As a Dolphin fan who is a film breakdown junkie, I’ve seen just about every one on TH-cam this year. Can say with certainty this is the best one. So insightful, backing up the tape with the stats, and giving us fans a glimpse into what we could never know just watching plays in real time. Fantastic. Hopefully we’ll get some more later in the year!

I love that Tua seems to finally have been given a chance to use his talent. He throws the ball when there's no separation but once the ball arrives everyone seems wide open!

I've watched a lot of Miami game analysis. This is one of the best I've seen. Love hearing McCown's analysis. As a former player his knowledge is so much more informative than talking heads who didn't watch games and go off on stats which hardly paints an accurate picture. I like how McCown provides players' perspectives which fan can't see at game speed.

Dan Orlanski has also been doing a great job breaking down Tua & McDaniels Schemes. Also, Kurt Warner doing Kurt's Corner early in the season & I've seen Brian Baldinger do some great limited breakdowns as well.
But, this was the most indepth 1 yet.
Great job Josh, I'd like to see more of the Cleveland game, because I think it's setting up to be a more balanced offense since acquiring Wilson Jr. Who understands McDaniels zone blocking scheme better than Chase did & is a much better inside runner than Moesart who relies more on his speed. Where Wilson has better vision.
As if LB'ers already weren't pulling their hair out. But, to now worry about running game, which will also effect the safeties on Playaction. But, as important, we have cold weather games down the stretch where running is gonna be key.
I'm curious to see what more McDaniels stacks on top of what hes shown on film thus far, to fool defenses even more & keep this train moving at lightning speed

Coming from South America, at first I thought football was just a bunch of big guys hitting themselves on a field. Watching these films breakdowns I now understand how much strategy is involved in this game. Love this videos and love what my Dolphins are doing.

Really good breakdown. So much fun being a Dolphins fan 💯 We have been waiting two decades for another explosive offense in Miami! And what's clear is this Mcdaniel offense is just getting started and Tua has a lot of growth and improvement still to find and show! This is becoming a special, special season for the Dolphins and us long suffering fans! 🤞 it continues 🙏🙏.

I very much enjoyed the breakdown. Its nice to hear a former QB explain things Tua is doing that for most QBs just don't make sense. I get Tua isn't that guy thats going to lay it out there 70+ yds but in reality how often do the few QBs that can really do it & complete them? I'd much rather have a QB like Tua that can & will make the throws that other QBs won't because they just don't see things the same or just can't put the ball where it only gives the receiver a chance to make the play. You can say he has alot of talent around him but you also have to acknowledge he has a rare ability to use that talent to the full extent. Its like the perfect offensive scheme & offensive mind running it with the perfect group of players to fit it & the perfect QB to execute it.

Well I'm an old fart and this is by far the most excited I've been this late into a seasonal since before Dave Wandstat forced Marino to retire. Even when Pennington took us to the playoffs it was like yeah ok 1 and done. This season is special. Tua and coach Mike are made for each other. And it is a beautiful thing to watch. Even though I have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure I'm not dreaming 🙃

Your first comment is what I was just saying about Tua and have seen from his first days at Alabama - he has some kind of spatial recognition that is off the charts. When you combine that with his accuracy and quick release, he can throw the ball to where a receiver is going to be or where he wants to take him before he's out of a break. And he can glance at a defender and know whether he can or can't get there.

I love ❤love ❤ the fact that Josh is given Tua props. Saying. Wow I was not able to do that as fast as Tua. Cause Josh had a great arm. QB is more than just arm strength. And yes Tua doesn’t have the strongest arm. But he has touch and can process fast. Just hope he can stay healthy. Learn to throw the ball away.

I keep hearing all these analysts saying that all these other QBs could do what Tua does...but theyre not doing it! Like Josh said, what he does is as special a skill as running a 4.2 The history of the NFL is littered with the bodies of big armed QBs that could sling it 60yards in the air but couldnt win games. ESPN highlights dont necessarily win games. And isnt that the point? You.play.to.win.the.game. Great stuff guys!

