The iconic song Katniss sings isn't just "from the district", it's a song from Lucy Gray herself. She started it for her ex but when Snow and her planned to run away together, she continued it for him. So yes, Katniss made the song of war against the capitol be the song Snow's first love made for him.

    • @Mohammadzabuasi
      @Mohammadzabuasi ปีที่แล้ว +12

Lucy didn’t write the song for Snow, it was about the hanging of the man that happened + Bully taupe telling her to meet him at the tree, she wrote the song considering these two situations from the POV of her ex (Billy taupe)
So yeah Lucy didn’t “make” the song for Snow.

The relationship between Snow and Lucy gray is so cute, but I do like the way it crumbled down so quickly. There is a quote says "Love cannot live where there is no trust" I think it's exactly what happened to these two.
In the book near the end, Snow also thought about marriage, his way of thinking is that he will marry someone he hates, bcs someone he loves could impact him in so many way like Lucy gray did. So he rather marries someone he hates to never let that happen again😘

@@josho712 those theories are silly. Firstly, the ages don't line up - Lucy Gray is around Snow's age and so would be around 80 by the time of the 74th games, meanwhile Coin is in her 50s at most. Secondly, Coin and Lucy Gray's characters are just completely different, it's honestly kinda insulting to Lucy Gray to insinuate that she becomes Coin. Loved watching it with you. In the book Collins seduces the reader into rooting for Snow even we all know how it must end. Good story telling. Most people believe Maude Ivory, Lucy Gray's cousin, is Katniss's grandmother and that the hanging tree song was handed down to Katniss through Maude Ivory. A little 'behind the scenes', the actor who played Sejanus, Josh Rivera, is the boyfriend of Rachel Zegler (Lucy Gray) IRL.

This movie is just crazy. Francis Lawrence has done an incredible job and we recognize his paste with his way of creating the Hunger Games films. This saga is my favorite and is for me the best, and I would always have a preference for the first film which shows the beginning of this saga. However, this prequel surpasses the rest (my opinion).
Initially, however, I wasn't a fan of seeing Snow as the main character ! And what a mistake. The author knew how to arouse my curiosity and I felt so many things when I saw these tenth Hunger Games !
Snow has always had an evil streak and this is confirmed when he first kills the tribute in the arena and feels powerful. For him, Lucy was his way out of wealth and power. He thought he could control her, succeed in getting what he wanted, but he forgot that she was from district 12 (Covey certainly but she has the soul of a rebel). His anger towards her is such that the capitol removed all traces of the winners of the first ten Hunger Games. And the Hanging Tree music that must haunt him, my god. Best music.
What's also crazy is that every time District 12 won, it was in a rebellious way and very sneaky too.
    - Lucy cheated with the help of Snow and sang the song in order to show the extent of her insolence towards the Capitol, but also the people watching.
    - Haymitch won by finding a loophole (force field) and using it to his advantage to kill his last opponent and ridicule the Capitol.
    - And Katniss twice (with Peeta winning) used the berries as a sign of revolt, then the following year with the dome, which started the revolution.
This film perfectly reflects the influence of certain people and the moment where Snow chooses between good and evil. Being a monster is much more rewarding than helping others (RIP his friend).
Lucy is for me the female version of Peeta :
    - She doesn't want to kill.
    - She helps her partner at all costs.
    - She feels guilty about the deaths in the arena.
    - She plays with words perfectly for the cameras (in the zoo in particular, then her final song in the arena - ALERT, it looked like the moment where Peeta announces Katniss's false pregnancy).
    - She is full of intelligence and knows how to manipulate if necessary (which Peeta did in the first games with districts 1&2).
    - She's an artist. Peeta he's a painter.

Thank you for your Detail coment. I agree to all of your points. Lucy Gray is the bird because she enjoy the freedom of a bird with her music. Birds like singing, intelligent, protective and they are loyal to their partner and family. They like to be in a peaceful group which they trust.
Corolianus Snow in the other hand ist the snake like Finick already said. He is underhand and kills with the poison his enemies. Snakes nearly always live alone like Snow. They attack when his victim does not know it (His friend).
I have one question to you: Could it be that Lucy survived? I mean there was no blood, only her cry. Maybe we get a second part?

