You're still chambering your kick! The difference is that you're not bouncing your knee up into it's high position and changing it's trajectory 90 degrees. It's travelling up into that position and not stopping, it begins turning slightly earlier and preserves it's momentum. The only reason you can execute it like that is decades of chambering it properly and now you have that mobility you can execute the kick much more fluidly maintaining momentum from pushing off of the floor. Saying that - I do love your videos mate please keep them coming!

Damn, I've never practiced side kicks and am only now noticing that I tend to throw it with my right leg, from a southpaw stance, rather than my normal "boxing" stance
35 years old I am and can not even speak English properly like Yoda but I always watching this video as ex-Taekwondo master I got 38 capped on my right leg 15 years ago I barely do 540 jump spinning kick. And I have backache that requires me to reinforce my back muscles otherwise I want be even able to have small jogging. I been watching you since I was 19 years old you look like 40 years old and your skills are still legendary that included real self defense and beauty. I wish I could be like you.
Always used to think the style of sidekicks I was taught in Taekwondo years back with the straightup, 90 deg chamber and then straight out were time wasting. This video clears it all up 👌
A year or so back, I had left a Tweet to my favourite Martial Artist - Scott Adkins, to give us some Coaching via TH-cam or Twitter videos and I am so happy that we are getting at , at this time.

Thanks for showing me that I've been doing my side kicks correctly all these years. No joke, it's the only kick I wish would be better so I work it harder and more often than my other kicks. Now I see I have nothing to worry about. And I'm 67 and skinny (also a 4th black in Kyokushin), so the less I have to worry about, the better.
Amazing how I’ve seen a few different ways of throwing the side kick. It truly comes down to the style of a artist. All variations I’ve seen can be devastating. I love martial arts!
As a no martial arts person, this has always been my favorite kick out there in martial arts. There is lot of depth with it and currently I'm trying improve on it. Much so that I made a challenge to hold the Side Kick for as long as I can for balance and leg control as my goal for it. I've been fan of yours for a while and watched most of your movies as Ninja 2 and Hard Target 2 are my favorites so far. Looking forward for more awesomeness and hope you can give this Side Kick challenge a try. Cheers and may you have a safe Summer ahead.
Great stuff Bro. If you can get an uneven surface to keep the stance it would greatly help as well. When my sensei introduced me to a jumping castle method I thought it was a waste, until his grandkids jumped me out of stance for weeks lol. But that is mostly if for when you are constantly moving and need to balance yourself when using more exotic techniques. But I hope you turn out to be successful in your martial arts walk. Enjoy :)

“ Emancipation through application”
“ Perfect practice makes perfect “
As mr Atkins clearly demonstrates, the pivot of the standing leg, in concordance with proper body alignment/ hand positioning, as well as the retracting of the kicking leg after completion are of the utmost essential importance, as units that completes the whole.
“ Fighting is relativity in motion, never expect only respond as it one’s opponent within context that dictates tactics”
Being multi-dexterous to the point that it doesn’t matter the context one may find oneself in, as “Advanced are basics/ fundamentals done correct” and as mr Atkins clearly demonstrates with such solid comprehension of the fundamentals, even hitting” less than perfect” even if one might ending up hitting with the entire surface of the foot( it has its drawbacks as mr Atkins mentioned) but on the plus side, since its cover a larger surface area, one’s foot are less likely to slide off.

” Opponent within context that dictates tactics” as there are no guarantees, only opportunities, missed or taken, and there are no such things as an easy fight, that is why it’s called fighting.
Also to note, that one’s attacker most likely will be untrained( not to say that he is not a threat) but one has to acknowledge the point that he most likely never experienced to the umpteenth extent what such an kick can do to the human body, so if someone with the talent of mr Atkins put intent and will to mind, and kick and hits with
“ only” the surface of the foot, and he connects with just 20 percent of overall kinetic force with which was demonstrated on the BOB, then the risk of fractured diaphragm/ sternum/ ruptured liver/ bruising of the intestines( even heart/ lungs) etc will most likely be the result depending on the impact/ surface area.
As the ability to perceive such an kick delivered with such mastery is hard to counter/ parry/ deflect even by trained individuals, then just picture how devastatingly effective in the correct context such an kick will be against someone who is not expecting it.

Amazing how I’ve seen a few different ways of throwing the side kick. It truly comes down to the style of a artist. All variations I’ve seen can be devastating. I love martial arts!
OMG I love Your sense of humor :D Thanks for those lessons You are giving me a lot of motivation!
please don't stop making these. your my idol, i wish i could train with you just once, that would make my life bro.
Enjoy :)
