Yeah tiktok art community sucks lowkey got bullied by this one person for drawing a fat person WHICH LIKE other body types exist guys! It helps make your characters not look all the same but no they gotta complain about same face syndrome and how your ocs have the same body type but as soon as you make one one pound over the beauty standerned they'll immediately complain over that instead
i literally just found your account while looking for some art yt commentary videos and i absolutely love ur video!! i really liked how you put those cute mha gifs too lmao, you got a new subscriber :)
This reminds me of that one news reporter situation. The first person in the world to beat Tetris was a 13 year old, and this woman on the news made fun of them for it. Exactly why the woman reports on the news instead of making it. It’s the same with these comments. They complain about “bad art” instead of being the ones to good art. They’re projecting the fact that they’ll never be as big and as successful as the person they’re making fun of
I feel bad because they don’t deserve that hate. I honestly don’t care abt what their style looks like (it still looks great) I’m still going crazy over how they drew Accardi I swear i barely see 8 11 content so it’s always nice to see. I just wish the people who are hating would just leave them alone, let people draw how they want to draw.
Good lord i am so glad i refuse to engage with tiktok. Not even once. I really think we need to rethink how we talk about style to begin with: its not realistic to expect an artist to have a single art style. I draw in many different styles; in fact, it's good to be able to do that! It helps you learn! But more than that i think an artists style is something more abstract than just what their art looks like. It's always been there in you. I look at my crappy manga art from middle school and i still see things i recognize in my art now. It's a PERSONALITY your art has. That's a style. Not the literal lines. If your art feels like you, it's in your style. Drawfee did a video a while back where they redid childhood art and you could tell immediately who had drawn which childhood piece because they're still drawing the same things they love as adults. THAT is your style. Idk man i get real mad over this and I'm 30 which means i am too old to have a filter
Damn tiktoks art community is wild i only used to the twitch community which is really wholesome but every time i hear art drama its starts with or has "tiktok" in name but i would assume that most haters are really young or not even artist themselves. But i also think that people have forgetting what "hate" actually means and using it as a dislike which is utterly wrong
This video was great, I absolutely loved to see all the pictures you drew! Especially the conifer trees with snow I also completely agree with everything said in this video, art truly is a wobbly mess sometimes
When I was 13 I posted some of my first digital art on an art site that no longer exists, and one time (maybe three months into posting my art there) someone who was... Not exactly "famous", but well known on that site, left a lot of really nasty comments and said that the legs of the characters I draw looked like cigarettes. I'm 21. I still think about this comment. This shit sticks with people. Don't leave hate comments.
dude, im so sorry for you. people just dont realise that what they put out into the world has affects on other people. especially the fact that someome has an actual influence on their fans to leave a hate comment on a 13 year old? its just fricked up. i hope you know that your art is amazing. theres no right or wrong in creativity, its only what the owner of the piece likes :)
People on the internet are so mean for no reason, even I had to experience some hate a few days ago just because I asked for advice on how to get commissions. At first I got helpful comments, but then people started saying that my art style was bland and generic. I tried to explain that that wasn’t the advice I was looking for, but every time I tried to explain it just got down voted to hell (this was on Reddit). I ended up regretting making that thread so much because it made me feel really insecure, but at least I was able to get my first commission out of it since it became so viral lol
If ppl dont like a cetain artstyle its fine but they literally bullied them for no reason 😭 It makes me sad cuz if they were happy with their new style then let them be happy!!!!! Ppl are getting to comfortable on the internet these days cuz none of that was necessary if you have nothing nice to say just dont say nothing at all!!! Cuz behind the screens there are people with feelings
Its ridiculous that they received hate over the fact there art style changed, I honestly think its cool seeing how there style changed. And honestly who cares what people who look at the art think, it's not like they paid for it. And its not there art, plus theres nothing wrong with the style either. Its honestly sad seeing how toxic the art community and even people in general can be towards someone who makes art, it's just a style change whuch just proves that they are changing overtime within being an airtist which is good, like you mentioned
I feel like people aren't realizing there's a difference between the progression of improvement depending on the person, and stagnation. Some people improve faster than others (especially those who put in the work constantly and have the time/mental space to do that), and for others it's much more gradual. Either way, it's an "at your own pace" kind of thing and that's the beauty of the art journey with the goal of eventually reaching a place where the artist can be truly confident with their art
this crushes me, especially as someone who is stuck in another massive artblock and can't even put a pen to paper without just quitting. I think artists should express themselves and do what makes them happy. Not what other people deem as good or bad. Art is great because it's subjective. And it's sad how many people fail to understand that. I love seeing people grow, improve and be proud of themselves especially as artists! I hope Cassie doesn't give up!
Truly it’s a process. Every now and again, I go through a period of ‘I want to draw like this for a while’ and I’ll set down my main style and pick up a new one. As of late, I’d been doing lots of pixel art and painting. I’m trying to learn more about colors and color theory and whatnot. It’s a process
Their case makes me so upset, the hate is terrible, i can literally see they found their artstyle and they learned more features in clothing and giving them arms and so on so therefore they improved to me, tiktok boils my blood when it comes to people judging people I dont like posting my art there much because its inconsistent because of that alone
Yoir advice about improvement really helped me, I was recently going through a rut because of a traumatic convo with my best friend, who is an artist, about my lack of improvement and my mental state. There have been many moments where I just wanted to quit because there was no point in trying to improve or do drawing exercises because all I was doing were the same exact things, and only recently I began understanding that drawing exercises can be so much more than the usual formulaic exercises and that drawing isn't only about trying to make accurate forms. You can't learn to draw just by learning how to do forms in 3D space. Things are much more complex than that, and our brains are not computers when it comes to art. Dont tuck your brain into boxes!
@@TeleviseGuy yes of course! I’m glad that you found my advice helpful. Please don’t give up, art is hard, but so many seem to forget the process of building yourself up. You got this, I believe in you
This reminds me a bit of the time when I experimented with lineless art, none of the pieces had been turning out the way I wanted, but I still made more than one before coming to the conclusion that I wasn’t even enjoying the process of making them and switching back to my regular art. Sure, it technically went nowhere, but it was important for me to learn what I enjoyed making.
Bruh when I had an actual art style upgrade people were saying that the old one was better, so when people are making fun of her new art it just rages me
Honestly, looking at both, the original isn't very unique, and while I do think the newer one looks less 'finished' it's probably because it's new and Cassy is still figuring it out, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's actually super cool that they're figuring out a new style. (Edit: it's also probably very gacha inspired based on their account) I'm also trying something new. I'm lucky to have a more realistic style so it looks more impressive and gets less hate, but recently I've been trying more unrealistic drawings and drawing more from imagination. It's hard and it's definitely not an overnight thing. It's hard to do something new like that and it sucks when people say terrible things just because they think it's okay.
Developing simplicity shouldn't be an issue. Usually people develope it when they want to animate so they can repeatedly draw the character easier. I've done this myself over the years. Also, THANK YOU for mentioning that art/artists fluxiate weirdly when it comes to drawing. For example, sometimes for a week or month I would draw very stiff yet clean and other times I would draw sketchy and make dynamic poses. It's not even like a coin flip. It's more like a deck of cards. You never really know your result until it is finished.
Once I was waiting for a psychologist appointment to check on my medication and yk meds were working well, I was having a good time mentally after having such horrible depression I needed to be homeschooled. So I decided to draw something from a piece of media I love and I did it fast. It wasn’t my best but it was to fill the time. So I was like, “I should upload this to the wiki for it so other fans can see I’m sure they’ll be nice!” And I uploaded it and there were. So. Many. Comments that said “the neck is too long” and like “I can’t tell if this is ugly or not” LIKE. I SAID IT WAS MADE IN 20 MINUTES??? Also it’s just rude? Genuinely rude and I said “hey guys don’t say that.” And people still did. Also literally one of the moderators said something rude wow way to show you care. Like I was afraid to make art for the series I love and just generally interact with the fandom :(