The thing is Snow was never good. It's portrait perfectly in the book, because it's his point of view and we can actually read his thoughts. And he was never a good person to begin with. He was always egotistical and he hated Sejanus from the start, and his feelings for Lucy was more of an ownership than equal companionship.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes exceeds the very little expectations I had for this movie!
The story line was so well done. It was so neat seeing the different time setting for this movie, and seeing it from the Capitol's perspective. I have seen this movie 4 times, and every time I have watched it, I notice some small details that I missed the last time I watched it. Francis Lawrence's attention to tiny details is a reason why I love this movie so much.
The acting in this movie was spectacular! While I originally hated the decision to cast Tom Blyth as Snow (Because I personally wanted Adam Driver), he knocked it out of the park! He did such a good job at portraying so many different emotions in multiple scenes. Rachel Zegler did a great job as Lucy Gray Baird. Some of her facial expressions managed to make you tear up, and she had a lovely singing voice as well. Viola Davis arguably gave the best performance however. She was very cartoony, but very serious at the same time. Was not expecting a whole lot from her, but she stole the show IMO. Peter Dinklage is not getting enough credit for his performance IMO. His character had so many layers, and Peter did a great job at portraying all of them in multiple scenes.
While there were not a whole lot of action scenes, the film's screenplay and acting was so good, that the movie did not need very many of them. I loved the film's tone so much as well!
I do not think there needs to be another movie in the Hunger Games series. The movies have run their course, and they were all good! The only thing I would maybe like to see from this franchise, is a series about the Hunger Games that weren't shown, and see how they started, and how the games got much more complex and innovated as the years went on. It is really the only thing left this series has to offer IMO.
Overall, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a hauntingly great movie, that features stellar acting, and some great small details!
Out of 4 stars I would give it...
    4 out of 4 stars

A glass is something we drink of, symbolizing people's love and remembrance. Whenever you feel any change you either hold onto the glass for as long as you live, or let go to allow the force of gravity to shatter it in countless of fragments that all lives and spirit and dreams left completely eradicated. You couldn't replace this specific glass, as replacing anybody's love for their mothers or fathers or brothers or sisters or lovers. You start rebuilding it for as long as you keep your heart integrity or change people's story negatively.

  • @Alexszander

Tigris and Snow, that's a pairing you wouldn't expect to see, especially after the last movie.
    Tyrion Lannister strikes again 😂
Lucy certainly got a crazy introduction, showing us just how fit she is for the Games. On the opposite end, Snow looks like he's just being thrown into the middle of things.
Viola Davis absolutely dominated every scene she was in as Dr.Volumnia.
It's really trippy, seeing how similar to Haymitch Snow is in this one, the way he coaches Lucy, how much he cares.
It feels surreal, seeing Snow fight so hard to save someone but at the same time, we can see how he's slowly losing his humanity in the process, which is ironic to say the least.
Eminem Snow 😂 that got a good laugh out of me, well done ladies!
"From lovers to enemies" - you summed it up really nicely, Magy.
These games really destroyed everyone and in the end, Snow, broken as he was, remained the only one standing.
Thank you for the epic reaction ❤

The movie watered down how bad Snow was in the book. He thought of soling Tigris at the beginning of the movie while waiting her with his shirt. He view Lucy Gray as no more than a pet which he believed belong to him. Hated Sejanus because he was district also sending him to his death without remorse (the scene where he "shows" remorse is just him being scared that he will die). Every "good" thing he did was always about benefiting himself. Overall he is just an absolute psychopath who cares only for power.

It was so nice to see your reactions to the romance, the friendships, the moral conflicts, and the horror of the games. I still have the same two questions from the book. When did his heart turn? What happened to Lucy? I like to think Lucy survived and lived a long life in District 13 or somewhere. Only Suzanne Collins can tell us for sure if she writes another book to connect the eras. As for his heart, there were clues, the conversation they had about where to live, city or country? His killing of Mayfair and definitely of Sejanus and lying to Lucy about it. Love seemed true, but trust was fragile. So it was definitely the unforgiveable lie for her. For him, snake bite?Star-crossed lovers? Great reaction, my friends. 🧲💕

I love how it's a blend of irony, humor, and poetic justice that it was a girl from District 12 who molded Snow into what he became, and it was another girl from District 12 who would be his undoing. I would like to see another book about the 25th Hunger Game, but done in a way where we have more than one person to root for. I loved your reaction! Have you two ever reacted to the TV series Firefly? It has a huge following and I think that you would love it! It's from about 20 years ago and there was 14 episodes plus a movie that was shown in theaters a few years later because the fans wanted the show back.

Hello Magy 🙂 great to see that Hunger Games after long time came back with backstory of their own , and this time in the center of the movie is younger Coriolanus Snow himself , while watching each intense minute of the movie , i was seeing how slowly Snow from kind boy becoming a villain , i hope it will be a sequel , just like it was with Jenifer Lawrence as leading actress in Hunger Games trilogy 🙂 is it worth to wait ? 🙂 yes it is , that's why i love backstories while watching the movies 🙂

Katnis and Lucy are not realited though they are a lot alike I agree. Then again when the other books are written and they make more movies that might change but for now they are not connected as for Lucy? Her fate stays unknown even in the book so it seems. I do like this movie and Viola Davis playing the game master was unexpected though I don't recognize her...only her voice haha. I like seeing how snow started off and how he became the way he is now as well though a part of me wishes he could stay a good man as it were.
