good. Rye is one of the best at that price and American is so crushable.
Great video review! I really like the sour mash and the American whiskey!

Great episode as usual David. Huge fan of Mitchers! Knowing the history of your channel, it’s hard to smile when you revealed 5th place.
Michters is good stuff. Ive got 3 of the us-1 bottles.
Just got a Michters toasted barrel barrel strength rye today. Can’t wait to try it. I like their American Whiskey.
Roscoe let us know how it is!
So how was it? Never had it but in I'm starting to think it might be my ultimate Michter's bottle, after getting into Michter's Rye and finding out how amazing it is.
@@Jbroker404 It is excellent probably my favorite Rye I’ve had so far.
It's okay, David. We're laughing With you!! In Upstate NY Shenks is $80, Michter's 10 is $250.
Never been a fan of m10 bourbon. So I’m not surprised by this.
Tried my first Michters two weeks back I tried Small Batch one I loved it got it at restaurant called Whiskey Biscuit here in Colorado 👍🏻🥃

The rye will change your life it’s extremely good!
Cask strength rye is the only Michters I've ever liked
I love that Michters rye in Manhattans
Great review.
I'm at the 9:30 mark . David is about to be disappointed again ......
Where does the toasted barrel rate among the options?
David have you had the toasted Bartell?
And the winner...Dickel Tobasco.😁
Buddy, it's the best
I have the standard Michter's rye. It's got a decent amount of flavor for an 84 proofer.
I bet the M10 would have done way better if everything was bourbon. I love oaky bourbons, but they do stick out like a sore thumb when you drink something sweeter right before.
I got the small batch and the rye the other day. Allocated in my state, so i figured I’d get one of each. Still need to try them
Yo…!!! This video was posted on my birthday!! Guess I’ll grab a bottle of Mitchers today. I’ll update on which one I picked up.
I have the sour mash and enjoying expensive in Japan at ¥ 7500
Always on the lookout for any of the Michters beyond the standard ones. All we get in pa are the standard the allocated ones are really hard to snag

You need to try the 25 year rye
Great video. I was able to get a 10 year at msrp this year but really wanted to find a 10 year rye. Hopefully I can stumble across one.
Just got me a Michter’s 10yr Single Barrel. Cannot wait to try it, then put it up against my Michter’s 10yr rye and Toasted Barrel
Nice, let me know how those rank out!
@@WhiskeyRow 10yr rye, 10yr bourbon, toasted barrel. I was really pulling for the 10yr bourbon but that rye is a smooth, flavorful treat
Cool, I'm taking a Michters 10 rye to a tasting with some real pros.

Yep the rye was the best
Wooo
Gotta get a toasted in that blind
The Michter's American is the only one in my state and not tested in this video?

That looks like the 15 year that I have at my store. And if it is its not a cheap one.
It's weird how some whiskies do worse in a blind. I noticed that with Laphroaig.
👍

Would be nice if you showed a close-up of the bottles, so we know what the heck you're talking about.
The sour mash does not seem like a rye at all more like a sweet bourbon and seems 51 % corn to me
1st
Where is the US 1
How does this compare to jack daniels?
Michter’s is good but overpriced in my opinion… at least here in italy also their basic bottles are 50/60€
You don’t have the regular barrel strength…. Definitely should be hunting that one over them all.
Yeah Michters 10 year is not that good, I think I traded mine for Midwinter.
Don’t beat yourself up, it’s a neck pour.
The 10 yr. single barrel bourbon is one of the most overrated bourbons one can seek out; right after nearly everything from Buffalo Trace.
Why do you keep talking about how great the 10 year bourbon is, yet it continues to finish last in blinds..

i hate to ask...but ...are you paid to taste these products...i hope the answer is no ?