I can definitely confirm the "weird" style phase. When I was first learning all of my work was an anime style. Switching styles was a grind, my art looked almost worse than it had previously, but like you said, that was because it was a transition style! I had to relearn something I was used to in order to eventually improve beyond that Really bizarre how worked up some people (tiktokers) can get over art that's, one, not their own and two, that they're viewing for free??
Really nice to see Cassypillar get so much support. Everyone with real taste in art knows it’s a horrible thing to do to harass a 16-year-old. Young artists have dreams of being great and improvement is a gradual road, it’s better to appreciate and support their growth rather than suppress them with demoralising insults. But sadly, the TikTok community is like a hydra; if you call one incident out, more horrible incidents like it will happen soon after. I am so glad that TikTok is banned in my home country, but as someone who was traumatised from being bullied at school I can understand the pain that many other victims like Cassy have gone through. Personally I think Cassy’s new art style deserves a lot of commendation. The lines are tidier, the facial expressions are clearer and the simplification looks comfortable to watch. I wish them nothing but the best of luck and that nothing will stop them from improving even more! ❤
if its improvement in the artists eyes, then thats what matters, no? i honestly really like their new art, and if the artist is happy with it then thats just even better
I agree with this like my style from 2022 is supee diffrent form my style now and my style form early 2023 is like a weird mix of the 2 and i thibk there new art is a bug improvement it looks super good i say
when I first started posting I only got ONE comment saying it was bad and it still effected me, I couldn't possibly imagine so many people telling me that my art sucks. It doesn't matter what style anyone perfers except the artists, I started doing cleaner lines because it made me happy, not because people told me to, my shadings all over the place because it makes *me* happy, and if their art makes Cassypillar happy, then what right do we have to say if it's bad or not? (I truly *don't* believe that any art is bad art, but some people do believe that.)
Just because I like how they styalize the old one a bit more, doesn’t mean I don’t like the new piece, and doesn’t mean that they went through “art regression” because it doesn’t look exactly how *my* preferences are. If they like the new one better, that’s perfectly fine! Art is completely subjective
Even if I personally prefer the old art style, I always tell the artist the good points of the new one, and make sure they have at less one "your art look yummy so I gonna eat it" Is so sad see people hate on a form of expression. Some drawings are just silly things, but most of they are artists putting they soul and heart to make something beautiful, or nostalgic, or terrifying, or weird, or all about. And is ok. I just wish no-artist could fick off and mean artistic could chill of a bit. Your art is valid, remember that
off-topic (sorry for going off-topic lol), but your art in the background is so pretty!! :0 also cassypillar’s art change isn’t bad, I don’t get why they’re getting so much hate :[
For a second, only seeing the thumbnail with the art pieces in question that were the reason Cassy got harrassed over, I feared it was because it was that they lightened up the colour palette and in turn the skin colour got just a smidgin lighter. I'm glad this wasn't it, it's still bad that they got hate in the first place though.
I actually really love their art! This is why artists should never post on tiktok, because things are just way more savage over there then insta, or youtube, or twitter (X is stupid)
when i used to explore tik tok and see the art daily drama, i often noticed a lot of people participating being a negative part of that drama don't even do art themselves. Most of them are literally just there for stirring shit. Internet was an escape from reality before people decided to bring the worst part of reality in it. People are getting too used of not getting any slap for the bullshit they say or do.
Gonna be so real-- Those who dare say something and 'critique' an Artist's artstyle and how they should draw, when they themselves aren't artists, should NOT say anything and be brushed aside. Those people are the equivalent to a random student walking into the wrong classroom.
4:21 i think of art like.. an art competition, i always think like that cause if i do i think of when im a bit more better. I can redraw my art pieces like that just like you had done within these speed paints. This is my opinion, and its not meant to be hate and its not suppose to be hate!!
I've been an artist since I could pick up a pen. That doesn't mean my art is absolutely perfect right now. If anything, it's been extremely lazy recently despite the fact that I have been drawing everyday my whole life with little to no burnouts. My art style has changed drastically and I'm still working on it and improving, there's nothing wrong with going through a rough patch in art! That's why art block and art burnout are a thing, it's a rocky path, it's not going to be uphill once you start drawing.
The issue is also that everyone just feels the need to share their opinion otherwise they'll explode or something. Its fine to like the old one, but I think you can also just move on. We artists are usually sharing redraws because we are proud of the progress and thats it. Unless we want honest feedback or something. Some artists include that too. People hating on the new one, loving the old one has happened to me before as well (it wasnt hundreds of people though) , because of style preference. From a technical standpoint, the old one was garbage but not for the people preferring a style. Just know that its usually a preference for style and nothing more than that. In all my years of being in the art community I dont think I've never seen any artist get worse, unless they did it on purpose, or really learned the wrong way. But even there, the progress was noticeable too.
Right now, I'm just telling myself that my art isn't looking very good right now, but you told me that making bad drawings is just okay. As someone who is a teenager, I should feel good about myself for making really bad pen doodles.
i would feel SO trapped if i had to stick to one artstyle because drawing in different art styles feels so freeing. it doesn’t look right ? i’m just trying out a new style. i like the art better ? it’s the artstyle ! anything else ? ARTSTYLE !!!
I used to be in an animation meme comunity when I was a "kid' and used to make the animations, I really liked doing it. Until there I made one, quick animation. No cleanup, no smooth animation. It was the "drunk dance meme" People went wild. it randomly just popped up on everyone's fy. I got around 100 comments about the animation being traced and about getting lot's of death threats. It even got to some "cringe compilations" the video randomly hit around 15000 views and had almost half thousand dislikes. and why did it happen? because I had some free time at grandpa's house
5:36 I literally can't cut it off at the shoulders. I'm not kidding. I want to do close ups but I can't because I'm just not used to it. I could it, I'm sure of that, but just can't draw bigger heads.
I made a tt on the terrible comments, and half of them don't even draw. Or at least don't post it. And there was more. And I called out most of the comments I found. Tiktok art fandom is so upsetting, I post art, I decline and upcline and I switch art styles to try them out. I enjoy all kinds. And if I see anymore hate comments, I will draw the haters pre- ⊙△⊙😔😃
Honestly I think both styles look fine. Some people need to simmer down honestly. I honestly think artists should use multiple styles for different things. At least two. One that is your main shtick for art that you want to be more complex with shading lighting what have you. The other be simpler like for fun doodles that relies more on going with the flow but that’s how I view it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it also costs nothing to keep hateful comments to yourself.
‘Art Regression’ is just such a petty topic sometimes. If the new style makes them happy then so be it, let them be happy, it’s their journey and growth. Even if the old art is seen as ‘better’ the new one has more love put into it, that’s what some love about it, So people shouldn’t be getting hurt over someone else’s art journey.
I’ve been around these parts for awhile and I’ve said this before but it really is looking like the art tiktok scene is just kinda repeating a lotta the toxic habits early to mid 2010s da circles used to have (namely da ranting ones but that was more of a mid 2010s thing) which is a shame to see but honestly kinda repeating a lotta the problems that popped up in 2010s net days seems to be a common trend in general with tiktok and not even just involving the art sphere. It’s a shame to see cattypiller get caught up in all this cause honestly I genuinely see a lotta improvement from their 2023 piece to their 2024 redraw! So I wouldn’t even call it a regression. Listen I have been lurking the net since 2010 at the age of eleven and I’ve seen randos expecting perfect work from artists of all types for probably a decade now (not even just illustration based artists, don’t even get me started on how I’ve seen writers been treated over the years) and all I can say is, if they don’t have anything constructive or insightful to add and their feedback is just toxic dribble, they really aren’t worth listening too. Stay strong kiddos the nets a unforgiving place but honestly you’re probably a lot tougher then if.
What was crazy is half the people who were coming for me were either not artists themselves or were like so much older than me. Not to mention how many times I was called this one artist who was a gr00mer 😞,,

