Chapter 9: A Mistake (Joseph)
Joseph relates the worry his family was experiencing over Josiah being missing. To make matters worse, Joseph loses his job early in this chapter.
We want our kids to experience peace in this world. Many of us hear the word “peace” and assume it means a living in harmony with each other, or tranquility and a lack of fighting or war.
But when it comes to peace as mentioned in the Bible, it doesn’t mean there will be no disagreements, conflicts, or troubles. The truth is we live in an imperfect world. Until every knee bows and every tongue confesses the sovereignty of the Lord, true peace isn’t possible for the whole world (Philippians 2:10-11).
1. Read Philippians 4:6-7. Discuss with your child that life isn't always easy. Instill in them that God is a God of Peace. They can place their trust in Him because He is faithful.
2. Read 1 Samuel 16:1-13. This is the story of when Samuel met Jesse’s sons is told in In those days, kings didn’t get crowned, they were anointed as a sign that God had chosen him. Discuss with your child a time when you were anointed with oil.
