Wow!! You’ve opened up a whole world for me. I too found little to none on how to be creative with color on a sectional and not just have every section be a repeat. You are a fabulous teacher. Extremely clear and concise instructions. Thank you SOOOOO much. !!!

I love the "wool on my shoulder" moment at the beginning, so appropriate for our community. The random stripes are brilliant! I feel like because they are all the same colors just a different order it makes it interesting but keeps it from feeling chaotic. Looking forward to seeing them finished!!!

I love your stripes. I don’t think there is a weaver out there who hasn’t forgotten to go over the back beam. You’ve inspired me to get back to my loom, it even has a warp on it, friendship towels. I love making tea towels too.

Thanks so much for this video! None of my looms have a sectional beam, but I am less intimidated about eventually getting one. I saw that back beam issue and said “oh no” out loud. Been there, done that but mine was at a workshop in my early days with a bunch of highly experienced weavers and no one noticed until threading was done. Glad that John was able to resolve it as quickly as it was resolved for me!

Warping a loom just takes so much brainpower it's going to forever be the step that stalls me from getting any weaving done, so I definitely would also warp dozens of meters of warp if I could.

    • @FiberLoveDiary
      @FiberLoveDiary  ปีที่แล้ว +3

I totally get it. I didn't want to use up all that space either for a bobbin rack. You do have to practice setting up the fishing line counter to get it just right to count it, but it does work. I'm sure it's not exact, but they're very close so I think it still helps with waste compared to just throwing it on bobbins.

Thanks for this lovely video. I have yet to attach my sectional beam kit to my loom but having watched your video I can't wait! I won't be winding lots of bobbins as you have done but will wind 1" wide warps on my warping mill and wind them on to the loom in order. It was good to see how you attached the warp to the string on the beam and took care where the knot landed so as not to mess up the warp.

Finally! someone else with a sectional beam that is 2" ! Every video I"ve ever seen shows looms with 1" sections, and considering how many problems I"ve had warping it, it seemed easier to me to have smaller amounts to do at a time. My loom sort of "came" to me; it is a Norwood loom and it is quite lovely cherry wood. But I have often wished for two other stooges to join me when I'm trying to do it because it's hard to be a stooge all by yourself! I have a hard time keeping the threads in order in each section because they turn over themselves as they roll on. Thanks to you, I have some really good ideas from how you did it that will help me next time. Although I have tried taping before, I think I"ll use a lot more and put the color changes in the middle. (My color changes so far have always been random whether I liked it or not). Thank you so much for this video. And maybe I can find a fishing line counter, because I don't have any way at this point to know how much is on my bobbins....I do a lot of guessing....alas. paula (I live in jerusalem, israel, and equipment to go with sectional beam looms is pretty hard to find)

I have always wanted to become a weaver but never had the space nor the money so i live vicariously thru weavers, the closest thing i have come to weaving is doing little wall hangings like friendship bracelets lol. Saw you in my feed and instantly subscribed and love watching you. Love it when hubbies help out and encourage

Wonderful video. I followed all your numbers! I got a floor loom free when someone tried to move it and broke one of the sectional warp supports. A couple of screws...good as new! I've been researching sectional warping, and you are right: there is very little out there about the actual process. I appreciated your MacGyvering solutions, and I'll make my own peg board rack! I've got the drill bit, bobbins, and yarn, but I couldn't figure out how to put it all together through the tension box and then move it along. So, again, thank you for sharing your journey.

Thank you for this! Excellent info for multiple color warp on a sectional beam. I’ve only ever used 1 color. My brain was hurting trying to determine the best way to approach this.

I don’t have a sectional warp beam, but I still love to watch and learn about alllll the things. When I first saw the warp not going over the warp beam I thought “uh oh!”, I’m glad it was an easy fix.

Yep, I can't problem solve when my brain is saying, you have to retread 480 heddles 🤪🤪

Thank you SO much for addressing the sectional warp! I have been wanting to warp for towels but am so intimated (I’ve been weaving rugs for a year and a half with the warp - all white- that came on my loom!!!) I am still so paralyzed on how much I need to buy to tackle this though 😅 but I appreciate your tips on how to use the bobbins! At first I thought I’d need to buy 40 spools or yarn or something 😮 $$$$ 😢

You can do it. If I feel like it's overwhelming, I'll just set a goal for myself to wind maybe 5 bobbins or wind them for 15 or 30 minutes. Then I stop and go do something else. It builds my confidence for stuff like this to see progress

My loom is currently in storage (with a project on it) as I don't have space for it in my current home. Moving this summer and this makes me so excited to get back to weaving!!!!

Hi Trish! I am watching this as I eat breakfast before I get ready for work. Thank you for this. It made sense. Looks great. One question - where do you find the time, energy, and motivation? I have a friend who says “Whatever drugs she’s on, I want them.” That’s how I feel when I watch you.

Gorgeous! I love the colors. I did have that moment of panic with you, but simple solutions make it all better! I'm using up the warp that the previous owner had put on my 2 heddle loom, so I haven't had to wind more warp... I'm not looking forward to it.

This is exciting! I bought a loom with a sectional warping thingy last fall and I'm planning to clean it and set it up this summer. I've also been looking for info about sectional warping and coming up with zilch! Holy crap is that gorgeous! I guess I'm going to need to buy one of those tensioning boxes. I'm pretty sure my loom didn't come with one. There is a box that is insanely dusty… better be brave and check it!