They’re projecting the fact that they’ll never be as big and as successful as the person they’re making fun of
i was so shocked to see Accardi on the screen 😭
Fr 😭😭
Your advice is so good tho.... you're so right about experiment n stuff
Real
Another thing i want to say is not every artist wants to improve! Some might just draw, without them improving and without wanting to improve
Especially the conifer trees with snow
I also completely agree with everything said in this video, art truly is a wobbly mess sometimes

AMAZING VID
I saw there video when the comments were up and the they were BADDD but I loved the art 😭
tik tok when someones artstyle looks different in a year: 🙄
I feel like people aren't realizing there's a difference between the progression of improvement depending on the person, and stagnation.
Their art style is so cute I’m so upset with the haye
Truly it’s a process.
Every now and again, I go through a period of ‘I want to draw like this for a while’ and I’ll set down my main style and pick up a new one. As of late, I’d been doing lots of pixel art and painting. I’m trying to learn more about colors and color theory and whatnot. It’s a process
Their case makes me so upset, the hate is terrible, i can literally see they found their artstyle and they learned more features in clothing and giving them arms and so on so therefore they improved to me, tiktok boils my blood when it comes to people judging people
I dont like posting my art there much because its inconsistent because of that alone
This drama was crazy ngl
Bruh when I had an actual art style upgrade people were saying that the old one was better, so when people are making fun of her new art it just rages me
6:29 best part of the video
0:09 / 0:30 / 12:09 -- PEARLIE!!
Honestly, looking at both, the original isn't very unique, and while I do think the newer one looks less 'finished' it's probably because it's new and Cassy is still figuring it out, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's actually super cool that they're figuring out a new style. (Edit: it's also probably very gacha inspired based on their account)
I'm also trying something new.
Do I hear Zelda music in the background??

