The confusion on Snow’s face when Lucy Gray calls him a rebel is so poignant and i’m really hoping Snow’s actor (have completely forgot his name, apologies) uses those beautiful and meaningful facial expressions to represent Show’s inner dialogue throughout the book
Yes that was Lucy Gray (Rachel) singing. Between the book, the cast and the feel of this trailer I think this could be a really good movie, best of the bunch. The trick, I think, will be to somehow convey the essence of Snow's internal dialog to the audience. If they succeed, the ending (for me) will be quite poignant. Rachel is perfectly cast as Lucy Gray Baird, 16 going on 35. . She sings some songs from the book which one of the movie producers describes: ' “Rachel often would opt not to do playback, and just sing it live. Often, after they would call cut, people would just go bananas clapping!” Those live on-set vocals will be included in the final product - and there’s one scene in particular that Jacobson’s especially excited for: “The big finale moment…un-fucking-believable. Her voice is jaw-dropping.” '' I am very much looking forward to the movie and will see it in the theater.
Ahhhh that is amazing!! I totally agree about the internal dialog thing - if we're going to be rooting for Snow at the beginning of the film, then we need to understand the thought process behind him becoming a villain and be able to enjoy that negative arc - or else it'll feel like his character is a letdown. I didn't know that about the live singing, I am SO excited to hear that!!
I wonder if they're not able to promote the movie more because of the current strikes. I'm very happy this movie is still coming out, but also very surprised there are no expected delays.
The significance of the white roses for snow growing up is all explained in the book, it wasn’t always just used to cover the smell of blood from being poisoned, that was later. Snows family grew the roses when he & Tigris were little.
I loved the trailer! I have a dilemma about reading the book - the trailers make me want to read it and I'd love to get the full full story. At the same time I looove being surprised at the cinema watching the movie, not knowing what's gonna happen (so without reading the book) and I don't know what to doooo :D
ohhh I can see what you mean - that's a tough one! I'm usually a fan of reading before the movie - and I usually find that there are still surprises in the movie that they'll throw in there, but it could be a fun experience to get the story for the first time onscreen!
im excited to see the snow and Lucy scenes but I also hope they show a bit of Lucy gray pov in the games. but I'm also scared to see clem (snows classmate) get bit by the snakes
@@forwanda yes!! I hope they give us some cutaways so we can get Lucy Gray's pov too - they did a great job of that with snow in the original hunger games trilogy so I don't think we'll always be confined to sow's pov, fingers crossed! Ohhh that would make total sense - I feel like it's going to seem a little bit like a horror movie for that part!
Actually, I remember that Snow enters the arena at night at one point in the book. He does it because Sejanus enters in hopes of getiing killed and Snow follows him to save him. And they can't be heard because apparntly there is only one michrophone in the arena. I'm remembering so much of the book right now. I have to read it before they release the movie, just to be sure.
I just hope at the end there is a flash forward also and you see Snow far into the future when he is older like in or around katnisses era to cover all bases....we see flash backs to when he is just a little kid, and then his rise, and then maybe later the end result. what great trailers...and the music...wow. its also going to make it seem more bittersweet when we go back to the originals now knowing the genesis of the hanging tree song
I would LOVE if they brought in Donald Sutherland for a quick scene! And I agree - the song now has so much more meaning to it, and I feel like that song has followed Snow throughout his life, so it makes a stronger battlecry for the rebellion during Katniss' story.
Thank you so much for watching!! ☺ And I thought it might be that classmate who gets bitten by the snakes early on in the book (I remember Snow talking to her and she was part snake at that point) and I'm wondering if they make it creepier by having the her there instead of in the hospital!
Thank you! I think because I talked a bit during the trailer (I usually try to talk more specifically for that but I was too shook this time 🤣) it technically becomes a "transformative work" in that I've managed to add something to the content as opposed to reuploading the trailer by itself and trying to get views just from showing the trailer. (And either that's working or I've managed to slip through the cracks haha)
Spoiler for the book!! I don’t think we’ll see snow using flowers to cover up the smell of blood in the movie, I’m pretty sure Snow mentioned that he wore roses from the Grandma’am’s garden because she thought it made him look regal/important and as a tribute to his mother since the smell of roses reminded him of her, plus Dean Highbottom is the first person he poisons. Honestly I think the roses are supposed to be symbolic in the same way his mother’s powder was, something that used to be important to him that he discarded for the sake of power.
Kind of a spoiler I guess. I’m not sure if it is at all but just incase it somehow is I’ll put that there, the trailer looks amazing and everything seems exact to the book so far. My only slight worry is the lack of the character Sejanus in any of the promo, even in the trailer he isn’t there as much when he’s a main character and very important to the story. So a part of me is worried that his character would get undermined, but I’m hoping that maybe he’s barley in it so that they don’t spoiler something about his role in it
Ahhh I see what you mean - there is a big twist that they aren't showing in the trailer when it comes to the arena (trying to not put spoilers either haha) so I'm guessing that's why - usually The Hunger Games does a good job with side characters so my hopes are still high for his role!
@@theegreatkatsby yeah I really hope so! It makes sense because a feel like a lot of Sejanus scenes probably would spoil it. My concern is also from the poster they released since he’s way at the back and Lucky Flickerman is getting more promo but I’m hoping that is just one of those things so that people don’t realise anything!
@@clover2739 ooh I didn't see that poster, but that's a good catch - I hope it is just them kind of being subtle about it because not only is his character important to the story - he's a huge catalyst for Snow's story arc, I think it'd be hard to get the right impact of the book without him!
oooohh I would love to see a scene of older snow going back and looking around to see if Lucy Gray is there! I'm not sure they would do that, but an end scene where a 30-something Snow is undercover around District 12 would be amaziiiing
@@theegreatkatsby yeah, i agree with you we won't scene of Donald Sutherland' snow looking for Lucy Gray but we might get scene at end Tom Blyth's Snow mention her name. i do think Donald Sutherland' snow did visit the cabin to look for clues. i wouldn't be surprise snow's cousin did try too look for her.
@@cazyjohn2005 oooh I didn't know his cousin went looking for her! (or I completely forgot that scene lol) that is something I didn't think of - maybe we get to see Tigris starting to recognize Snow's bad streak in the new movie