The 1st clip vs lions Josh is absolutely correct on the Qb/Wr reading the coverage. Go back to tyreek 1 hand catch vs Pats. Tua read it one way tyreek read it another so the pass from Tua looked bad. But listening to Josh explain made me realize that. So Tua n tyreek are starting to develop a really good chemistry. It’s only going to get better with more game played together

Just wrote and lost (when my battery died) a long detailed question about my theory of Tua’s long ball shortcomings that I do not want to even try to repeat. GD it. In a nutshell, really enjoyed the material and how you guys work together. So my question for McCown was this: I believe Tua’s absence of a baseball background kept him from learning and understanding the added power that can be added into a throw by taking the two steps forward, pulling your energy down and back while gliding,, gathering aligning, torquing, hitting your feet and then springing that energy up from the legs through the core, releasing that torque and firing up through the aligned shoulders and then letting the shoulder take the energy through the arm, hand and then fingers, ending in that long beautiful line from big toe to tip of index finger. In fact, when you watch him throw deep have you ever seen him finish with a follow through of any refinement? This is what I believe I want to know if you see it the same.
I think Tua has a stunted understanding of throwing dynamics, like those of a catcher throwing to catch a runner stealing second, a Centerfielder trying to catch a runner trying to score from second on a base hit or a Havelin thrower on each and every throw. I understand they are not the same but the dynamics certainly crossover. John Elway and Tom Brady are shining examples of this. So, do you think that the crossover dynamics of throwing a baseball or a rock for distance that Tua lacks or chooses not to utilize is because the method he has developed from only throwing a football from the pocket or rolling laterally can not co-exist because the operations run completely counter to one another each with completely different arm and body angles as well as leverage points. Watch all of Tua’s deep passes. Then watch this th-cam.com/users/shortsVET3d4plUHY?feature=share and tell me he doesn’t have a ton of room to improve. I’d start by taking one and two hoppers from Center field and throwing out runners trying to score from 2nd. Long ball 101. He’s mastered the rest.

@32:15 Don't worry, I'm probably one of the biggest Tua defenders when haters talk crap and even I notice that he could be better with the throws downfield with Tyreek. It's not an arm strength though, it's simply a timing issue and getting used to Tyreek Hill's speed and acceleration.
I mentioned that in a group one time and other Tua fans tried to silence me. I'm a fan of Tua but I'm also a realistic and objective person. That being said, I'm estatic with all I've been seeing from Tua and know he'll work on those deep plays to Hill. As far as everything else, he's been killing it!

Play the pass first, always move back till you know its a run.. may they get more yards running, sure, but there is also the chance that the front defensive line can close holes as well and put pressure to stop the run.. front line first job, stop the run, LB and DB, stop the pass first.. and Tyrek Hill, double cover, switching who has the deep cover and who has the under cover between the CB and the S.. and on this play, they were in a zone defense, which his why Hill is so open on this play action.. hold the LB to play the run, and with Hills speed, you can easily have him do an in route and be wide open.. the problem was, when he goes in motion and both wr's are to one side, you have to also follow him with the CB from that side as well..

Niners should have made McDaniel the head coach. Too late now. Just to think fins fans didn't want him, just made fun of him.

Looks like they have a problem with power rush and physical defensive lines similar to last year when Titans broke their run for a wildcard.
They arent alone tho everyone does especially this year. 49ers game will be a good late season thermomenter to see if theyve figured some solutions to deal with that.

my best guess would to use safeties as more a like line backers... act like their playing deep but then just spy hill and waddle. and have cbs play deep like on the first play.... but yeah there are probably issues with that but at least maybe you can get an int from a safety

Tua is still adjusting to where Tyreek will be at a given time. On occasion he has nailed it with others like Sherfield and Waddle. So we know he can do it its on tape in college and the NFL this season. As yall keep stating he is not throwing to the player he is throwing to a spot. He is guaging where he thinks Reek will be by the time the ball arrives then he throws it there. Just so happens Reek is do fast that you often can throw the ball here but reek is already on pace to be pass that point. So it results in an "underthrow" or an "overthrow" and yes Tua has overthrow reek on deep balls it is often directly after he "underthrows" him. Which makes it obvious its not an arm issue its a "this dood blew right pass where i expected him to be" issue. Idk if he gets it down this year may take till next year for him to properly guage. I do know this tho Tua played with 2 QBs and even P. Mahomes had issues guaging #10s speed and where he was goingvto be and Mahomes is the opposite of Tua. He actually waits to confirm you are open before pitching the ball. So he is actually throwing to the reciever and was still missing Tyreek with underthrows and overthrows. Tua doesnt have to do anything but adjustvto Tyreek at his own pace. The last thing miami needs is him yrying to prove something we already know and forcing balls down field causing turnovers.

I have been feeling the same way - it just makes sense.... I feel that part of it is that Tyreek doesn't run at a 'consistent' speed - his 'fast' make defenders feel he's at top-speed, but at some point he drops a gear for a moment and accelerates so fast I can't think how hard that must be to judge. I don't know how much control Tyreek has of that because I feel he's reading the defender to decide When he hits it.