Like I was afraid to make art for the series I love and just generally interact with the fandom :(
I’m so sorry nobody deserves that. I bet your art is amazing, don’t let anyone dictate your art because it is yours to love
I can definitely confirm the "weird" style phase. When I was first learning all of my work was an anime style. Switching styles was a grind, my art looked almost worse than it had previously, but like you said, that was because it was a transition style! I had to relearn something I was used to in order to eventually improve beyond that
Really bizarre how worked up some people (tiktokers) can get over art that's, one, not their own and two, that they're viewing for free??
If I ever post my art on tic toc I’m gonna laugh at the people who are (keep in mind fulll down adults ) trying to bully a 15 year old -
YOURE SO RIGHT MARI!
I commented on the original. I told them their art is great and they should keep doing it
Just because I like how they styalize the old one a bit more, doesn’t mean I don’t like the new piece, and doesn’t mean that they went through “art regression” because it doesn’t look exactly how *my* preferences are. If they like the new one better, that’s perfectly fine! Art is completely subjective
Even if I personally prefer the old art style, I always tell the artist the good points of the new one, and make sure they have at less one "your art look yummy so I gonna eat it"
Is so sad see people hate on a form of expression. Some drawings are just silly things, but most of they are artists putting they soul and heart to make something beautiful, or nostalgic, or terrifying, or weird, or all about. And is ok.
I just wish no-artist could fick off and mean artistic could chill of a bit.
Your art is valid, remember that

