    Hi, using your explanation ABCD could also be a square. The way I did it was to prove triangle AED and CEB are congruent, and DEC and AEB are congruent (via vertically opposite angles at intersection being equal, AE = EC, and 45 degree at base of any of the 4 triangles) ASA rule. Therefore by opposite traingles being congruent, DA = CB and AB = DC, and since the angles at intersection are not equal (only opposite pairs are) AB or DC is NOT equal to DA or CB and vice versa. Thus it is definitely a rectangle.

      Yes you are exactly right, but the cool thing is a square is also a rectangle! So we don’t have to prove it is not a square

      But in a rectangle the perpendicular sides are not equal whereas in a square they are. And thanks for the like, appreciate it!

      It is usually stated that “a square is a special kind of rectangle”.

      Ah, I see how that could work as well. Anyways maybe just more concrete proof or an alternate way to solve it. Thank you for the video.

      Yes thank you for sharing :) It is great when people share their methods for solving problems

    It says that it is not accurately drawn. There is a specific case, when the two circles are equal. If they are, ABCD is a square. It is easy to prove (if anyone reads this and doesn't know how, try a coordinate system with DB lying on the x axis and AC on the y axis and draw the circles...you're gonna see). Personally, I think that a square is totally different from a square, but I agree that they have many common things. It is so bad when a question asks you a specific thing, and you need to answer only that, even though you could say much more about it. It is as if like they are trying to hold you back from doing what you like, and make you like what you hate in some cases. I hope A levels are gonna be much more enjoyable than GCSE's, even if they seem harder.

      Thank you for your comment, you make some great points. The question does say one is “a smaller circle” which does allow us to prove it is in fact a rectangle. See Vishal’s comment for an alternative method. Also, I hope you will find A-levels have more interesting content than GCSEs eg calculus, complex numbers, hyperbolic functions.

      Thank you, I didnt read that bit. (Though in some cases the difference could be infinitessimally small, which is ignorable.)I'm actually doing fsmq as well, and it is waaaay better than gcse's.

    Would you mind me sending a question that I encountered on a maths paper I tried doing it, I tried everything but I just can’t even understand how you do it? It’s a 5marker from a Churchill paper the last question on it.

    Hello sir, another great video - thankyou once again. It would help a lot if you can go through functions, mainly composite functions, it always leaves me perplexed :P.

    Can you go over finding the angle between two planes/ a line and a plane?

    • @mathonify
      @mathonify  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure. That’s further maths right?

    • @alexrobinson2388
      @alexrobinson2388 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that the angle between a line and a plane is on both, and that the angle between two planes is just further maths.

      I'm not entirely sure when they were published but they are all written by edexcel for the GCSE (9-1) specification. Great revision material

      Hopefully paper 1 this week. I realise it's getting late in terms of revision time, and unfortunately if it's not this week then it may not be worthwhile.
