I'm a master mechanic bye trade and race go karts for 25 years and I think I know a thing or too about engines .we have been breaking on motors this way for long as I remember. It's good too get ring seat and too see how ring end gap is.plus a little looesr motor always runs better..
You neeed compression to break in an engine, compression presses the rings out on the walls. So how this good?

it will not work, the combustion pressure pushes the rings against the walls, youre not breaking in anything by doing that.
