3:12 As a person who isn't knowledgeable about computer software at all, these types of menus always freak me out because it feels so easy to fuck something important up and turn your device into a paperweight.
Nah this has been around for a while, you can even revert your BRICKED PSP now if you accidentally did something wrong. That's why I release guides about this so those that actually want to learn how to do it can follow along, pause, then follow again.
burning a disc with IMGBurn. That takes me back. Burnermax payload for overturning DVD-R dual layer dvds for my xbox 360 backups I flashe with jungleflasher. Had to build a tool to grab my DVD key via the serial port on my PC, because out of all the DVD drive in the 360s I HAD to have the one that needed extra work. Also backing up my DVDs with DVD Decrypter.
I'd always wondered how the folks at [place where I downloaded my PSX BIOS] had gotten it off of the system. I didn't realize it was quite so intensive of a process. You made it look simple and I'm pretty sure I could/can easily follow along at home. Relatedly; this is why I don't feel entirely comfortable about using ad blockers. People invested money and the necessary time to get these BIOS files off the system and then they shared it on the Internet for free. It feels kind of ungrateful to complain about having to check out a sudebar banner ad for powdered drink mix or something.
You forgot to mention that the PSX needs to be able to run backups, either by modchip, MC exploit or ODE. We can also use a normal MC to extract the BIOS but it will require a modded PS2 to extract the contents from the MC, and a serial cable can also be used if the PSX and the PC both have serial ports, but that's just making it more difficult than it needs to be. Just for the fun of it I'll try it with my xStation and my Airlabs MC that has 8x 1MB, transfer the 5 parts in one go, then extract the content with a modded PS2 just to check if I can get the same CRC of the same BIOS floating around the Internet 🙂
This is for the PlayStation it isn't modded or doesn't need to be modded for this to work. You also don't need a modded PS2 for this either. I showed what you need and can use alternatively, which is the PSX Memory Card. The PS2 method isn't required to do this anymore if you have that memory card which is what I did here. I've had this PS in my family since it was released we didn't do anything special to it so I'm not really sure what you're trying to say?
@@DNAMobileGaming I thought the CD you burned needed some kind of modded boot method, but I guess it uses some alternative method that tricks unmodded PSXs into booting it'? I get that you showed how to do it without any kind of mod, but you always need some kind of software mod or different hardware, in your case was the custom MC with MicroSD 🙂
@@wettuga2762 well no in my case I had to burn the software to a disc that was playable on the PSX so that we could do this. You could always play burned games for years that's why there was a big issue with image burn way way back in the day and finding the correct version of it was a pain. I remember doing this around 10 years ago as this method has been around for a long time EXCEPT you need a memory card dumper which cost over $100 to attach to your PC OR a hacked PS2 which I had at the time but bought the dumper instead but sold it.
@@DNAMobileGaming Ok thanks, I didn't know the PSX was able to boot burned CDs if using the correct burning method and media, mine was chipped since day one and still works fine after a quarter of a century and endless hours of gameplay. It's currently retired because I replaced it with an earlier model with xStation. I guess unmodded PSXs are a rarity these days 😉
According to the internet that's an error with your burner or the disc make sure nothing else is running the background perhaps too I just Googled this one because I've never had this error myself.
The pixelated text in that black screen... is like a time machine...

Thanks for the tutorial!

COOOOL!
I have two PS1's that are both dead and I haven't messed with them in years. I should pull them out and try to get them alive again.
This one has a lot of issues because it's been in the family since released. I should do a teardown clean.
Nice bios
Nice tut
Hi, I keep getting a Miscompare at LBA error when trying to write it to disc and I can't figure out how to fix it.

@@DNAMobileGaming Okay thank you for getting back. I will try it again and if the same thing happens. I will try a different disc or burner
Yellow names show up better.
