If you are planning your trip to Jordan, we are extremely jealous that visiting this wonder is in your future! Seeing it for the first time blew us away! Let us know what questions you have--we'd love to help! If you have been to Petra, what tips do you have that we missed??
Could you please update the video to warn your viewers about the risk of grape of solo female travellers by Bedouins in Petra, my girlfriend was graped there by a Bedouin who invited her to Wadi Rum and has since unalived herself as a result. Please, I’m just trying to save people from having to live what I am living. If you think I’m making it up Google Petra love scams.
Amazing!! We are planning to visit and vlog about this marvel of Jordan as well. By sharing your personal experience of visiting this wonder of the world, you offer valuable insights and tips to simplify the travel planning process. Covering topics such as the logistics of the Jordan Pass, entry visas, renting a car, and hotel recommendations, you provide viewers with practical information to consider. Additionally, discussing how to make the most of their time inside the UNESCO World Heritage site demonstrates your attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a fulfilling visit. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping others have a memorable experience at Petra! Looking forward to your next adventures.
Petra would definitely be a dream trip for us! Thank you for providing us with so much information. After Egypt, we got a lot of practice at telling people "No." lol
Petra has the highest rate of grape of anywhere in Jordan. Literally hundreds of female tourists are graped there every year. Do not trust the bedouins. Google Petra love scams.
@@explorinwithlaurin I am a huge history buff, so I was extremely excited to see the ancient burial sites and temples. It is amazing how effective ancient architects were in an era without modern tools
17 miles... your poor feet! Great travel tips for this world famous place. Would love to Petra with my own eyes some day. I've never seen it lit up at night like this before, very cool!
We've only visited Petra in our dreams! We loved your tips though. The Jordon Pass is priced reasonable and at least two nights would be mandatory. We don't do a lot of international travel but always stay 2 or more nights near a National Park etc. You would need at least a full day there. I think we would need more and we would take camels or donkeys. Loved the views and your last video. Thanks so much for taking us along!
Nice to see your travel video Where from you rented the car If you give some important information about driving in your Jordan tour that would be very helpful.. thank you
Such a great video, I’m going to Petra really soon, did you exchange the JOD at the airport or where did you do that? Also, do you recommend to hire a tour guide? Thanks for sharing your information
Thanks so much 😃 you are going to LOVE it! We exchanged with the front desk of the hotel bc the exchange rate was a bit better. Your guides a preference, we didn’t have one but I do wish we got more info as we walked around! Just do your research so you get a good one!
We leave in 2 weeks for our Jordan trip! As a woman, what clothing would you suggest? I typically hike in Lululemon type yoga pants or actual hiking pants. I was worried about wearing body/booty hugging yoga pants there as it is a modest country. Thoughts? Also, I wear a somewhat cheeky style bikini when at the beach and our tour includes time to swim at the Dead Sea. Advice on that? Are cut off shorts a no no? I’m in my 50s so it’s not like I plan to dress like I’m in South Beach lol 😜. But I want to be respectful of Jordan’s culture and customs. I don’t want to feel uncomfortable. I’m packing lots of light weight flowy wide leg pants and Tshirts. I think I have the exact same hiking boots as you! The Merrill Moab boot. They have served me well on long hikes in Utah and Iceland. Also bringing my Tevas. My bf suggested water shoes for the Dead Sea swim. Any add’l packing suggestions you have would be much appreciated! 🙏🏼☺️
Hi Samantha 👋🏼 that’s so exciting! You’re going to have a great time! I wore lulu yoga pants and was in good company at Petra. We did the Dead Sea from a resort and there were plenty of bikinis but I would suggest a good cover up for when you are not in the water! And the Dead Sea is super rocky so you will want those water shoes! Generally speaking, you can get away with more in the heavy tourist areas and form fitted is okay but try to keep areas like your chest covered. The cut off shorts are on the line a bit for me but if you’re going in the dead of summer I’m sure there will be others in shorts. I would highly suggest a hat and sunscreen-even in December we got burnt!
great video with good infos.... but if you are tired to go the long root to petra viewpoint how do you think the donkeys will feel carrying you on their back back and forth? leave the animals alone please.
@@explorinwithlaurin good to know...just wanted to point out that we shouldn't promote it like it is a good thing. Thanx for the video again, will travel there next month.
I was seriously considering about going to Jordan and almost got my tickets but after watching a few videos similar to yours, just changed my mind. FYI 1JD = 1.41 USD.
Yes, it’s definitely one of the most expensive places and does not have a favorable exchange rate but we were determined to go to visit Petra and absolutely loved our time here!
They need your international drivers license - this can be obtained at an AAA Insurance location in the United States. Hope this helps!! Enjoy your time in Jordan!
Hello 👋 - We used budget rent a car 🚗 for our trip and had no issues while in country! We used our united states based phone plans, which allowed for international day passes at a flat rate daily fee. Hope this helps!
Hi there! We had three full days (4 nights) in the country. It wasn’t enough time but if you have limited vacation time and need a good itinerary for the highlights you can check out this video: th-cam.com/video/2seo9FuW8hU/w-d-xo.html
Hello! great tips... I have a question, if I get the Jordan Pass am I allowed to get to Petra by night AND Petra by day? BTW... "Lauren was an easy target"------ HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! lol I suffer the same with my wife, she always says yes to any firsts!
Hello! The Jordan Pass only covers your admission to Petra during the day-you will need a separate ticket for Petra by Night. However, your Petra by night ticket is like a supplemental ticket, so you need to have a valid daytime ticket plus the Petra by night ticket to enter. The petra by night tickets are sold at the gate and by most of the hotels! And yes.. I am a very easy target 😅 hope you enjoy your time in Jordan!!
Yes! There are bathrooms but they are a bit far apart. There is one by the entrance and the major sites of the treasury and the monastery! They do have sinks for washing your hands but it is a bathroom in a dessert so I wouldn’t set your expectations too high!
Hi, traveling to Jorden with my wife this September, and if you could give me some information about what is the best way to spend money, ATM, credit card, debit card, or cash, also where's the best place to exchange dollars into Jordanian Dinar. Thank you for any information
Hi! You’re going to have a great time! The easiest way is to get cash is through you bank before you go to avoid the high exchange fees-but we had USD and the hotel (Marriott) was able to exchange it for us at the front desk. ATMs are also available at the tourist spots and in hotels. Our credit cards were accepted at all the tourist spots (and our credit cards waive exchange fees), so we only needed cash for stops along the drive, tipping on tours, etc. I usually avoid using debit cards oversees for fraud risk concerns! Hope this is helpful but let us know if you have any follow up questions!!
@@explorinwithlaurin Wow, that was very helpful information, I have another question, where did you rent the car, and was it complicated, what was the cost per day? Thank you very much I am so appreciative of the information you had given me.

Online before you go for sure!! If you already have it you get to go to a shorter line during immigration since it is technically your tourist visa in addition to getting to entry to the attractions.
Hi Amir! We used Budget and they were great but most of the big rental car companies like Avis and Sixt are all available at the airport. We used Expedia to find the best deal on an automatic transmission and booked that!
I was in Petra 1983. There was nothing and no one there. Just one Bedouin granny with her grand daughter and on the end a few Americans students of architecture, doing research.
We got the Jordan Pass which covers the tourist visa as well as entry into Petra and other sites around Jordan. The cost is 70-80 JOD for the pass depending on how many days you would want to visit Petra. The link to the site is in the description. Hope this helps!