For a second, only seeing the thumbnail with the art pieces in question that were the reason Cassy got harrassed over, I feared it was because it was that they lightened up the colour palette and in turn the skin colour got just a smidgin lighter. I'm glad this wasn't it, it's still bad that they got hate in the first place though.
I actually really love their art! This is why artists should never post on tiktok, because things are just way more savage over there then insta, or youtube, or twitter (X is stupid)
Covid has nothing to do with this. I seen this since i was 16. I am 30 now.
I like their new art alot more it feels more personal
when i used to explore tik tok and see the art daily drama, i often noticed a lot of people participating being a negative part of that drama don't even do art themselves.
NO BUT THE ZELDA MUSIC IN THE BG IS +100000000 AURA ACCKK
0:17 I love doing this trend personally, as it shows how much I’ve grown and how my character designs have changed 😭

So glad i left tiktok its like i was released from my cage

When u said what the sigma was so real and I love your art
Right now, I'm just telling myself that my art isn't looking very good right now, but you told me that making bad drawings is just okay. As someone who is a teenager, I should feel good about myself for making really bad pen doodles.
people suck, i hope the cassypillar continued art i liked the way both styles were and it's a damn shame people think that way to comment such things
i would feel SO trapped if i had to stick to one artstyle because drawing in different art styles feels so freeing. it doesn’t look right ? i’m just trying out a new style. i like the art better ? it’s the artstyle ! anything else ? ARTSTYLE !!!

It was the "drunk dance meme" People went wild. it randomly just popped up on everyone's fy. I got around 100 comments about the animation being traced and about getting lot's of death threats. It even got to some "cringe compilations" the video randomly hit around 15000 views and had almost half thousand dislikes.

I literally can't cut it off at the shoulders.

People are so mean omg
The more I look at it the more I like the 2024 version better then the first 😭
