  • If you’re not paying attention to the insane car builds that are taking part in Hot Rod Drag Week, you’re really missing out. Yes, even if you’re not into drag racing. A 3000+ horsepower Chevy that runs 6s in the quarter at over 200mph… AND gets 12 miles per gallon? Yeah, that’s wild. Check out a quintessential Drag Week build: the Creamsicle by Joe Barry Motorsports.

Check out wind tunnel videos and NASCAR wind tunnel videos. The original purpose for the rear wing is down force above a certain speed. That all comes down to the car's size and weight and power and math and math and psychosis. The general theory is the higher up the wing sits the more down force it makes but you make drag that slows you down. I am no expert, just watched a lot of nascar in the remote past. However it is a cool look.

Dude - the early-mid 2000s, when EFI tuning really started to become viable(I.E., just plug in a computer, didn't have to get chips burned anymore!), we started to see 1000HP Supras on the street and the '03/'04 Cobras came out and were boosted up to 1000HP, and we got to watch some wars "down in Mexico"...
GOOD TIMES! Those were the first 4-digit god tier street cars(along with the usual old school street/strip cars), things really started changing at that point.
It's unbelievable how much EFI has evolved - whether factory ECU tuning or today's absolutely dirt cheap race-ready standalone ECUs(I'm a Haltech fanboy - but there's a Fox body in the garage with a Holley Terminator X that only cost ~$1000 and can handle any basic big HP power adder engine), it's a different game today, modern ECUs(and gigantic fuel injectors) can LITERALLY make a 4000HP Pro Mod engine perfectly streetable. Frankly, it's so unbelievable that I think a lot of people are jaded by this stuff today.

At first glance, it looks like it, but my first car was a '56 Chevy (I had the Belair, this is a 210). This dash is shaped similar, but is not the original. It has the glove box and ash tray in the original positions, but there is no radio and no hump on the passenger side and no clock. I like to see when the owners leave the original dash in the '55-57 Chevy's that have been modded, but they might have been thinking about weight in this case.

My neighbors brother has the same car w/ the same paint scheme as this car. Original drive train though. Still a beauty.

the way I remember Joe Barry the most... steel panels. Seems they all veered off since drag week began. Joe Barry stays more true with some street car specs. Great episode.

When younger i had a 74 Vega GT, I ran a 510 Blown with a 8"71. It was a street legal drag car. Funnest car i ever had. I miss it and would have been a good drag week car. For rear tires i used Micky super wides
